How far the American woman (alone) of today has fallen in comparison to what we see here. Today's American woman is beyond pathetic. I was born a good fifty plus years too late.
@seanoreillyy - we dont forget that women today, dont have the same class as these women of yesterdyear, My mother was the same as thes efilms, classy, sophisticated and beautiful in mind, body and spirit, , not even modern celebrities painted up or not have this class....:-)
Liked Jane Russell as a thirteen year old in 1960, less so Victor Mature or Manure as my sad old dad used to refer to him as. Yeah those were kinder gentler times me thinks folks.
Wow, Jane sings and looks great, Hoagy sings, and Victor the Great looks great and gets Jane. And all in black and white. The AFI should give this clip an award for something in moviedom.
Jane Russell did her own singing and took it very seriously during her all-too-brief career. She teamed up with Rhonda Fleming, Connie Haines, and Beryl Davis touring nighclubs and supper clubs with a repertoire of spiritual songs in the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s. Jane's jazz cds still sell at stores everywhere. Quite a talent.
Yes burnt62, that is indeed Jane Russell singing...she was quite a good singer. She sang in the majority of the films she made and made many records. A very underappreciated talent of her time!
this is one of my all time favourite you tube clips , hardly a day goes by with out watching it , it is supreme artistry on both hoagy and janes part that cannot be denied, a realy fantastic song, great performance by two all time greats of twentieth century culture .
Agh I can't get enough of this song it is soo relevant no matter what the decade

Blooming marvellous. I also find it intriguing that Ian Fleming said that he always thought that Bond had the looks of Hoagy Carmichael.

@equinoxranch I agree with you fully. However there seems to be an absence of gentlemen too. It is sad.

Jane Russell was lovely, a real woman. Sadly a large proportion of todays stars haven,t even got a small sprinkling of the the magic she had.

Jane Russell looks beautiful and also sings beautifully. But I'll still prefer to listen to The Shadows guitar instrumental of this song.

Jane Russell is trying so hard to be Mae West. Victor Mature is trying so hard to be Erroll Flynn.
Hoagy Carmichael seems happy to be Hoagy Carmichael.

My wife Donna Lynn Carmichael Lessmiller is Hoagy's niece.
I feel special... :-)

Hoagy's niece Donna should be proud. I think he was so unique. This video seems so modern.
I think that Stardust was one of the most wonderful songs ever written. My love to her and his family.

burnt62, I believe that Jane is really singing. She sang in the musical "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" where she co-starred with Marilyn Monroe.

well actually to be all correct jane was the star of the actual movie but marilyn wanted first billing because she was the costar

A charming performance by both Jane Russell and the great Hoagy Carmichael.

Did she sing this or is she miming ??? "If" it is her voice it is a great shame she is only remembered as a big boobed bombshell.
