@ESH318V8 Negative. In fact, I got about 1mpg better on average. However, since I can move slightly more air out of the combustion chamber, I can put slightly more air in, which means more fuel as well. So if Im on the pedal (I have fun EVERY time I drive) I get about 22-24mpg city.

@boneslicer93 I got most of them from Jegs, some from Summit Racing. This was a truely DIY exhaust that some people bash, but I had fun with it and I like the outcome. Im not afraid to do stuff to my car like most people.
I cant post links for some reason, they just disappear. Just search for a thread titled "Hopefully Not another Spun bearing Thread" by my username, Nightviper19
Nice job man. Sounds really nice. I have the exact same car. I put 3sx LT headers plus 2.5 test pipe on mine so its cat free too. but I've yet to put a new exhaust on it yet. Can't decide what i want.
Ya pre cats are gone too. I did buy the 02 sims and put them in but the engine light did come on still so right now im drivin with it on but it doesn't affect anything. So i prolly didn't put them in right lol. When I get the time im going to fix it.
Wow, where to start. I didnt get a VR4 because I simply did not want one. I had an 11 sec Mustang (shown in video) and I have two 10 sec bikes. Ive never lined up next to something I couldnt beat.
So why would I want a twin turbo, AWD, AWS, ECS, etc... on my daily driver? Thats just more stuff to go wrong, and take a look on 3si, because it does go wrong. I got the speed, what I needed was a sexy little DD for the commuting.
Also, several Autocross guys prefer NA. Thanks for your input.
I could give 2 mierda's about all the electronic crap. I've already removed the AWS, ECS, Active aero and working on the active exhaust (which is why i found this vid)
People like different types of cars. I'd seriously own a pink Honda Fit before i'd own ANY mustang. The problem with american cars is they were made by Americans. (up untill we started outsourcing everything to Mexico.)
I simply prefer AWD, TT. It's just nice to know we are in the R34 GT-R league.
I honestly expected to laugh my ass off when I watched this video, but not bad at all. That sounds really nice, nice enough to make it worth logging in to give you a "good job"
nice exhaust dude. sounds amazing. i was contemplating whether or not to put a new exhaust system on mine, but would it fuck up my emissions? and if so to the extent were i can pass smog
What year is yours? The Cali-spec cars have precats and the larger cat. I believe that if you removed the large cat, you would fail an E-test, but I dont know for sure.
You can do whatever you want after the cat, like the aptly named "cat-back" system. For the price of a Borla, you could buy a welder and all the pipes and tools needed to make your own, and design your own sound.
Yeah, if you dont touch the cat, then you can pass smog. Basically you would mimic my design, but just do it after the cat, obviously. If your not good at welding, then use band clamps. I've never had one fail when used correctly. Just gotta make the pipes curve around the tank.
Hey i need a little advice.. i hav 94' 3000GTVR4 and right now my exhaust noise is ok to me but i wanna make it louder... can i just make a straight 2.5" piping aftr the downpipe(pretty much like de-cat) all the way to my 3" inlet catback? Will it affect anything?
Well, the stock exhaust creates plenty of back pressure, meets emission standards, and makes the sucker very quiet. That was the goals of the stock system, so it performed well at that.
But yes, the amount of canisters seems rediculous and unneccessary :D
i will lol i mean i dont realy have the welding skill 2 do my own and ya lol bolt on is the best i got u know plus i dont have the tools needed to weld up my own
Yep, I have 3si as a permanent open window, actually more than one. ;-)
Oil, just on the inside, nearly dripping.
The only oil on the outside was the oil cap, which I replaced, and the large nut on the bottom of the rack and pinion steering unit but of course that is not engine oil.
You cant remove the cat and pass inspection. You will also get a Check engine light and your fuel mixture will be running off tables instead of real time sensors.
By two inch rise I was referring to that right before the cross over piece, in the original exhaust, the piping starts to curve upward and when it gets to the mufflers it is about 2 inches above the long run sections.
I have the 93 base DOHC.
I've heard about "precats" but all my car came with was the cat, resonator, what I call the mini muffler, then the plumbers night mare of the muffler cross over and pseudo muffler that looks like another resonator with tips added. The factory stock setup.
Yeah, yours is a first gen, so you got no precats. And your exhaust is a little bit different than mine, so Im not sure where the rise is. I ran mine entirely straight from the flex. Sorry, but Im sure 3si would be more help.
Can you tell me how you handled the 2 inch rise at the back of the exhaust system?
I am about to do a similar operation. I bought a new down pipe that matches the old one, except it is larger diameter of course, and I'm putting a high flow cat back on so I can get inspected.
What 2 inch rise are you talking about? If you have a VR4, this setup will be much more difficult because of the extra driveshaft and AWS.
Im not a fan of high flow cats. I still have my 2 pre cats, so I think I would fair "ok" on an inspection, but I dont know for sure. Havent thrown a code since the o2 sensors are depending on the precats.
Well, its not a hard setup. Pretty straight forward actually. Like I said before, all you need is the right pipe,a welder, and most importantly, Skill.
Skill not only with the welder, but with the placement and construction of the set. Basically I tried to copy the expensive exhaust setups I saw for my car, and made it myself. I dont know if I would use my video as a guide, but more of a suggestion with results.
Well, Alot of it is going to be proprietary to your car. I also made my own downpipe, so if you dont decide to do that exactly as I did, then my measurements will do you no good.
The measurements for what I bought are in the end of the video, and in one of the first comments posted on here. Let me know if you need anything else. But its all kinda how it feels under the car.
The Super 44 hits when I downshift, so I had to put a piece of radiator hose to stop it. Engineer that out of it...
I left the cats and still have a muffler, so back pressure is reduced but not eliminated. When you open up an exhaust system and let the engine breathe freely, you lose some balls (or torq) but you gain it back in the powerband.
I think I have a good amount of back pressure because it doesnt feel any less torqy (Even though it should) and I definately feel it pull much harder to the redline.
A search on 3si would give a more accurate answer by people who know more than me :D
Hey dude I love the sound, I gotta quick question for you. If I were to take my 3kGT to a shop that installs exhaust, do you think they could replicate what you did to your 3kGT in your video?
Well, kinda. Certified exhaust shops wont touch a cat, and I got rid of mine. If you have the TT, or at least the AWD version, then you will have less room under the car for piping. This will make it difficult to replicate what I did.
I also doubt that a shop would destroy a downpipe as I did. But you never know...
Damn,.. well if the cat stays would it still have some what of the same sound? I have a basic 3kGT FWD and I was planning on getting a new exhaust over the summer, but I have no idea whats good.. I just don't wanna get stuck with a crappy rice sound..
Well, mine even sounds a bit ricey up past 5500 revs. The cat would make it quieter and restrict flow, along with the opportunity cost of 5-7hp.
If you got a welder, just do it yourself like I did. Not hard, just a sawzall, a welder, and a trusty measuring tape. There are bolt on systems that are more expensive, but all you need is a jack and ratchet because everything is bolt on.
Is yours a DOHC? SOHC dont push as much air, so you might want smaller piping.
Well even if it does have a ricey sound past 5k, it wouldn't really matter to me. I usually shift around 3-4k.
But unfortunately I don't have a welder,.. and yeah its a DOHC. I'll probably just take her down to an exhaust shop sometime next week and see what they can do. Thanks again for the info. Btw, how many miles do you have on your 3kGt? Mines a bit past 50k.
Woah, you need to drive your car more :). I just rolled over 125k, and this is my daily driver. If you have an exhaust shop do it, make sure they DONT use a large flex section. Just one 6-8in Braided Flex Pipe.
Take a pic when its up on the lift of it finished. I like to see what a professional shop does as opposed to me. Good Luck!
im interested in adding flowmaster in my gt but do you only need the muffler for the sound or do i have to do other stuff like in the video. please reply
In order to get the full sound, you have to get rid of all that extra garbage in the way. As you can see, the stock setup was very restrictive, not rev happy, and quiet. The "In and Out" aspect of the stock muffler is going to be hard to duplicate with the muffler I used. Let me know what you do.
I contemplated many different setups before choosing what I did. I was able to listen to other exhaust setups of my friends with 3S's, so I knew exactly what I wanted.
nice job, i am looking at doing something similar to my 96 eclipse. i am thinking of putting the y pipe so i can do custom hot rod tips infrount of the rear wheels. what is your take on that?
Hot rod tips in front of the rear wheels? Kinda odd for a Import, but it will add that "custom" touch. Does your Eclipse have the 6G72? If its only got a four banger, dont run dual exhaust without a lot of restriction, or else its gonna loud and tinny as hell, as well as losing "balls" in the lower revs. Let me know what you do.
Very, very nice. I live in Colorado and worry about the emissions. If I bought a downpipe and used those mini cats do you think I would pass emissions? Is your state strict on that? Colo has testing centers. I'd hate to go to all that work and then get a thumbs down. Do you think a downpipe followed by my stock cat and then the Flowmaster and then the split would have basically the same sound? By the way you do excellent work. Thanks very much!Rob
Hmm, no idea about passing emissions. That would suck to do all that and not pass inspections. The cat is gonna quiet it down mainly, so you dont get that rumble. My state isnt too bad on emissions, not like Cali or something. Good luck!
Yes! I've never done exhaust before so I want to order the parts correctly. The pipe that enters the muffle is 2.5 right? The pipe that exit's is 2.25 so a 2.5 pipe slips over it? In other word the pipe from the cat back is 2.5 and the pipe you used after the muffler is also 2.5?
I do appreciate your time and I just want to do it right!
Not quite, the 2.5 in pipe will fit over it, but will not fit right. The muffler from Flowmaster says 2.25, but that means that a 2.25 in pipe will slip over it perfectly. So just match the pipe with the size on the muffler, and you should be good. Use a welder or band clamps, none of that typical circular exhast clamp garbage. Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks again, you've been a great help! Is there an particular performance reason you went with the 2.25 outlet? I know different sizes effect torque. I'm going to order the muffler today right from the Flowmaster site and I hope this will be the best price.....
Just that a NA V6 doesnt move a whole lot of air. If you go too big (AKA Not enough back pressure), you will get that ricey, buzzy sound.
Actually, I believe that I just welded the pipes straight to each other. At the very worst, you will have to get a swelled pipe to fit over the 2.25 in muffler, or band clamp (If you dont like welding). Let me know how it goes.
sounds awesome. i just had a super 44 put on my truck. sounds awesome on a 460. haha but your 3000gt sounds great. i love that custom work. sounds great. check out my exhuast once i get a vid up.
I've heard several, since Im part of the 3S community around here and go to the meets. Tanabe and Borla sound too tinny for me, but the turbos are gonna make your exhaust sound raspy no matter what you do to it. I love my flowmaster sound. You might go a bit bigger piping than I did because a VR4 moves more air.
Have you heard any other 3000gt exhausts? how does it compare to "fart can" exhausts.
Was thinking some nice dual tips with a single 44 series, 3 inch in, 2.5 out x2 similar to yours except for my VR4. I have a tanabe on my stealth and im trying to find a muffler that will make it much deeper
If you look at the car next to it in the "before" shot, then you'll see my background. That Mustang had two Super 44s :) I just like the Muscly sound.
'cause I've got a 1976 El Camino and I've already got the single in dual out flowmaster and i've already cut the pipe after the cat so all I would really need is the piping
thats fine bro...any pointers i can give to my welder to get that quality out my exhaust

Where did you get this setup from bc i have a '97 3000gt and im tryin to find some exhaust
boneslicer93 1 year ago
@boneslicer93 I got most of them from Jegs, some from Summit Racing. This was a truely DIY exhaust that some people bash, but I had fun with it and I like the outcome. Im not afraid to do stuff to my car like most people.
Nightviper88 1 year ago
@Nightviper88 how much did it cost you?
boneslicer93 1 year ago
@boneslicer93 This was already covered in the other comments. It was about 250 in parts.

try an Flowmaster Outlaw 3.5"
to a Ypipe Flowmaster Scavenger 3.5" to dual 3"
it would sound tities!

Im happy with the Super 44, and I dont think the NA's move enough air to constitute a 3.5 in pipe. I am going to add a resonator though...

Thanks bud. All it takes is a welder, pipe, skill and time. :-)

Jegs. I might have ordered the flex through summit racing or something, but all the piping and clamps were purchased through Jegs.

BigYerke 2 years ago
Sorry, dont have any footage of that. That was my first car that I had from age 16 to 20, bought it for 2500 all beat up and sold it for 11 grand.
Man do I miss that car. Still get plenty of looks and compliments in the 3S and on the bikes, but theres something about American Muscle...

How long what take? The whole process, about 5 hours to get it welded and getting the kinks out.

Nice job man. Sounds really nice. I have the exact same car. I put 3sx LT headers plus 2.5 test pipe on mine so its cat free too. but I've yet to put a new exhaust on it yet. Can't decide what i want.
njwolf2k9 2 years ago
You got rid of the precats? Did you use 02 sims, or just roll with a check engine light?
Let me know what you do.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Ya pre cats are gone too. I did buy the 02 sims and put them in but the engine light did come on still so right now im drivin with it on but it doesn't affect anything. So i prolly didn't put them in right lol. When I get the time im going to fix it.
njwolf2k9 2 years ago
If you really want to be as cool as you think you are, get a VR4, or at least put a Twin Turbo setup on your SL.
All you're missing right now is the O and the W.
ichbingott4510 2 years ago
Wow, where to start. I didnt get a VR4 because I simply did not want one. I had an 11 sec Mustang (shown in video) and I have two 10 sec bikes. Ive never lined up next to something I couldnt beat.
So why would I want a twin turbo, AWD, AWS, ECS, etc... on my daily driver? Thats just more stuff to go wrong, and take a look on 3si, because it does go wrong. I got the speed, what I needed was a sexy little DD for the commuting.
Also, several Autocross guys prefer NA. Thanks for your input.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
@Nightviper88
It's just nice to know we are in the R34 GT-R league.

mattmerritt89 2 years ago
The pipe or the muffler? Either way, everything was purchase at Jegs.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Did you make the s bends or buy them? I looked every where on jegs.
mattmerritt89 2 years ago
I made the S bends. Basically its a U bend that I cut in half and flipped.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
alright. was urs a stock downpipe?
and diagram basically is
downpipe--> straight pipe --> cat -->
4464171 2 years ago
to pipe --> muffler --.> straight pipe --> bends around tank--> straight to tips
4464171 2 years ago
Yeah, if you go on 3si and look for a thread called Exhaust Setups, on the 6th page, I put my new downpipe and it shows pictures of everything.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
nice exhaust dude. sounds amazing. i was contemplating whether or not to put a new exhaust system on mine, but would it fuck up my emissions? and if so to the extent were i can pass smog
4464171 2 years ago
cant*
4464171 2 years ago
What year is yours? The Cali-spec cars have precats and the larger cat. I believe that if you removed the large cat, you would fail an E-test, but I dont know for sure.
You can do whatever you want after the cat, like the aptly named "cat-back" system. For the price of a Borla, you could buy a welder and all the pipes and tools needed to make your own, and design your own sound.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
i have a 1994 base. i wasnt go as far as a borla, but i just want something a lil louder than the stock. but i still want to pass smog.
but if i keep the cat in, then add a super 44 it would sounds nice a possibly pass smog?
4464171 2 years ago
Yeah, if you dont touch the cat, then you can pass smog. Basically you would mimic my design, but just do it after the cat, obviously. If your not good at welding, then use band clamps. I've never had one fail when used correctly. Just gotta make the pipes curve around the tank.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Hey i need a little advice.. i hav 94' 3000GTVR4 and right now my exhaust noise is ok to me but i wanna make it louder... can i just make a straight 2.5" piping aftr the downpipe(pretty much like de-cat) all the way to my 3" inlet catback? Will it affect anything?
Thnx
Synnics 2 years ago
thanks brah i did this same thing but without the cat and the backpressure is fine... thanks again!
twolve647 2 years ago
Good to hear. If you post pics or anything let me know.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
must say the stock Exhausts syestem on the 3000gt are stupid lol i just got myn and i look under it and im like wtf thats alot of chambers lol
tristan687 2 years ago
Well, the stock exhaust creates plenty of back pressure, meets emission standards, and makes the sucker very quiet. That was the goals of the stock system, so it performed well at that.
But yes, the amount of canisters seems rediculous and unneccessary :D
Nightviper88 2 years ago
ya must say cant wayt to get my Borla Exhaust system

Nightviper88 2 years ago
Yep, I have 3si as a permanent open window, actually more than one. ;-)
Oil, just on the inside, nearly dripping.
The only oil on the outside was the oil cap, which I replaced, and the large nut on the bottom of the rack and pinion steering unit but of course that is not engine oil.
chefron8 2 years ago
Got new problem now anyway. I was getting ready to put on my new down pipe and found oil in the front header opening.
chefron8 2 years ago
Is it burning oil, or is something leaking onto the header opening? Again, 3si FTW
Nightviper88 2 years ago
My 02sensor screws into the side of the down pipe just before the cat.
chefron8 2 years ago
You cant remove the cat and pass inspection. You will also get a Check engine light and your fuel mixture will be running off tables instead of real time sensors.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
By two inch rise I was referring to that right before the cross over piece, in the original exhaust, the piping starts to curve upward and when it gets to the mufflers it is about 2 inches above the long run sections.
I have the 93 base DOHC.
I've heard about "precats" but all my car came with was the cat, resonator, what I call the mini muffler, then the plumbers night mare of the muffler cross over and pseudo muffler that looks like another resonator with tips added. The factory stock setup.
chefron8 2 years ago
Yeah, yours is a first gen, so you got no precats. And your exhaust is a little bit different than mine, so Im not sure where the rise is. I ran mine entirely straight from the flex. Sorry, but Im sure 3si would be more help.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Can you tell me how you handled the 2 inch rise at the back of the exhaust system?
I am about to do a similar operation. I bought a new down pipe that matches the old one, except it is larger diameter of course, and I'm putting a high flow cat back on so I can get inspected.
chefron8 2 years ago
What 2 inch rise are you talking about? If you have a VR4, this setup will be much more difficult because of the extra driveshaft and AWS.
Im not a fan of high flow cats. I still have my 2 pre cats, so I think I would fair "ok" on an inspection, but I dont know for sure. Havent thrown a code since the o2 sensors are depending on the precats.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Okay do you think i can make something like that in shop? What kinda tools do i need?
Pimp3ter 2 years ago
Well, its not a hard setup. Pretty straight forward actually. Like I said before, all you need is the right pipe,a welder, and most importantly, Skill.
Skill not only with the welder, but with the placement and construction of the set. Basically I tried to copy the expensive exhaust setups I saw for my car, and made it myself. I dont know if I would use my video as a guide, but more of a suggestion with results.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
that would be great... Just tell me everything I need with all the measurements and everything...
larryhispeed 2 years ago
Well, Alot of it is going to be proprietary to your car. I also made my own downpipe, so if you dont decide to do that exactly as I did, then my measurements will do you no good.
The measurements for what I bought are in the end of the video, and in one of the first comments posted on here. Let me know if you need anything else. But its all kinda how it feels under the car.
The Super 44 hits when I downshift, so I had to put a piece of radiator hose to stop it. Engineer that out of it...

I have a 3000gt that i really need to start doing stuff too and i just fell in love with your exhaust...
larryhispeed 2 years ago
I cant make you one, especially since you are in Texas and Im not.
I can give you advice or specs or what have you, but the main thing needed here is a welder and skill.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
nice sound bro but i got a question. when you removed all that stuff do you have any problems with back pressure?
twolve647 2 years ago
I left the cats and still have a muffler, so back pressure is reduced but not eliminated. When you open up an exhaust system and let the engine breathe freely, you lose some balls (or torq) but you gain it back in the powerband.
I think I have a good amount of back pressure because it doesnt feel any less torqy (Even though it should) and I definately feel it pull much harder to the redline.
A search on 3si would give a more accurate answer by people who know more than me :D
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Hey dude I love the sound, I gotta quick question for you. If I were to take my 3kGT to a shop that installs exhaust, do you think they could replicate what you did to your 3kGT in your video?
Thanks for your time
KoRnKsE 2 years ago
Well, kinda. Certified exhaust shops wont touch a cat, and I got rid of mine. If you have the TT, or at least the AWD version, then you will have less room under the car for piping. This will make it difficult to replicate what I did.
I also doubt that a shop would destroy a downpipe as I did. But you never know...
Let me know what you do.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Damn,.. well if the cat stays would it still have some what of the same sound? I have a basic 3kGT FWD and I was planning on getting a new exhaust over the summer, but I have no idea whats good.. I just don't wanna get stuck with a crappy rice sound..
Do you have any suggestion on what I could do?
Thanks for the reply!
KoRnKsE 2 years ago
Well, mine even sounds a bit ricey up past 5500 revs. The cat would make it quieter and restrict flow, along with the opportunity cost of 5-7hp.
If you got a welder, just do it yourself like I did. Not hard, just a sawzall, a welder, and a trusty measuring tape. There are bolt on systems that are more expensive, but all you need is a jack and ratchet because everything is bolt on.
Is yours a DOHC? SOHC dont push as much air, so you might want smaller piping.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Well even if it does have a ricey sound past 5k, it wouldn't really matter to me. I usually shift around 3-4k.
But unfortunately I don't have a welder,.. and yeah its a DOHC. I'll probably just take her down to an exhaust shop sometime next week and see what they can do. Thanks again for the info. Btw, how many miles do you have on your 3kGt? Mines a bit past 50k.
KoRnKsE 2 years ago
Woah, you need to drive your car more :). I just rolled over 125k, and this is my daily driver. If you have an exhaust shop do it, make sure they DONT use a large flex section. Just one 6-8in Braided Flex Pipe.
Take a pic when its up on the lift of it finished. I like to see what a professional shop does as opposed to me. Good Luck!
Nightviper88 2 years ago
haha good shit thanks bro, ill def let ya kno, btw nice 3000
SizeUp44 2 years ago
approx. how much do u think the overall cost of this would be?
SizeUp44 2 years ago
For me, I just went to Jegs and got all the parts. I may have ordered the flex pipe off summit or something.
2 U bends - $20
1 Straight pipe - $10
1 Flex pipe - $40
1 Super 44 - $80
DIY Downpipe - Priceless
Approx $150, assuming you do all the work yourself, and the prices are the same. Let me know what you do.

CrimsonFox209 2 years ago
im interested in adding flowmaster in my gt but do you only need the muffler for the sound or do i have to do other stuff like in the video. please reply
CrimsonFox209 2 years ago
In order to get the full sound, you have to get rid of all that extra garbage in the way. As you can see, the stock setup was very restrictive, not rev happy, and quiet. The "In and Out" aspect of the stock muffler is going to be hard to duplicate with the muffler I used. Let me know what you do.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
i think you should of put a resonator on it thats just my opinion
Kenny9596 2 years ago
I contemplated many different setups before choosing what I did. I was able to listen to other exhaust setups of my friends with 3S's, so I knew exactly what I wanted.
Thanks for the input though.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
nice job, i am looking at doing something similar to my 96 eclipse. i am thinking of putting the y pipe so i can do custom hot rod tips infrount of the rear wheels. what is your take on that?
zorny79 2 years ago
Hot rod tips in front of the rear wheels? Kinda odd for a Import, but it will add that "custom" touch. Does your Eclipse have the 6G72? If its only got a four banger, dont run dual exhaust without a lot of restriction, or else its gonna loud and tinny as hell, as well as losing "balls" in the lower revs. Let me know what you do.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Very, very nice. I live in Colorado and worry about the emissions. If I bought a downpipe and used those mini cats do you think I would pass emissions? Is your state strict on that? Colo has testing centers. I'd hate to go to all that work and then get a thumbs down. Do you think a downpipe followed by my stock cat and then the Flowmaster and then the split would have basically the same sound? By the way you do excellent work. Thanks very much!Rob
subwayco 2 years ago
Hmm, no idea about passing emissions. That would suck to do all that and not pass inspections. The cat is gonna quiet it down mainly, so you dont get that rumble. My state isnt too bad on emissions, not like Cali or something. Good luck!
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Thanks for the reply! I watch your video evrey so often just to hear that sweet sound. Would the 2.50 in and 2.50 out . be about right?
I do appreciate your help!!!
Rob
subwayco 2 years ago
Well, for my setup, I did the 2.5 in then 2.25 out on the muffler. Is that what your asking?
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Thanks,
Rob
subwayco 2 years ago
Not quite, the 2.5 in pipe will fit over it, but will not fit right. The muffler from Flowmaster says 2.25, but that means that a 2.25 in pipe will slip over it perfectly. So just match the pipe with the size on the muffler, and you should be good. Use a welder or band clamps, none of that typical circular exhast clamp garbage. Let me know if you need more info.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Thanks again, you've been a great help! Is there an particular performance reason you went with the 2.25 outlet? I know different sizes effect torque. I'm going to order the muffler today right from the Flowmaster site and I hope this will be the best price.....
Rob
subwayco 2 years ago
Just that a NA V6 doesnt move a whole lot of air. If you go too big (AKA Not enough back pressure), you will get that ricey, buzzy sound.
Actually, I believe that I just welded the pipes straight to each other. At the very worst, you will have to get a swelled pipe to fit over the 2.25 in muffler, or band clamp (If you dont like welding). Let me know how it goes.

stockxcarx29 2 years ago
I've heard several, since Im part of the 3S community around here and go to the meets. Tanabe and Borla sound too tinny for me, but the turbos are gonna make your exhaust sound raspy no matter what you do to it. I love my flowmaster sound. You might go a bit bigger piping than I did because a VR4 moves more air.
Nightviper88 2 years ago
Have you heard any other 3000gt exhausts? how does it compare to "fart can" exhausts.
Was thinking some nice dual tips with a single 44 series, 3 inch in, 2.5 out x2 similar to yours except for my VR4. I have a tanabe on my stealth and im trying to find a muffler that will make it much deeper

'cause I've got a 1976 El Camino and I've already got the single in dual out flowmaster and i've already cut the pipe after the cat so all I would really need is the piping
