It looks awesome, but the center of gravity has got to be WAY too far forward. I'd be worried, driving that forward down a steep inverse slope, of over-balancing and rolling forward. Presumably you've assumed an all-electric drive - separate motors in each wheel hub, likely - so perhaps the battery packs, or fuel for a generating IC engine, would provide a better balance point, if it extended backwards, behind the passenger cabin ...?
I also heavily doubt the originality of the design. It is very possible that he never saw the red faction vehicle as I had to look it up to see what you guys were talking about. But the actual operation of the vehicle is not original and has been around for a while. You don't see it often as it is very difficult to get it working properly and costs crazy amounts of money. Not to mention you have to be a mechanical engineer to make sure it doesn't topple over.
This is not a easy vehicle to build if you want the real thing. The weight alone you are not going to get a big power off tiny electric. Central power unit with chain driven linked inside those two shafts on each wheels. Controlling suspensions independently is another huge task. I am not saying this is impossible but maybe impractical on this planet.
I think your all wrong! I would say that it has 4 separate motors. One electric motor inside the wheel per wheel. Some things need to be thought/engineered over more. But overall vary nice. Also it needs a pod on the back that opens up to reveal the cargo area! Looks to me like a S&RV.
Can we get a little explanation, I don't see transaxles or driveshafts. Are the cylinders in the center the drive motors? If they are, and are feasable, it would be a great off roader sort of acts like a trailer with a trailing arm suspension pretty nice job, if you can make it work.
i disagree, i think an explanation would only make it seem less plausible. althought it could be built i think well sooner see this in a game than in production.
@mcbabbions: if you share your work is supposed to see some critics good one and bad ones... if you don't want that your work be criticized dont share it or share it without message enable! dont you agree!?
It sounds like you're commenting on how the model is rendered rather than the design itself.
To that end, Sketchup supports a number of 3rd party plugins, so the model could be rendered much more realistically, within sketchup, just by utilizing Vray or something simmilar.
make an RC car from this! it would be possible, but extremely difficult. 5 stars coz it would make an awesome drift machine (no wieght over the back wheels you see)
Well... Vanilla Sketchup, no... But google 'SketchyPhysics'. Right now it has motors that are either on or off from the getgo, but the next version is supposed to have WASD support. Cool stuff :D
y'know what would be cool? if when you put that on google earth, make it MASSIVE, and then go into the flight sim mode and fly around it! (flight sim is in tools menu, or some combination of like ctrl alt a, i dunno) that would be SWEET!
5*! excellent work, you should ad some classical music with youtube's remix tool ( vivaldi's 4 season , classical music has no copyright ), and in "about this video" an accurate description, to help people finding you...

I could see a wire leading to altenator style generators that would power the wheels indivdually.

magnectically driven wheels? iono how are you going to power it ? lol
kimchijeegeah2 1 year ago
skip chain drive, go straight to hub motors with integral gears, like fork lifts and jcb's
andd that to a fuel cell it will go anywhere, and suspension easy
