cover band that is used on low budget cd's so they don't have to pay the rights for the real band. Always read the fine print (if you can find it) on oldies collections. this is not even a re-record, its just a studio band.
Wait a minute, to make these compilation CDs, the music publishers got many of the original bands (sometimes just the singer or a maracas player) to come back to the studio and re-record the songs. This was to get around the problem of the original record companies not lending them the tracks. For instance the Foundations re-recorder songs like Build me up buttercup, by which time the singer was already losing his voice and sounded nothing like the original recors, so this could be the case here
Don't know who it is, but it's NOT NOT NOT Peter and the Herman's Hermits singing. Check out the real version that's around that is on their Greatest Hits. Yes, the Rays did it first, but there's nothing wrong with covers.
It seems this is one of those albums where they take the songs and even the group's pics but use a cover band. I've got a few in my collection.
@maggiemae70 This is the reformed Hermits in the 1980's after Peter Noone was long gone. Barry Whitwam and Derek Leckenby are the only originals in this reformed band, and poor Lek died from Lymphoma not long after.
the naysayers are correct...that's not, never was, and never will be an original version of any description...el cheapo re-recording by a group which may (or may not) have contained any members of the original Hermits...and, yes, even the 'original' Hermits version wasn't original...'twas a cover of The Rays 1957 doo wop classic.
its not them,,,its some stupid studio group that fakes the original sound they sell at 4 am on tv.
thats not peter signing,,,,
and the font??? isnt that cool
for some weird reason my keyboard flips out
and this type style pops up...spreadout like that
and when i enter it on anything that blocks the number of charaters at a certain limit,,,when i do this weird style it somehow overrides the block and so i can write all day...understand? its gone now...or else it would be here too..wild huh?
This has happened to me many times, I'll buy an oldies cd and play it and realize right away that it's none of the original artists. Look at the bottom of the cd (usually on the back side) and it will always say made in CANADA. Recorded with a bunch of unknowns.
@50s60sAnd70sMusic An American group of four men called The Rays were the very first to record it, and their original version just can not be beat. What an awesome "doo-wop" rock song!!!
Gawd, I adore this record! I heard somewhere that that riff comes from the warm up the guitarist was playing around with. Thanks goodness! It's one of my all time favorites from the original, and I love this too!
It isn't the Herman's Hermits, however, I do like the sound.

Thanx for the tune!
I'm turning 50 in a couple of years. Grew up with Herman's Hermits. These tunes gives me a place to hide from nasty mean old Father Time!

This song is great because that's a young Jimmy Page (studio musician) on guitar
