Went their concert in DC tonight at he 9:30 Club. It was just an awesome experience...the house was rocking! They played nearly all of their songs, we really go our money's worth ten-fold! And I got a hug from Franti before the show in the parking lot where he was warming up with a soccer ball. How great is that?! They are just super friendly and fun and so was the audience. I realy recommend you go to their concerts...it's just an awesome time!
And isnt that what his music is all about, diversity? in every shape and form Franti stays true to his roots, while always exploring new sounds and ever expanding his musical horizons. I am overjoyed that he is releasing this new album just as i was when Yellfire! was released and i can say that i can rest assured he will deliver to the most of his ability. All in all i think it will be an amazing work of art and i can't wait to go buy it on september 9th =D
Sure it may differ from many of his earlier works (umm chocolate super highway and stay human anyone?)which in my opinion are two of the greatest albums ever recorded in any genre, by anyone but really the man recording (All rebel rockers) is still the same you would hear on the earlier recordings and everything he has created since his earliest recording sessions with bands such as the beatnigs or disposable heroes, and throughout that time Franti has proven to be a master of many diverse styles
I have watched this man evolve since Disposable Heroes. He questions society, speaks out against injustice and fights for the little guy. He has never stopped spreading his love, just the way he spreads it have changed. And as long as he has lots of bass and big fat beats, he is still the master rapper and master rasta.
he lost that baeutiful mellow soulful taste of chocolate and stay human, a little bit in everyone deserves m..but..i litenened to the whole album, the worst of spearhead i think (musically)..but live is still the best without doubt!!!
You have obviously never seen Tool, Bjork, Tom Waits, War, Dave Matthews, John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, Charles Lloyd, Keller Williams, String Cheese Incident, Primus, Bela Fleck, Jamiraquoi, Al DeMeiola, Paco DeLucia, Stevie Wonder or a plethora of other musical acts live that make Franti look like the Mickey Mouse Club...
He looks blazed.
