Great video thanks! I have been trying to record audio into Sonar 7 but the latency issue is so bad that I can't hear any effects, or even monitor the vocals. Is there anything I can do about this?
if you are tracking a song, you want to record EVERY track in mono. All stereo is is an exact replica of the left or right input that fed the track in the first place. Stereo is an absolute waste of time and computer resources when working with music or musical instruments. Furthermore it is much more difficult to get a good mix with stereo tracks as your source.
well it depends on how you are recording. When I track out my keyboard. A lot of the sounds are not just duplicated mono sounds. When you are working with stereo effects. the sounds can be different from left to right. If you mic a instruments with 2 mics and running side with a different effect to create a different sound then stereo would be good to. That is the thing about recording. There is no set rules here.
Guide lines that can help you get started but, no one way of doing things. My videos are not a one stop shop for everybody. If it seems that I am saying that then I am sorry but, people are always trying to say u can do this instead of what u said. There are a lot of ways of doing things. This is how I do. Hate it or love it
Not even for a second do you come off in a bad way. I am sorry if I implied that. You're right that there are many different thoughts and approaches to recording; there are however some very definite things that have been learned through the years to be the optimal way for certain tasks. The spirit of your video stands on its own and is best left alone to help those who find it. all the best...
Can you also record without Sonar? I know I've done it singing karaoke versions of original Motown(and non-Motown)in mono! Can you also do it with Sonar?
hmmm if you go into option and audio and you don't se your sound card ins and outs? something is wrong and it could be a lot of things. like wasn't installed right. If you are using a crack version. could be a virus in your computer. So just just those things. you might even want to reinstall your soundcard drivers
oh its nice. NO problems. Unless you need alot of ins and outs its a nice sound card. 24 bit 192 with DSP effects.. Now here is the down fall. 2 mono in puts or u stereo input. 1 stereo output. I don't recommend plugging in and unplugging cord. I did that right much and is got a shorting in the input cords

YOu basicly want to record lets say vocal and use a effect like compression and hear the effect as you record?
maltcus 1 year ago
Yes, even without the effect there is a big delay in the headset when I record. Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate it.

sounds like you need to go to option - audio and you will see mixing latency. push the slider over closer to faster.
