I saw the Feelies at Maxwell's for the first time in '86 when on vacation from the UK. I was blown away by them and it spoiled me for ever. I've seen Joy Division perform with the Buzzcocks but there is nothing quite like the Feelies. Only a few people in Britain had heard of them. Now they're back together. Wake Ooloo were great, Glenn's solo album is beautiful. Life is good. There's nothing quite like the Feelies.
@manuntd2009 It's not silence. Here's the explanation.
Glenn: Like at the beginning of “Moscow Nights”. We played these different effects, and we moved them with our hands. This wind, this chilly sound, but with the analog hiss it sort of got washed out.
@hugo297 ithats odd, i hear the high frequency moans and screams of your mom when i'm banging her, should be able to hear these as well...i'll look into it though, thanks.
shit i never heard of this great band! why?? they should be listed along joy division & co.. sounds like 60's guitar pop mixed with with 80' post punk, great stuff!
this is amazing, i went down the local cd store to get the album and they no longer distribute it (so often the case with music i like) i can't believe some of the shit artists that have albums stocked and when it comes to real good music you have to look on ebay and hope
Indeed! Hoboken's finest were one the greatest bands of the 80s! After all these years this still sounds so fresh and always reminds me of the opening scene in Susan Seidelmans film the Smithereens...one of the best timecapsules to late 70s early 80s Lower Manhattan.
Well it seemed like an eternity...

On of the most disregarded albums ever, even if allmusic gives 5 stars to it.
I admit: I love that Feeelies debut album! Raised Eyebrows (who knows this...?) ist 0ne of the best songs I know - what a crazy rhythm it has....

I think the chemistry clicked when they got Brenda and Stan and Dave.
Everything before that was just great songwriting and music recording.
They were in a sense pioneers of their own future, But with out the female eliment.
