@Godlovesallpeople Well, it's because it was like Ocean's 11 Men. It was originally about Paratroopers from WWII knocking over the top casinos of Vegas. This one is a cheap knockoff, and, I still wonder about the ones 12 and 13. That would mean that they added men to the team, and robbed the casinos twice more.

Oh, and at the end of the original with Sinatra, Dean Martin and others, they didn't get the dough. It was cremated with the body of one of the men in the operation.

I love this cool film and this scene. The director use that same cinematic Depth of Field technique like in Citizen Kane where the shot shows the two actors CU & the third actor far along the Z axis away representing his importance relative to in this case Pitt and Clooney. Then as he walks toward the camera along that Y Axis his relevance to Pitt & Clooney and the heist becomes increases & now standing with both actors he has stepped up to the plate & become the third member of the team...

They could have dropped the name at the beginning, but knowing him, knew that leaving that information would cause him to be more interested once it was revealed.

Clooney & Pitt were conning him with an offer he could not refuse like Cage to Duvall in Gone in 60, like J. Sturgess to Spacey in 21. One more big score stealing cars or cracking Vegas. Its the light at the end of tunnel that might be an on coming train, its the rush heroin in your vain like Travolta in Pulp. Its one more big Adventure to beat the odd and make it rain man.
