Wpg is a small city of 700,000 people who I don't think can fork out an average of $90-100 (U.S.) PER GAME for 41 home games in an arena of 15,100 capacity just to pay the player's salaries alone, assuming a $56 million cap, never mind other expenses. Plus, how much TV revenue could you possibly generate in a town of 700,000?

Talking about QMJHL the remparts just broke another avg attendance record with 11722 fans a game and that's just junior hockey. There were 3 sellout crowds but for some reason the announced crowd was slightly under 15399

I wonder if it was certain an arena would be built if QUebec city could get a team before building is finished? They could play in the Colisée until the new arena is done. NHL Gary Buttman says it's not suited for hockey but at least it would be better for a team to play in front of 15399 people in a old rink in Quebec instead of 10000 people in an american brand new arena.

I just hope that when it's done that at least food will be better though

there used to be a time where the NHL was only canadian teams (way back before the Original Six era). It was the Toronto Arenas (which became the Maple Leafs), Ottawa Senators (not the current franchise, one that folded during the 2nd world war), the Montreal Wanderers (which folded after their 6th game because their arena caught fire) and Montreal Canadiens.

Afterward the majority of teams were still canadians until the 1967 expansion
