I'm no advertising or marketting hot shot but i think its called brand recognition/awareness. Major companies use it all the time like Coke, Pepsi, Tide etc etc. They dont care if people buy the products or not, they just care that people "know" about their product. Like coke for example, no living soul in the world doesnt know about coke. And now google.. no human on earth walks without google's knowledge. Whats more google is now a dictionary term.. its a verb. Don't believe me? Google it!
