Well my first 'console' if you could call it that was commodore 64 =P I've seen this and the way they talk about donkeykong and avoiding the obstacles reminds me of the way fighting game players memorize frame data for fighting games to know which move will beat which.

Half the reason old skool games are harder is there's less margin for error & no save points, which means more concentration, hence the much higher needed endurance, because by todays standards it will get dull REALLY fast
