  • It's judo not bbj

  • This is moroto seoi nage

  • how do you counter this throw?

  • along with the awesome accent, you're also very good at explaining these techniques. thanks!

  • Why would a Judo throw performed by a Judo Olympian get a title like "BJJ takedown"? Sure, it's also available in BJJ, since most (all?) of BJJ comes from Judo, but given there is nothing to identify this as BJJ specifically... give Judo a bit of credit, it won't hurt.

  • I saw your ebook, but I don't have access to a credit card so I can't purchase it. I'm a newbie at judo but you're videos are really interesting and i'm going to try them out later when I go to the dojo. But I have a problem raising the sleeve of my opponent (I have really weak arms) so I can't put my arm underneath their elbow. I play in the -81kg and I was hoping if you could give me some tips to help build strength

  • My favorite throw right there.

  • Nice video, my nigga. Brotha's in da hood do dis shit all wrong. I was at a shoot out tree nites ago and tried dis move after some dumb mutha fuker pulled a ratchet out on my azz.

  • @GalaxyConvoy73 drop tae kwon do, its impractical and a waste, start bjj instead of tkd.

  • dammm i cant do this one i fuckin suck at that one

  • what would be better for the throw, if i rotate a little extra when i drop or get in deeper in between the legs?

  • @dajuev1 it'll be better if u get in between the legs and be sure that you lock them up first before u drop so u wont lose ur grip.

  • Do I need alot of arm strength because i'm 15 and just started weight lifting. I also do Tae kwon do and muay thai.

  • Question...

    I'm pretty short, 5'3.

This is one of my favorite throws. However, when I land, I'm pretty far away from my opponent, so kasagamate is pretty hard to get., they usuallly flip up and try it on me, except I roll too fast onto my stomach. But how would I get tighter in?

  • Wow! Only purple belt? He's amazing.

  • @RECAbeccA i think hes a black belt in judo and a purple belt in bjj

  • Cool Video Mate

  • on the injury... my question too: Matt -- didn't u have to have a knee reconstruction ? Does this affect your drop-seoi ?

  • seoi otoshi

  • like this throwalot!!

  • My Sensei's son likes to stand back up about half way down the drop, just when the uke decides to give in to the throw.

Its evil to watch and a fun ride to take

  • quick question ....

I am a 90kg player and love the drop seoi nage because most people think i am too big and slow when they see me to pull it off and therefore i win a lot of my matches with it and people just shake their heads when i pull it off cause they never saw it coming haha

i am wondering which do you think you get more power from or maybe even easier to throw the drop Ippon or the drop Morote seoi nage?

  • good work drop seoi is a great throw, i think drop morote seoi nage is alot tighter than drop ippon but if u can have a seperate entry for each throw that would be even better

  • Thanks for your input. I will talk with my sensei and get him to work with me on a different entry into morote seoi nage.

Also, if you ever get really bored and need to pass a little time stop by my youtube page and feel free to comment on my fights. Any little bit will help in my journey haha.

I know you are a busy guy so thanks for the reply i really appreciate it.

You got a fan over in Dallas, Tx USA : )

  • @BeyondGrappling hey, one question. everytime i do a drop seoi nage my opponents are always able to counter it by moving to the side. any tips on how to prevent that from happening?

  • Just got back from a judo class and my shoulder is pretty injured. The guy doing this throw on me lifted me like he was going to do the normal one then dropped. We were meant to be just dropping and i'm sure he did it wrong and just drove me straight on my shoulder. If you're doing the drop seonagi there's no lifting right?

  • yeah there should be a lift at the end to finish the technique, mostly when your opponent resits a bit,

  • @RasAlGhul4000 I had the same problem...

hurts like crazy. Just don't do anything with it, especially Uzi-waza, it'll never heal.

  • @RECAbeccA It's gotten a lot better but still plays up sometimes. Is that what you mean? Or that I should give up judo lest my arm falls off next time?!

  • @RasAlGhul4000 NO, of course not. Just be careful of it. Mine is fine now, just takes a few weeks.

  • Awesome move and demonstration, i would like your opinion on judo in general.

My knees are quite bum from muay thai training and i plan to take up some standup grappling at 21.

Can judo overall be practiced reasonably safely starting at that age and with knee problems ?

    Thank you.

  • if you do it out in the street you'll fuck up your knee joint and bones lol i prefer stand up seoi if you wanna do it outside lol

  • id love to learn this throw, but does repetitive dropping cause any harm to the knees in the future?

  • maybe wear some knee pads, also if you do it properly you should not bang your knees too hard
