I think there are two possible reasons why Obama doesn't support Caprio, 1. Obama supports Chafee, They served together in Congress & He knows the direction He will take the State, Chafee was only a Republican because His Father was & even then He was a Rino (Republican in name only) He voted with the Democrats most of the time, 2. Clinton has been campaigning for Caprio & this may be because of the friction between Obama & the Clinton's. I bet Bill would just love to be the First Husband, LOL.
