  • I find that for artists just starting out- or artists that have been doing it for several years- this is good advice. Even doing a little bit each day really makes a difference, doesn't it? Thank you for this video.

  • Thank you.

  • I'm just starting out drawing again for the first time in about 8 years. Part of my problem at this point is just doing it and accepting bad things. I've spent so much time looking at other peoples work, admiring it, and when I attempt to do something and it fails miserably I really do get a bad feeling. I know with practice will come better work, but I can't shake the feeling that maybe its too late for me. Seems like all the great artists started when they were very very young, I can't keep up

  • @MacEwanMouse It sure helps to start early! your channel says your only 20. I didn't start til I was 18, and didn't really get going til i was about 27. there's lots of time. Don't be hard on yourself. If you are negative about your work, that's where it will go. enjoy the positive bits and work on them. allow them to take you in the direction your natural talent lies. and practice. see my advice videos too in the advice for artists playlist

  • Thanks... It help a lot!

  • I wish you were my elementary teacher or something. Just something about your general persona feels so warm and encouraging! Ive just gotten into drawing myself, nothing serious just small doodles to pass the time with when Im bored.

  • @ItsBuckful you never know where those doodles might lead you!

  • Thanks for posting this up. I've been drawing for almost six years now. Started from zero drawing ability, worked my way to having a decent standard.

But there's so. many. great. people out there who are so damn better at what they do. Then I look at my crap standard and wonder what I've been trying to reach for.

At least you're saying that this sort of stuff is not unusual, which gives me a bit of hope.

  • @wetyewruyrtsutrdhjfg Trust me - all those great artist are asking themselves the same questions you are every day - The strong survive and the weak give up and play video games instead!

  • I'm so glad I found this video! I can't tell you how much this advice has helped and inspire me!! Thank you so much!!!

  • @ford1go That's great - go forth and do good stuff :D

  • Well, Mr. Rayner! You have done something good today as well! You've given me motivation and put a smile on my face :) Thanks sir!

  • @redjagstang7 Yay! Don't talk about it (snap) just do it! :)

  • @redjagstang7 Great - all the best

  • Thank you so much for posting this. It means a lot to me. :)

  • @1StopMusic No problem and good luck! :-)

  • I like to dance, draw, and write stories, and right now I am going through what you just explain about not having faith. This whole week I was thinking I am not good at dancing, I can't draw as good anymore, I can't figure out what to write Anyways, I began to cry, even though your were laughing, because I needed this advice/motivation at a time like this since I thought I was no good anymore. So thank you for the motivation~!

  • @TheGoofyGoth Aww! Give yourself a great big hug, Pick yourself up and do the first little thing you can think of that you can complete and do well. Just take tiny steps and achieve each one, one at a time. There's no hurry!

    Good luck! :-)

  • Could you do a tutorial of how to draw

    The annoying orange please

  • @pausetheDVD Sorry, I can't do other people's copyright characters

  • i LOVE all your videos, BUT this one is the absolutely the best!!

    thanks for sharing ~

  • @rasjahsunyogi Thanks!

  • aww sorry your so tired, but thanks for posting this anyway :) its very inspiring and encouraging...thanks, i constantly struggle with the idea that i will never make it and i am not a good enough artist but i just have to keep telling myslef that i can do it and i can be successful! i wont be happy doing anything else..i've tried LOL...so thanks, i will take your advice to heart :)

  • Inspiring

  • you have a nice camera

  • @GellyRolll Thanks - it's a lumix g2

  • great advice : ) i need to build up my stamina and my motivation for starting a routine of drawing, i always think whats the point in doing a sketch it wont be that good and i could have been doing something better, but that then makes be feel overwhelmed and that i haven't practiced enough to start a finished piece of work. arrhh lol

  • @iona407 Totally know what you mean. I was like that too for a long time but just recently I started to force myself to wake up an hour earlier and draw before work. It's really great actually because you get your practice in and you feel like you've done something productive.

  • @iona407 Just think about now. tomorrow can sort itself out when it comes. learn today make it better tomorrow. as long as you keep striving you will improve. Have faith in yourself.

  • wonderful advice. thanx !

  • are you using a green sceen

  • @Geovani986 No - that's my studio in the background!

  • my school blocks your website.. o.e

  • @TheTilly010 You could ask them to un block it!

  • @ShooRaynerDrawing true.. but then my schools so big i dunno why they would if its just one person?

  • @TheTilly010 they can probably unblock from the centre so all terminals are ok. - that's if they can be bothered!

  • @ShooRaynerDrawing nah theres so many in my school...and they properly wont be bothered plus if they did everyone would just use facebook and all that in lesson?

  • @TheTilly010 no i think he means just un-block his site lol, they can do that, my school bans loads of sites (including all the music sites -.-) lol which annoys me, but we all live with it, just ask them, you'll never know unless you try :3

  • "Keep The Faith" .. That's a great Bon Jovi song.. :b Anyway, thnx for the help! :)

  • Whever I see a better artist than me and think about the future I say to myself "I'll be better that that one day" :)

  • What you do is so creative, so for me what you do is even better than what you might consider to be a ‘normal job’. Thanks for sharing :)

  • sorry tosay Shoo but I found a better artist than you he's on t.v. on channel 6(CBC)and his show is on at 7:00am(wake up early) and the show is called Artzooka!

  • @lightningbolt61 There are many artists much better than me! Sorry, but I can't get that channel in the UK. Looking at their website, they do seem to be a bigger operation than me. I do everything on my own on table top, so you'll have to forgive me a little. all the best :-D

  • @lightningbolt61 way to be a dick man

  • @lightningbolt61 who cares if the artist is better? at the end of the day it doesn't matter who is better.. and you dont have to tell him you found a better artist. -.-

  • @TheTilly010

It actually looks like some kind of stupid advertising. If it's not, then this bolt61 guy is either complete asshole or idiot, or both, which is more likely.

  • @sozoshu both probs..

  • @lightningbolt61

Who cares what you found? If it's better for you in some way, just go ahead and watch it. No one needs to know your preferences.

  • FIRST (sorry)

  • @jaws33321 don't appologise!
