  • This song meant a lot to me when I was in hospital in 1979. Who knows where I can find the version I listened to then ? It was live, with Sandy and long violin and guitar solos. A timeless gem, this song. Thanks.

  • There is a live piano-only version on A Boxful Of Treasures, but it's only 4 minutes with the "wibbly wop guitar" (as Sandy says) excluded. The only other version with Sandy I have is the studio one on Rising For The Moon, *with* the wibbly wop guitar :-)

  • Vikki Clayton............ she's brilliant!

Great song, a treat to watch, thankyou.

  • didn't expect to like it, but it is really good...not Sandy, but she did a great job. Thanks for posting!

  • It's a bit rough and ready; Jerry D. never gets much rehearsal time, and Maart always has a couple of pints. But that's the joy of Cropredy!

  • She is very good. However, she tries very hard to sing like Sandy, but there are these subtle differences, which always remind you that this is not Sandy.. And remember it was Sandy who wrote this song, and she was only in her mid-20s, when doing so. The had such personality and depth, which you would never expect of someone of that age. As Ashely Hutchings said: "She was head and shoulders above the rest. And she remains so."

  • Excellent. To even tackle a Sandy sung song takes alot of guts and as usual Vikki does a fantastic job! Thanks for posting!

  • my favourite song of all time....the instrumentation in the middle tells the story and there is no need for words...i was there and in my mind one of the most powerful ballads of all time.
