This is some shitty Machine Head song, I hate to say. But on the bright side the band has without a doubt done nothing but better since those earlier days. Fuck yeah. The Blackening FTW.
@mega666maggot666 aaaaaaaaaaaa!!aaaaaaaaaaa!!!wtf,holy cow!!!aaaaaaa!!!youre a fuckin lucky persooooon!!!i hope rise against come to greece!!!aaaaaaaa!!!
@nimakoulas oops i ment to say "next month" :) come to hungary ;D well yes, i guess i am a fuckin lucky person because hungary is so close to slovenia :D
Theres 2 reasons why 1999 to 2002 were Machine Head's most embarrassing years and most painful and that is because of the music business and Ahrue Luster, back in the day from 1997 to 2001 and maybe 2002 Nu metal was selling like cocaine, so Road Runner Records influence Machine Head to do more commercial music like Nu Metal so that the label can make revenue, Ahrue Luster himself is a huge fan of that style of music, so after MH decided to go back to their old sound Luster left, thank GOD!
@damb83 Don't get me wrong but this is all bullshit. MH become changing to "Nu" style during THTC years (Look at Take My Scars video, Robb with short chaircut, Logan Mader with dreadlocks). I think all mess with numetal was idea of all band members. Just call it creativity. New horizonts, new direction...
@damb83 I see nothing wrong with this song or the albums MH put out in this time period, it's all about being progressive and diverse. I am glad they just didn't try to keep remaking 'Burn My Eyes' or 'More Things Change'
nothing embarassing or painful about this time period in MH history.
@AngryAgain Actually it could be considered pretty embarassing and painful, considering how obviously they changed to a style that was all the rage at the moment (': Which ofcourse has nothing to do with the quality of the records, personally I like this.
Why is there so much hate for Hip Hop and Rap? Hip Hop and Rap and Metal/Rock etc have influenced each other since the beginning. God damn, it only happens with Metal fans, too. All this hating of other Genres. It's kinda sad.
If you're dumb enough to have to ask why people hate hiphop and rap, you're obviously too stupid to process the answer that I or anybody else would give you, so I won't
No. Musical diversity doesn't make some one 'Stupid'. I'm not on about the poor excuse of Hip Hop and Rap that is played over the Radio these days. I'm on about the old school style Rap and Hip Hop which had emotion and meaning. You're exactly the reason Metal-Heads have a bad reputation. Like I said Hip Hop and Metal have been influencing each other for years. Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park pulled it off well. (I know they aren't exactly Metal but it highlights my point). Grow up.
@Donnelly182 as a metalhead myself, i like other genres aswell. i just like good music. rock, alternative, prog, hell i even enjoy some classical from time to time, but rap, hip hop, pop etc is so talentless and is just plain old bad music, so a true metalhead, is really just a musiclover.
It seems its cool to hate on the Supercharger & The Burning Red albums all because of 1 minute (tops) of rap style vocals on each disc. Like it or not the groove MH had on earlier albums was partly inspired by hip hop too.
The last couple of albums might be more metal but for me its all about the songs & emotion.
it doesn't really matter to me if they changed their music up a bit, Machine Head is a great band and in every song there is a message that penetrates the listeners' hearts every time. No matter what song I'm listening to whether it be Crashing Around You or Now I Lay Thee Down I get those chills that shoot adrenaline through me and if that feeling comes around every time then there's no reason to not stay loyal to their music. If you're a true Machine Head fan, you'll love every song they play.
@killinemfast Well, "From this day" is like nu-metal-disco-core on drugs. So fuckin' what dude? This was also a part of their history, which led them to their later masterpieces. I guess you were born a baby too, and matured. And while doing so, you must have done things that look stupid, looking back now, right? Like everybody else. :) Bear with it, I know it is painful... :D
@Gecc dont be a fuckin retard... machine head started out decent with "burn my eyes." this garbage right here though is not maturation, this is fucking sellout horseshit and its fucking terrible. they should not only be ashamed, imo they cannot be redeemed of this crap. their new shit 'locust' is pretty sub-par as well. these guys fell off... plain and simple. they suck
I find it interesting that Ahrue was on both the albums that were a departure from the core sound of MH, I love all the albums, but I don't love them equally. The video for this song had EPIC bad timing in it's release and content, I remember taping it from MTV, and never seeing it again after early september...
I have to admit I'm not a big fan of The Burning Red and Supercharger but they aren't anywhere near as bad as most people make them out to be. Supercharger has some great songs on it, most notably this, the title track, White Knuckle Blackout, Bulldozer, Deafening Silence, All In Your Head
@ScreaminSavior Dude, I was about to write same thing. I think all MH fans agree it was their low point, but hey no one's perfect, it's still same band, had some good songs on the album like bulldozer, trephination or american high
For all the close minded people out there who hate the "nu metal" albums, the band said in their fanpack mag, that they were also their most succesful albums so tell me..... was it really the worst they'd done?! :P
@BiiteThaBullet what I love most about machine head is that all their albums are different. the blackening is by far the best thing they have ever done and is a classic metal album but they are all great in their own way. this one and the burning red albums would have worked if MH didnt have a reputation for being one of the hardest bands about
Always loved machine head. Met Robb Flynn twice and the band too. Most amazing time. They are one of the best live bands I have seen. Don't get why this band has such little likes!
Call it selling out, call it shit, call it whatever you want but it's still fucking metal and until you get it through your thick skull you'll never go farther then "death metal" this and "thrash metal" that. Sure the song is mediocre but that's more between the eye of the beholder than a straight out fact. I don't care if you hate it but if you're going to, at least make a reasonable point about it. Not just "they suck because they sold out" but then again, asking this is a lost cause.
I see it as 3 groups. One group that doesn't mind Nu Metal MH but still finds their newer stuff better. The other group being hardasses that only like one genre and hate the rest (kinda the scum of metal) and the other group not giving a shit about ether. I love how such a united genre is so separated.
Hey you guys! This is a link to one of my bands older songs with some studio footage /watch?v=sOgnjKCyZO0, we'll be giving out 2 better recording now in October! Would be awesome if you could put a comment on what you think or atleast give it a listen!! Thanks guys \m/
Even though the 2 Nu Metalish albums by them were their worst albums, to me, they pulled off the sound alot better than most bands in the scene, while keeping a good groove feel in some songs on the albums (not in this song, mind you). I dunno though, inb4 flamewar. Just my two cents.
Sometimes a big reason a band sells out is because they are forced to or they wont be able to get on a record label which means they would have to say goodbye to their music career
Why is it that most "metal" bands that have tried to sell out tend to usually be American? not speaking against Americans or anything but seriously...why? is it the temptation of a big market and to make a lot of money?
Even back in these days(Pre- TTAOE) Machine Head had a godly line up. If you take a close listen to the lyrical content in this album(Supercharger) it's beyond godly. Machine Head, or should I say Robb Flynn, have always had a way with words. They've been godly from the start.
@EdisPro1337 I'm a big fan of Ahrue Luster's work, in ill Nino he's made one hell of a band, the line-up just wasn't in sink back in those days. If you've got the Unto the Locust fanpack there's tonnes of stuff about the line-up and how/why it changed.
@dantess9226 you are right and at this point they were trying something new, I like the burning red and supercharger even though a lot of people dont because its something new but ehh...we all love Machine Head and cant wait for Unto The Locust!
I really really really really love this song. don't particularly like the album, but this song.... oh gosh, it's frikkin good! everything after this is loads better, but I like how this is so different from the new albums. good stuff
I liked this album and I'm not afraid to admit it. As a young, impressionable guy it was just the thing going at the time. Of course if it hadn't been for this album the band may not have sunk into that time of tribulation and came back with a vengeance with TTAOE and The Blackening.
This is some shitty Machine Head song, I hate to say. But on the bright side the band has without a doubt done nothing but better since those earlier days. Fuck yeah. The Blackening FTW.

Why is it that most "metal" bands that have tried to sell out tend to usually be American? not speaking against Americans or anything but seriously...why? is it the temptation of a big market and to make a lot of money?

Am i right in thinking Phil Demmel wasn't in the band at this point? Cus as soon as he entered, Machine Head became a godly lineup!

@dantess9226

If you've got the Unto the Locust fanpack there's tonnes of stuff about the line-up and how/why it changed.
dantess9226 4 months ago
@dantess9226 Demmel wasn't in the band until Through the Ashes of Empires, but he played some shows with the band when Ahrue Luster left.

@dantess9226 you are right and at this point they were trying something new, I like the burning red and supercharger even though a lot of people dont because its something new but ehh...we all love Machine Head and cant wait for Unto The Locust!

@dantess9226 Phil is what brought Machine Head back away from this whole numetal/mallcore bullshit phase.

I liked this album and I'm not afraid to admit it. As a young, impressionable guy it was just the thing going at the time. Of course if it hadn't been for this album the band may not have sunk into that time of tribulation and came back with a vengeance with TTAOE and The Blackening.

Nu Metal is METAL. Your favorite genre of metal isn't the best.
