has anyone played il 2 sturmovik 1946, is an excellent sim. The 109 is there with so many others and the damage engine is fantastic, if you like flight "sims" and not acrade rubbish then i dont think you'l find anything better than this.

The engine Jumo 004 was not ready for production until late 44' and even then , operational engine life was only 7-8 hrs. On top of that the Me 262 only operated tactically with conventional propellor fighter protection and heavy anti aircraft protected airdromes because of the slow accelaration and throttle spooling problems of the Jumo 004.

The engine Jumo 004 was not ready for production until late 44' and even then , operational engine life was only 7-8 hrs. On top of that the Me 262 only operated tactically with conventional propellor fighter protection and heavy anti aircraft protected airdromes because of the slow accelaration and throttle spooling problems of the Jumo 004.

And it don't need to be perfect but interviewed soldiers from US Airforce said also, that if there would have been thousands of 262 they would have a big problem... nothing is perfect, but the speed alone and a weapon is enough... jumo had a short life time afair, but however, it was a better fighter at all than the normal propellor-fighter...

@fluffy1931 and the other versions were not needed as I wrote before, there was the Arado Ar 234 jet-bomber, it was as far as I know never shot down by the allies, but it bombed allied air-strips in the benelux countrys, only in few missions due to lack of fuel, but that missions showed that it was so fast... of course they all were "prototypes", but they had potential... and as with Panther-tank, the first version was totally crap (engine etc), but the next was much better.

@fluffy1931 and that the americans and russians knew that german technique was superior, they demonstrated this with their special troops that seizured german weapons.. me 262 and all other jet-fighters, newest versions of tanks, U-Boot XXI (revolutionary electro u-boot), V2 of course. Panzerfaust and goliath "roboter" and the developers. My polish grandpa said too, germans were very strong on the battlefield, and he had to fight them from 1944 to the end, even in this stage it was horrible

Also, that part with United States airmen smashing the german fighter was probably done for the camera. While the Wermacht was obviously superior tacticly, this mostly because of their experience on the battlefields of Scandinavia and central Euro. Their Strategy was lacking greatly, Hitler and the general staff had little idea how to occupy the large tracts of land they conquered

In fact, they were more a factory for russia and UK, and than entered the war in the last months, they didn't even fight 12 months out of almost 6 years in important campaign. Maybe they had some troops in Africa but it was... lucky for us all, the ME 262 didn't enter service early and only as an fighter aircraft which was its best role.

WWII wasn't a loss for Germany, just a loss for hitler and the nazis. The German forces took on and almost won against the rest of the world just about. It was too bad that they were being forced to fight for a bad cause that they didn't even believe in by the end of the war.

This documentary isn´t very good structured. They´re mentioning the Spanish civil war and are showing airbattles over Germany of 1944.
They´re mentioning the Me Bf109E...and are showing later versions as an example.
