well Jo Rowling wrote the character of Snape with Alan Rickman in mind and when she signed the movie deal she said that she absolutely HAD to have him. He didn't want to do it at first cuz he thought the character was too 2-Dimensional so she pulled him aside and told him EVERYTHING. from Snapes childhood to his death (cuz she'd already had everything planned out since the beginning) and he knew more about the series than anyone, even Dan. Hes prob more in tune w/ his character than anyone else

When Jk Rowling signed the movie rights away that was her condition that EVERYONE in the movie every PART was given to a british actor or actress. =) She wanted to keep it in the place it was born.
