"i have to step further away from the ball, so i have to keep my feet narrow!?" omg this guy is a noob! the longer the club the wider you feet have to be
@BubbaWatsonfan15 well is is true because you dont have a sand wedge stance while hitting a 3-iron or driver , or have a big wide driver stance using a wedge or putter , so i thing the guy that is a noob to golf is you seeing you dont even know that buddy!
@shyguy1324 Actually, a friend referred this video to me because he thought it was hilarious and I would have to agree. I'm a 2 handicap and I played college golf at a D3 college in Minnesota. Your name is shyguy... go away.
Narrow stance? Hmmm. People shouldn't shy away from long irons just because someone tells them to. I have a 2 iron in my bag, and when I hit it, I think of it as a #2 iron, not as a "hard to hit" iron. Mind over matter. Like when people freak out because of a water hazard. Focus on the target, not the hazard . . .
Yeah, I'll try to remeber to take a narrow stance next time I hit my 2 iron, ya know, since it's a long club. Hah, what a tool-shed. And most pros don't carry 1 or 2 irons because they are easy to slice??? LOL WTF did I just watch?? Nice socks.
u are wrong on so many levels...this guy IS clueless about the game and teaching the game.....this guy could never dream of hitting a 1 iron proficiently w/ that swing of his...besides, who the hell hits a 1 iron anymore????? the king of the 1 iron(Nicklaus) now has 5 hybrids in his bag lol....its an obsolete club...
Don't care what anyone thinks this is the best this guy will ever hit his 1 iron. My h.cap is 10 and mate i would air mail this guys shot using Mizuno MP33 1 Iron. He should not of shown his swing.
Yes and no. If you want to play a full 1 iron shot then yes you want a wide stance...much like with fairway woods and the driver. BUT if you want to play a short 1 iron shot that gives you 5 iron distance TO STAY UNDER THE WIND, THEN its a good idea to narrow your stance AND THUS NATURALLY ABBREVIATE YOUR SWING LENGTH!
Also it helps to choke down on the club with your grip. It seems people misinterpreted his intentions or maybe its just me!
No, it's just you ;) This guy in the video really isn't that knowledgeable or good at golf. The longer the club, the more stability you need. If you want to hit a 5 iron punch shot, then do it. There's no reason to bring out a 1 iron for a 5 iron distance (maybe 4 or 3 iron max). If you choke up, then you lose the natural design and ability for the club to do it's job for maximum impact and feel.
Also, you may be reading too much into what he is saying. This is a beginner guide. And he says that because it is a long club, you therefore have a narrow stance. Which is totally wrong. Longer club equals more centrifugal force, which means you need a more stable base from which it swings around.
Again, this is a beginner guide, and is not talking about special case shots. Only about the gold swing in general.
wow- once again, expert village has let us all down. never mind the fact that this guy is clearly not a pro, how on earth are we supposed to learn from such a video.
Well first off, good advice but i wouldnt recommend "showing" how to hit it. Not a good swing. Second of all the longer the club, the wider the stance ie: driver widest stance, wedge, narrowest stance. So yeah other than that - mediocre.
The swing of a 15-handicapper. I would only recommend the 1-iron if your index is +4 or better, and you would only use it under very rare circumstances. Club of the past.
i have to step "furthest" away from the ball, so im going to keep my feet the "closest" together.. its all crap and he combines it with bad grammar

LOL, I'm sorry, but the longer the club, the more spread out your feet should be. Provides stability.
