  • Watching this stoned is fuuuuucking ammaaaazing

  • Hugh Hewitt blew it

  • Sam Harris=1 .....Christian retard=0

  • "men are bad/evil and in need of saving"? this is what burns me up. i guess we are all bumbling. primates. in need of discipline. sounds like a way to control people .......

  • Its not the free will theory, that makes men bad, its the fallen nature theory. "No one is righteous, no not one. No one understands. No one seeks for God. All have turned asside, together they have become worthless. No one does good. Not even one. Thier throat is an open grave, they use thier tounges to diceive, the venom of asps is under thier lips."

  • First 8:19 Hewitt complains about Sam Harris writing "anti-semitism is part & parcle to Christianity & has to be."

Then at 9:50 he CONFIRMS what Harris wrote when he defends Christianity by delineating between the God of the Old Testament & the reformation under Jesus.

  • Aspiring marders arent going to make good neighbours? Marders, thats a victim status. Thats people who die for what they beleive... If he knew that, how are they not going to make good neighbours?

  • @desasterz Because the islamic idea of how to be a good martyr tends to be rather... Explosive.

  • @Stairc Right, well he should have said suicide bomber. Because christian Martyrs tend to go to china and get killed and they go to muslim countries and get beheaded.

  • "I have not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it."And everything homosexuallity diserves, went on Jesus. In fact there is even one part of the law where the punishment is that "they will pay.life for life, wound for wound, hand for hand, foot for foot, stripe for stripe."And thats what happened to Jesus.Every sinceer (you call them week bt thats because you're delusional) person who has been hurt, wants to yell at you hurt you and turn their back on you.And thats exactly what happened to Jesus.

  • Harris wins this one hands down. The new rules of conversation and the intolerance for which Harris argues are totally justifiable.

  • its 2012......religion is too archaic and irrelevant now. We must evolve.

  • @AntonTheSpot thats very nice to our ancestors. And btw, someone can seem to understand someone else can tell the difference between a living and a dead person.

  • OMG Hugh Hewitt arguing the otherside is like Stalin arguing freedom. He is such a phoney and a disgrace. How does he have a radio show? Hewitt is awful and I am a Christian

  • False religion is responsible for all the atrocities. Satan decieves people from both ends. He concinves men to deny God and if they wont deny God he convinces them to deny that God is good and that it is better to attempt to appease God from a distance rather that completely entrust ones life to God's indwelling presence and control.

  • @j919or The problem with this is "religion" is not morality, it's dogma funded by weak people, "Satan" and "God" are ideas made into a fairy tale, "Good" is relative to your reality, and "Repentance" is just another word for regret.

I just want you to know if you'd stop funding your church and use that money and time for what is "Good" you can live without the crutch of religion and you'd have no reason to regret anything.

P.S. "False religion" is a double negative.

  • This video is very interesting, but it's clearly edited (whether by PAX when it was shown or by the person who prepared it for posting) and edited poorly. Both speakers are clearly cut off in mid-thought and the argument is therefore choppy.

But, calling Sam's argument a "rhetorical jihad" is a rhetorical flair in itself and essentially cheaply uses a non-sensical sound-bite to attempt to score points rather than reason.

  • Note: Anyone that calls themselves Mr.Devilstreaker has already presented themselves as a deviant. And his rhetoric supports his name. Therefore, anything intelligent will be perverted and anything perverted will be displayed as if it were intelligent.

  • @j919or Ones username on a website where videos are uploaded does not make a person's reason logical or illogical.

  • @countzulu99 True. Notice though that I wrote that his rhetoric supports his name. Im curious as to why you didnt see that. Im guessing its bc you are just one more unrepentant evil thinker.

  • @j919or Haha, I don't go scrolling through pages of comments on youtube. If that's what you do, then I have no problem with it. However, I have a life.

    :)

  • @countzulu99 You have a living death. Not a life.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow harris totally destroys this guy. See how he calls his out on his selective reading of bible? all hugh can do is laugh because he just owned

  • Hugh needs to check his history because Jefferson was NOT a Christian.

  • I wonder if Hughs 'easily followed commands' include allowing slavery or stoning a wife that is not a virgin. That's in the Bible after all.

  • Everything Hewitt says starts out OK, but then degenerate quickly in the usual illogical religion babbles ("because God says so...")... ;-)

  • Hugh - what a tool. But in a way im glad he came on -when creatards get destroyed we are one step closer to a free world without these religious bible toting nutbags running around flying planes into buildings.

  • I wonder what the unedited version of this video was like.

Also, Sam Harris is so incredibly calm while Hugh just lies in front of his face. He just knows that whatever Hugh says he can combat with ease.

  • @Klyaa ""Sam Harris is so incredibly calm ""

Nah SH is the liar. He was caught in overgeneralizations by HUgh. They instead of addressing Hughs criticism he changes the subject with non sequitur. He is a good speaker, yes, but those that think critically, which is obviously not the average college lemming, can see right thru his paperthin agruments that appeal to those that want to eliminate the idea of God from their minds.

Woe to you all!!! Youll have no one else to blame but self.

  • @j919or "Nah SH is the liar. He was caught in overgeneralizations by HUgh. They instead of addressing Hughs criticism he changes the subject."

    Here's a generalization.

Hugh simply said: "...poorly grounded in history, science, theology. He doesn't deal with the evidence that runs counter to his case...will not deal with, or distort the evidence against your case...when you misdiagnose..."

Hugh simply asserts this, yet he gives no specific example of where and how Sam allegedly does this.

  • @Klyaa That host moderator is the creator of a Creationist documentary. It's laughable, but they'll do whatever they can, play dirty if need be, to prevent people from thinking outside of their microcosm. They have too much to lose by coming to the field eye to eye.

  • Woah woah!!!! Mr. Hewitt, in the old testament somewhere in exodus, god says for you to strike dead those that try to expose you to their god. May you strike the first blow. After all, he is a jealous god." Hugh is just another religious fanatic cherry picking the bible to support his claims.

  • Harris is again precisely right

  • SH- the liar

10:05- Jesus said the law of the OT is in effect forever? No. First he spoke to Jews only. Then he added "Until it is fulfilled." He fulfilled it shortly after.

Paul said that homosexuals deserve to die? Never. He says we all deserve death for all sin. He states a list of evil doers that wont inherit heaven and state "dont be like them". Paul never says to harm them.

Prove me wrong all you atheistic demons! SH, your leader, is a liar, and making a bundle off u idiots.

  • @j919or First of all, stop being so angry at everyone. Noone is going to "prove you wrong". Believe what you want to believe but stop forcing your religion on others.

Atheism doesn't have a leader, atheism is not a cult or a religion or a belief. Its a default state of mind that every human being has until he or she is indoctrinated by his parents and/or society.

    You have a nice day.

  • @wowownzu Ok dude, chil pill ingested. Do you have any comments on what I posted? Like do you agree of disagree and how?

  • @j919or another religious nutbag...

  • @MrDevilstreaker ""another religious nutbag...""

    Another atheistic nutbag....

  • @j919or oh dear - did I hurt your feewlings ? awww nice come back by the way... put a lot of thought into that didnt you ? :-)

  • @MrDevilstreaker Nah. It was a little joke to help u understand that ur foolish mockery , "another religious nutbag", is childish playground blather. Grow up.

  • @j919or ***SLOW CLAP*** Childish playground blather... yep another world beater. You really know how to tear a guy down don't you? You probably call people "Stupid" and "Horrible" and "nasty" ... You probably run up to people and hit with little girly punches too. God you're pathetically weak. Grow some balls you pissweak pansy! I bet you've never given your wife or girlfriend an orgasm in your life. WIMP!

  • @MrDevilstreaker ""how to tear a guy down don't you?""

Nah, I just alert you to ur illogical rhetoric and immature behavior in hopes that by slim chance you would be able to see you error and make the necessary adjustment. I suggest tht you read about critical thinking and logical argument before you waste all of our time with your incessant whining.

  • @j919or For goodness sake you sound like an old lady. Run along and crochet yourself a bobble hat you old fart.

  • @MrDevilstreaker "sound like an old lady"

Translation: I have no answer bc you are too intelligent for me since im just a 3rd grade child. Since I am only able to mock, and not think, that is what I will do.

  • @j919or Yes. You just keep telling yourself you're too intelligent. Here is a test for how stupid you are. In fact get ready cause the entire world is going to watch your performance. I hope you're ready oh intelligent one. Here is your challenge. In your next response to me - say something intelligent. You have one shot at this dont fuck it up - One chance to prove it- lets see what you come up with - the world of YOUTUBE is waiting. Don't fold now! Timer is on - NOW ...

  • @j919or OH what a great response! bahahahahahhahahhahahaha couldnt do it! lol thank you for proving my point! LOSER!

  • Hugh Hewitt lost me at "Why is there evil in the world?"

Evil doesn't exists as an entity or force. It is simply a description humans place on a certain type of action. The idea of "sin" as an entity or force is equally illogical. Any reasonable person has the ability to look at these ideas objectively but Hewitt evaluates reality completely subjectively in his narrow dogmatic mindset. That is the epitome of ignorance.

  • I bet Hugh Hewitt's IQ isn't very high.

  • am american complaining about religious extremism? glass houses friend

  • To byteresistor!

Hitler was born as a Catholic because his parents were catholics. As a youth he rejected his faith. He did everything to destroy Christianity, especially Catholic faith. After the war his plan was to destroy christianity completely.

To say that " he was a devout Catholic "is radiculous.

Learn history man! You are in a big error!

  • @franciszek8D

If your god exists and had the power to create Hitler and know of his future and allow it...then whatever moral premise this god had is no longer.

  • Hitler rejected Christianity And became deist. As a deist he believed that God created the universe And after creation does not care anymore. God is like a father who left his children and is not interested in what they are doing.

Do not forget that satan was created as a good angel and later became an enemy of God and all His creation. Judas was chosen as apostle and became apostate.

    What will we become?

We have free will and God gave us a choice! With Him or against Him?

  • @franciszek8D If this god of yours is allknowing, he would've known beforehand that his good angel would fall, yet he decided to create him anyway. Omnipotency and freewill together is an oxymoron.

  • Hewitt's point is pretty well lost when he says Christianity isn't violent and only supports "just war". Christianity creates Zionism, a mindset where the notion of justice in a conflict is distorted for the convenience of syncing up with prophecy. We would not be so entangled in the Middle East right now if not for Christianity.

  • Hugh Hewitt eh? His parents didn't give that one much thought

  • 8 people don't like Sam's smug face.

  • The first person to mention Hitler loses the argument. (Godwins Law)

  • Communists in Russia and China, Hitler in Germany rejected God and all religions. What did they create instead? Horrible TERROR! Over 50 millions got killed in Russia alone. More than 50 millions in China. In Germany along with Jews millions Christians were persecuted and priests murdered. Such was a harvest of unbelief and freedom of all restrictions imposed by religious belief. In comparison to such numbers, few people got killed in the name of all religions taken together for the thousands y

  • @franciszek8D Communists didn't like religion because it was only thing that could compete with then in terms of controlling people. BTW hitler said that jesus inspired him in his fight against jews...

  • @franciszek8D LOL. Hitler rejected god? relearn your history lessons (if there are any) please.

  • @franciszek8D Communists didn't reject god because of belief. They rejected it because they wanted to be god, the one with the ultimate power. You can't have competition when you seek ultimate power. As for Hitler; he was a devout catholic.

"Such was a harvest of unbelief and freedom of all restrictions imposed by religious belief"

IMPOSED!? Well there you have it. Take a moment to think why some people don't like religion.

  • irrASHtional!

  • Seriously.

That blank look on Sam Harris's face creeps me out.

  • @Zeus0Moose Yeah he is trying to maintain his cool in the face of what this idiot is saying.

  • Hugh Hewitt has been allowed to forget the atrocities that "his" religion has wrought when people believed the same texts he reads gave them the authority to do so. To not even attempt to answer for that conceit is both very telling and extremely horrifying. Makes me wish he was talking to Hitchens and not Harris.

  • Game, set, match for Mr. Harris!

  • Mr. Hewitt said "Why are (men) so bad? It's because they are vein, they sin, they are separated from God and they do not choose to conform their lives to the easily followed commands."

Apparently he must be referring to stoning your unruly children to death or murdering anyone who might work on the sabbath. These commands do appear to be easily followed. It makes one wonder why Mr. Hewitt isn't at Home Depot on a sunday with an AK-47.

  • Hugh is a cunt...simple as

  • man, sam is so cool and composed.. when i argue religious people i cant help but smile and laugh during some of their idiotic and irrational points, and definitely when they talk to me like they know something i dont or say im being irrational.. its just so funny when religious people try to sound intelligent and try to use logic, i just cant withhold a giggle..

  • Wonder why the proposition of faith and reason is seen as being at odds? John Paul the 2nd in "Fides et Ratio" covers this issue well, and although there are certain veins of Philosophical thought that see the two as contradictory; the general consensus seems to be that there is no opposition in everyday terms

  • Ah, Lee"Straw-Man"Strobel

    The used car/snake oil-salesman

  • Like a wise man once said,

Wise Man: "I used to believe in God"

    Dumb Bitch: "What happened?"

Wise Man:" I grew little curly hairs"

So christians... stop being so fucking ignorant and grow the fuck up

  • Wow, that Hugh Hewitt is a dishonest douchebag. A Christian and a lawyer. What a combo!

Sam Harris is the man. Calm, cool, collected and highly intellectual. He knows his shit!

  • Holy FUCK, it's Ben Stiller reborn.

  • Even debate but the guy against Sam seams to be going through loops.

  • Sam Harris is Ben Stiller

  • creationists are idiots. period. picking and choosing what they wanna believe is true frm their bible. and in other countries, believing almost everything in their bible and actually acting on that w such violence. it's just nonsense. we all need to get our heads out of our asses and start to THINK!

  • @83redrose83 i dont think you understand religious people or people in general. imagine being taught some thing your whole life and then told its wrong and the guys sitting there calling you names while hes at it. first off you have shut the person down when you attacked him and then expect to convince him that what he knows is wrong. i think you need to THINK on that. example- if i said the big bang was wrong and you a retard for believing it would that convince you? no, i would be a prick.

  • @muaythaijunky excuse me but I was raised a Christian and was very "religious" until age 21 then I grew up and started to think for myself and not just what my parents told me to believe. And what he does "know" IS wrong. There is no "man" in the sky and the bible is just foolish nonsense. I can say anything I want, it's youtube and freedom of speech. And I never claimed the big bang happened, I'm just pretty sure that one man didn't created EVERYTHING and EVERY living species in 6 fucking days!

  • @83redrose83 i was also raised by fundies. i was 13 when i challenged the idea asked questions and then made my decision. i never said i was silencing you or you cant. iv made a point you simply cannot refute. again i slapped EXAMPLE to the big bang statement and never said you believe it, it was an example.im sure a man didnt make every thing in 6 days also. the point is insulting does not convince people and i have said my evidence based on psychology.

  • @muaythaijunky I was also raised to believe in Santa, doesn't mean it's true...

  • @83redrose83 sir, you have completely missed the point. the point being you are attacking some one and expect results. religious or atheist, once you start attacking rather then debating you have just shut that person down to exchange of ideas and beliefs. this is simple psychology and shows how your tactics are completely ineffective and crude. you also mistook me for a christian and pulled the old Santa out of the hat. its also a red herring to the issue. do you see my point over all?

  • @muaythaijunky excuse me, but, I'm a 27 yr old female....not sir!

  • @83redrose83 ok. miss. i cant see you thru your monitor. either way do you see the point?

  • @83redrose83 also some one is not stupid for believing in some thing or some thing different. lacking some form of knowledge does not make some one an idiot either. can you do plumbing? electrical? build a house? can you sew clothing? if not its ok. it does not mean your not intelligent in any way shape or form. imagine how many religious people can do this stuff. they are not dumb either. they merely have different views and they are not dumb for that.

  • @muaythaijunky I don't think someone is stupid because they have different views, I think they are stupid when they believe in something that is nonsense and untrue. We have the tools to find out the truth and people are stupid for not finding that truth. And your example is really STUPID!

  • @83redrose83 theres many things we may probably believe that are not true. you probably have some as well and may not know it yet. are you stupid for that? chances are if you knew it wasnt true you then wouldn't believe it. again the example is based on your reasoning and actions i find it stupid as well. insulting some one because they believe different is ignorance and only makes you out as an ass hole in the end. does the insults help make you see it my way? probably not. point proven.

  • @83redrose83 you still have not in any way shape or form disproved what i have said. you are merely perverting the point and can only claim things are stupid at this point. you are now playing the role of the "christian" you insult. again you believe your insults are some how convincing. im trying to convince you other wise. you cling to the belief you are some how better then others and superior. that you must insult them and then they will see things as you do. how does that work?

  • religion is a byproduct of fear, for much of human history it may have been a necessary evil, but why was it more evil than necessary.isnt killing people in the name of a god a pretty good definition of insanity:: arthur c.clark

  • Justified war haaaaaahaaaaahaaaahahahahaha!!!!

  • bright guy...

  • is it just me, or does it look and seem like strobel has some minor down syndrome?

  • I seriously doubt Hugh Hewitt actually read Sam's book. He sounds like a typical christian. If he says something out loud that sounds convincing, then in MUST be true. Even if he doesnt actually believe it to be true. This is how religion works.

How can anyone really believe that the creator of the universe (in between contemplating supernovas and the gravitational constant) is preoccupied with genocide, the degradation of women, or sending billions of innocent men, women, and children to hell?

  • Ignorance, as simple as that. People are capable of believing such things by ignoring. People are able to believe so because they've never thought for themselves. And, especially, because they've been brought up to believe so by which it's easier to have a naive attitude towards their faith, and not knowing the basis of their belief it's relatively easy to hold the "bright side" of it on a pole

  • @northoforacle he read it but not without the objectivity that is required to understand what Harris is saying. Reading Harris as a fundamentalist is like studying evolution as a creationist. Those people are simply too biased at that point to understand such a different perspective.

  • Hugh Hewitt is a tool

  • Wait, christianity doesn't condone violence? What about all of those people burning for eternity. Sounds pretty violent and cruel to me.

  • Does anybody else think he looks like Ben Stiller?

  • @petenstace Take ben stiller, and seth green and mix them together. Then supercharge the brain, and you've got sam harris.

  • That Christian can only be described with a German word I read on the internet - Backpfeifengesicht. SERIOUSLY.

  • The conservative wasn't so bad. He was relatively tolerant and not as annoying as others you often see doing to Jesus TV circuit.

Still, the Bible is a literary work of huge cultural value and little moral or spiritual value. We should move on. If there is a God, His ways are so mysterious that I'd hate to ever be in contact with him. Just look at Africa these days.

  • Ayn Rand would have eviscerated this huckster when he started insinuating that Communist Russia and Nazi Germany were results of an ethic based on reality and rational consciousness

  • @randoker ayn rand sucks dude. but yeah both those regimes were deeply religious

  • @R2rGangstaFC - Having experienced the horror of Communist Russia first hand, Ayn Rand had a lot to say about it's history and causes. The policies of Communist Russia were driven by a materialistic philosophy which holds an unrealistic view of reality which does not account for the existence and character of man's consciousness. Man is reduced to a cog in the machinery of the state, and his life, destiny, and happiness are at the whim of its leaders.

  • @randoker you are really ignorant of the ideology that russia was based on around that time. they wanted to do vica versa, put man first, whereas capitalism treats a man just like a mechanism in the machines to produce surplus value for the owner. I'm russian myself lol. plus, rand herself didnt really suffer THAT much. her father's property was expropriated 2-3 times. thats it

  • @R2rGangstaFC - I doubt that there is anything that I could say to you to convince you that communism is a failure. Look to history.

  • i think if sam was any calmer he would be dead

  • @majorblood87 It's all that meditation bro.

  • good point in raising that the moderates are not the solution but one of the problems.

A Moderate stance in society will but only water down the majority sentiment or reaction to issues regarding faith and religion, but it will none the less produce a number of fanatics. And it takes only on, to a few fanatics to cause chaos unimaginable.

If they were out of the way however, fundamentalist views, which is in fact the core of any subject, can be brought out to be disputed upon to gather clarity

  • I don't know why Sam skirts the issue when Hugh keeps referring to Christianity as this peaceful lovey dovey religion. Look up a little think called the inquisition that lasted for 700 years and see what happens when Christianity is given unchecked power. Not to mention just try reading the bible and see how "peaceful" it is. The ignorance/denial of modern Christians about their own religions history and their holy book is ridiculous.

  • I love how calm and collected Harris is, smart guy.

  • So long as a large protion of humanity believes in the ancient folklore and morality of illiterate desert-dwelling goatherders, we are in danger, particularly while theists with end-days agendas have access to nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.

Their arrogance and pretences at honor and moral supremacy need to be continually challenged and mocked, until the world is made safe from these under-matured, misguided celestial Santa believers. They need to grow the fuck up.

  • btw, what kind of fucked up parents name their kid 'Hugh Hewitt' anyway? this asshole is a fucking fundamentalist Xtain retard

  • delusional religious nutjobs of ANY 'faith' are responsible for ALL the hatred and mass murder on this planet...buncha goddam lunatics

  • btw theres a bit missing at the end there, where Hewitt resorts to an ad hominem for his inability to refute Sam's logic lol.

  • This Mr. Hewitt speaks so arrogantly. He and his "religion" have an answer for EVERYTHING... that alone is illustrative to his argument's AKA his religion's weakness.... not its' strength.

  • the bible talks of unicorns in job, lol gotta call bullshit there

  • @MGsven

The Bible also mentions giants, witches, wizards, necromancers, dragons, satyrs, cockatrices, zombies, and Leviathan numerous times. Of course, in the newest translations, it's just "people familiar with spirits, oxen, large birds, and water serpents." Soon, the Bible will be a completely different book than its Hebrew counterpart, and yet people will still refer to it as the unchanging, infallible word of God.

  • @TenTonNuke yeah, just so u know, there was light before any sun, there were bird b4 land animals, its not even such a good story, i prefer lotr :P

  • it is pretty arrogant/childish, to assume and/or label people that dont accept fantasy as reality...this is the problem...reality will start kicking in with that "oh shit!!" factor,"we been fucked over! by idiots that didnt really care about us just themselves and their cowardice about death" is what it all comes down to. Religious people are closet Cowards

  • @MadMAn12gauge You are such a little child. I bet you feel all macho for cussing and talking trash. You are the one who didn't really address the issue, but whatever. Grow up dude.

  • @xchampx and i can use "cussing" all i want...nothing taboo about it, it is straight foreward, matter of a fact i find your way of getting accross more offensive, because you dont have the courtesy to be straight foreward with your intent...u act all Pompous and high and mighty like your shit dont stink....go fuck yourself and by the way i burned 2 bibles today, felt good getting rid of trash like that, people need to do that more often

  • i have yet heard any person of faith validate any of the claims..."god said" ...well no proof of that in the end it still comes full circle to "he said, she said" and not "god said"...i heard many claims where people said "god told me to kill him/her" but another is told by god "dont kill him or her" what makes it valid? ...or didnt tell them anything at all..same goes with all the prophets moses, jesus, abraham etc....god did not speak to anyone, its just personal manefesto of lunatics

  • Sam Harris ripped Matthew 5 out of context. John 1:17 says "The law came through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." Jesus in Matthew 5 like Sam took out of context says "nothing shall be taken out of the law UNTIL all has been FULFILLED" what is"until all has been fulfilled" mean? It means his death on the cross. I like how the person in the video stopped the video at the worst part.

  • @xchampx you can take the bible out of context, its not baced on anything set in stone...or repeatable tests to validate it...in the end you just get a bunch of overhyped retards that screwed humanity for thousands of years, slowing our intellectual potentials with their magical faith non-sense

  • @MadMAn12gauge I see we got a mad atheist man over here. What does it matter to you anyway? You believe we literally came out of nothing and by nothing to come into our existence. This makes life literally meaningless. I can kill you and that doesn't matter. I can rape somebody and that won't make a bit of a difference. So, in this case in your worldview, why would this matter? Additionally, i can make the same circular argument and atheists don't value life. "Look at China and Stalin! "

  • @xchampx your mistake is prejudice...it should be obvious that natural selection is the true way of life since you naturally prejudge with your first view without looking for more substance...thats normal...in example is you automatically see my Screen name and think you know it all...like you do with everything else in your shallow point of view...which by the way is not exactly a bad thing considering the vast majority of primates that ever lived do that by a 99% + scale

  • @MadMAn12gauge natural selection doesnt show everything. It doesn't show HOW life began, just how it has evolved and adapted over time. There are still millions of things science cannot explain. Science has become the God of atheism. You guys may deny it but that is your way of life.

  • @xchampx we dont pretend to know things that we do not know....yeah science doesnt know everything yet...doesnt mean fill in the blanks with bullshit like you guys try to do just to pretend you are smart, admit that theism is just a hypothesis...theism is NOT solid, thus labeling people with a made up roleplaying tag called atheism? just because we arnt as redicules. we dont have a belief system, it is subject to change constantly, proactive, and not thousands of years in stasis like religion

  • @xchampx and no..."comming from nothing" ?!?! i have no idea where you would assume...well actually i take it back...you are religious, you guys love to fill in the blanks with bullshit that you dont know and cant know...so i see how you can instinctivly automatically assume others that dont follow along the trendy nature of just accepting a bullshit answer as a fact...when every human knows instinctivly its all "wishfull thinking" otherwise you wouldnt have to constantly convince yourselves

  • @xchampx

Really? What Matthew 5 actually says is: "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

When did "Heaven and Earth pass away" ? Did I miss that? Sounds like he's talking about the end times, not just the crucifixion.

  • Mother Teresa was pure evil. Why bring her up to defend Christianity?

  • Whenever I see Sam Harris I get the strange feeling he's from the future come back to teach us some good shit.

  • Hewitt claims that Harris has somehow "distorted the evidence that is counter to his case". And then he goes on to list exactly zero instances of this.

  • One of the last points, that moderate Christians are the problem is important. Most moderate Christians would watch people like the westboro baptist church followers and accurately call them monsters, yet they are only following the bible to the letter. Moderate Christians fail to recognize that they are better people because they have collectively thrown out most of the bibles bullshit and by picking and choosing out of those last remaining scriptures they are keeping the fanatics relevant.

  • @theparadox89 Yes, I always hear from christians that the WBC are not "true christians". And I immediately tell them that, according to the bible, they are some of the truest christians around Probably the truest christians in America, if you believe that following the bible makes you a true christian.

  • Hugh apparently never read the old testament yet.

If you can find a single chapter in the old testament without cruelty towards at least one social group, I will rip my own head off with my hands. Too bad that will never happen.

  • @topturkey2 That is an exaggeration of course....:-)

  • What the fuck, I'm starting to really hate these sort of interviews, they're such an embarassment. The christian will FUCKING NEVER ANSWER DIRECTLY, IF AT ALL.

  • Living god? lol We are all gods in the terms of life.

  • Hitler-ism ? xD

  • lol @ "theory of theology"

  • How can people take Hugh Hewitt seriously?

  • @MrSyrett You are so full of yourself&biased, when did you read me having a problem with science?

Pure science is great, the problem is that when dealing with evolution many scientists just take the party line without even checking the facts. Take mmgw, many scientists, the media & the un push it as if its a fact. When you do a bit of checking you realise that many scientists on the uns IPCC panel left in disgust due to the un already having writen their conclusion before the info was checked.

  • "They push it as fact" - no, they push it as the best explanation Which is totally supported by all the evidence. The reasons you reject it are not scientific, but out of desperation to defend your religion - your comfort blanket. "Take the party line"????? Jesus. You're clueless. Science is a meritocracy. It doesn't have a party line. Your arguments, like all most denialists, are based in ignorance. Pure science is great? Again, you mean the science that doesn't comflict with your beliefs.

  • Sorry. I just can't get over the "pure science is great". The more I think about it, the more retarded it sounds. Do you think DNA sequencing is "pure science"? What about Paleontology? What about Zoology? etc? Don't tell me, all these scientists who dedicate their life to expanding the knowledge and understanding of mankind are just "going with the flow". Why? Not explained. Must be a conspiracy against religion. For what purpose? Who knows?

I see you're also a conspiracy nut. What a suprise

  • oh snap, sam told him whats up at the end son!

  • @jamesflames75 May God bless you, you seem to be getting upset.

Me proving the fathers of the branches of science were Christians is similar to you asking me to prove that Hitchens & Dawkins are atheists.

Athiests need to forget following the evolutionary herd and stick to pure science.

I don't have enough faith to be an atheist.

To believe the whole universe came into being from nothing by accident.

  • @Ivor7777777 "I don't have enough faith to be an atheist".

the non logic in that statement made me dizzy

  • @jamesflames75 You atheists are always waffling about Christianity being unscientific and you never knew or conveiniantly fogot that the fathers of science were Christian.

    I feel your pain:)

  • @jamesflames75 Most branches of modern science were indeed founded & led by creationists.

Physics: Newton, Faraday, Maxwell, Kelvin & Joul.

    Chemistry: Boyle, Dalton & Ramsey.

Biology: Ray, Linnaeus, Mendel, Pasteur, Virchow & Agassiz.

Geology: Steno, Woodward, Brewster, Buckland & Curvier.

Astronomy: Corpernicus, Galileo, Kelper, Herschel & Maunder.

    Mathmatics: Pascal, Leibniz & Euler.

  • @Ivor7777777 - Can you tell me how many of those people you listed lived in pre-darwinian times? How exactly can a person subscribe to a non-existent theory that opposes creationism? Another great creationist fallacious argument. All those people were not creationists as we understand the word today. Many were also Deists. Evolution actually has evidence. The argument that a few thousand years ago "God" made the first two people out of a rib and clay has zero. Its laughable

  • @MrSyrett Evolution has evidence oh you mean all those missing, links they for some reason can't find.

Or are you talking about all the things evolutionists say take millions or billions of years to create, but as Mt St Helens eruptions proved to only take minutes or at the most a few days to create.

Talking about ribs, did you know that the rib is the only bone that will actually grow back, I wonder why that is:)?

  • "I wonder why that is"? Just embarrassing. Since you obviously don't know, ill tell you. All bones regenerate to some extent. The rib will regenerate after a PARTIAL resection (as in thoracic surgery). Please priovide evidence of a WHOLE rib being resected and then regrowing - you won't . Regeneration is due membrane surrounding the rib - not the rib itself. Oh, and all simian primates have the same membrane. So I guess that's conclusive "evidence" that "god" took the rib of an ape. Moron.

  • "All those missing links they can't find". Keep lying for Jesus idiot. The truth is, no mater how much you claim to the contrary, and no matter how much you bury your head in the ignorance of Answers in Genesis - dozens of skull shave been found (exactly where science predicted they would be in Africa) of hominid species that ARE our ancestors. All your arguments to the contrary are ones from a complete ignorance of scientific fields that take years of study to understand fully.

  • @Ivor7777777

There's nothing surprising if a lot of scientists until the mid 19th Century were Christians. The people you listed lived before Darwin or modern discoveries about the age of the Earth etc. so religious explanations were largely unquestioned. Also in those days it was social and professional suicide not to be Christian - for example, Shelley, in the 19th Century, was thrown out of university for writing an atheist pamphlet and teachers at Oxford and Cambridge had to be religious.

  • As science has followed its logical course and has found good explanations for more and more things for which the answer used to be "God did it", and being a skeptic about religion has become less taboo, more scientists have become atheist - apparently 93% of the National Academy of Sciences, a body for elite US scientists, are atheist.
