    congractulations !

How did you do it ?

    Thanks a lot (:

  • Your work is totally awesome!!! Wow!! What lessons are you taking?

  • but how do you make them. How do you decorate them?

  • what did you use to write mum and dad.

  • Hi,

    Gorgeous cakes you make!

Can i ask what those "sticks" are, that you used for the numbers and hearts on top?

    :)

  • @Jeanmla They are covered wires from a cake decorating supply shop ; )

  • Your cakes are absolutely flawless, stunning pieces of art work!

    You are very very talented!!!!!!

  • @fashonjunkee Thank you soooo much ; )

  • What do you use under the fondant? I love your cakes and the colours you use. i have just started the hobby of cake dec and am designing a cake for the dedication of my granddaughter Amelia Grace.

  • @2008grannyjan Oh your granddaughter is very lucky to have such a special granmother that bakes & decorates cakes for her ; ) I used marzipan under the fondant for the round cake. The heart & star cakes are just covered in fondant. I also use swiss merange buttercream for a lot of my other cakes.

  • hello! its a nice cake (: but can i ask, how do you maintain the fondant cake for a few days so the fondant doesnt melt?

  • @winifreddd Fondant doesnt really melt in it's normal state. The fondant can last longer than the cake. If using with rich mud cake it can last a couple of weeks. If using with rich fruit cake it can last months & it doesn't need to be refridgerated ; )

  • hello! can i ask how to do maintain the fondant cake for a few days so it doesnt melt?

  • Well, I think the colors look great together. Are the stars and hearts little mini cakes?

  • @EA1088 Thank you & yes they are little mini cakes ; )

  • Do you just use a regualr cardboard cake circle and then cover it in fondant or do you use something special?

  • @rubyslippersparkle22 I just use the regular round cake boards & cover it in fondant & then roll an impression on it ; )

  • Do you just use a regular cardboard cake board and then cover it in fondant or do you use something special?

  • That is a great cake!! How did you do your roses? so beatiful!

  • There's a tutorial here on youtube by aine2 'how to make ribbon roses' that show how to do it ; )

  • That is actually beautiful!

  • Thanks ; )

  • omg i love it

    its so cute!

  • Thanks ; )

  • All of your cakes are beautiful! I am inspired! Where did you find the letters to emboss on the cake?

  • Thank you! The letters you can get from the wilton website for around $10. They are called make any message letter press - they are meant to be used on buttercream cakes so you have a guide to pipe over with.

  • very very pretty!

  • Thanks again!

  • beautiful cakes! I thought the board was a cake plate! It's gorgeous

  • Thank you!

  • This is so cuteee! =)

Very creative idea, two cakes in one!

    Zazil.

  • Yes It's convenient that their birthdays are just a few days apart!

  • this cake is flawless! the stars and hearts are perfectly covered!!!

  • Thank you very much - When I was doing it I just kept seeing all it's flaws but after it was done I was really happy I gave it a try!

  • Thanks!

  • Your cakes are adorable. I love your style and colors you use. So pretty.

  • Love the flower toppers and the neatness of the cakes. Great work again!

  • Thank you!

  • The embosed board itself is already wonderful. The star shaped cakes looks flawless with the fondant on it. This cake is perfectly done.

  • I must admit I almost gave up on the star ones - it was the first time I used the star shaped cake mold & when it came to covering with the fondant - I found it quite fiddly & almost gave up cause I thought it was just too wonky!

  • So how did you manage to actually put the fondant without ripping it?

  • Very carefully! I just rolled out some fondant &placed it on the star pressing the top of the star down gently. Then I pressed in the sides of the star but doing the points last. Then I cut a rough outline of the star at the bottom to get rid of the excess fondant. I lift up the cake & fold the extra fondant underneath the cake. I'm shaping all this time but be careful not to pull the fondant too much or it will rip!

  • It's beautiful! :) You did a wonderful job! All the details are meticulous and your minicaketoppers are absolutely gorgeous! I bet your mom and dad loved the cake huh? WOW!!!! :)

  • Thank you Laura! I am taking it to them today! It's also Australia Day today & Chinese/Vietnamese New Year today so we have a lot to celebrate! Happy Aussie Day & New Year to anyone who celebrates these occasions!

  • Wonderful cake!

You should make a tutorial in how to create those flowers, they look amazing!

Your fondant look so smooth, how do you get that finish?

    nivia91

  • Thank you! I learnt how to do the mini roses through aine2 tutorial but just added the green calyx on the end. The other flowers were done with 2 types of 5 petal blossom cutters and the white ones were used with 5 petal blossom veiner. The yellow & white flowers were place in a little plastic paint palete with semi circle dents in it to dry so the flowers can hold their shape (or you can use flower formers but they cost more).

  • You can learn to do some of this through cakejournal, com which is where I got a lot of tutorials for free from the creator Louise. Look at 'how to make a sugar flower' tutorial. She also shows how to make a real looking rose.

I put a layer of rolled out home made marzipan (also called almond paste) on top of the cake & cut the excess off. Then I do the same for the edge with a rectangle piece of almond paste which is wrapped around the edge suck on with a little sugarwater.

  • Opps that should have been 'stuck' on! Anyway this is how i got a smoother finish with this cake. Once the fondant is placed on & trimmed I use a big ball /blob of fondant to rub the top & sides of the cake to smooth out any rough area.

I should make a video! - this is taking too long to explain! Just a bit hard to do with a new baby & a very active toddler running around! Good luck dear!
