hey, I'm 18yrs old and i'm a blood donor...I'd really like to be a platelet donor too. Can I donate blood and platelet or just do one or the other? Also i'm not overly sure how to become a platelet donor, do i ask the nurses at my next appointment for when i give blood?

I donate platelets at the USC Donor Center (GO TROJANS!) lol JK! I have donated platelets over 17 times and it feels awesome doing so. :) I would encourage those who are thinking about donating to go for it! There is nothing to be scared of :)

I just did my first whole blood donation in while and they said I would be perfect for platelet donation. So I will be going asap!!! [ Two weeks :) ]

Hell no! I don't want a machine taking all the platelets out of my blood and then putting it back in to me, fuck that.

@kris1991 Are you stupid? The machine takes blood out then separates the platelets from the blood & then returns the blood back to your arm since they don't need the blood. Grow up & learn your facts. Kk thanks!

wow, can't believe you showed all the blood and needle and all the details like that. Rather revolting in my opinion. Seriously though, the staff at the Ackerman blood center is EXCEPTIONAL. I have loved donating blood and platelets since I first went because the staff is so friendly and professional.
