Marconi was actually a patent pirate. He virtually copied U.S. Patent # 465,971 applied for in 1885 and issued o December 29, 1891. The inventor who applied for and received the patent? The real creator of wireless communications is...THOMAS EDISON. He was so busy working with George Eastman on developing motion pictures and the associated movie film, he didn't follow through...but compare Edison's work with Marconi's from 5 years later and you'll see who the real inventor was.
@BobWXXI " Before Marconi invented the Radio none thought he was able of doing it, while after it turned out that everyone had already invented it". By Charles Steinmetz, maybe the gratest electrical engineer of that age. Good to know that Edison is a new entry in the list.......
@cmangy Yes, "Love Her By The Radio" is wonderful! I wonder if you or anyone else here might have a digital file thereof that you might send my way? All the best! —Framboise
Commercial radio in the UK is crap nowadays;there are too many stations run by big media groups who are merely interested in profits and shareholders and advertising revenues, not listeners.
The opening picture was for a Crosley Radio. This is taken from a PBS special on Radio, I have the whole tape of the program. You've shown that radio was truly a wonder unappreciated today with instant news on computer and satellite....

Marconi sent signal across Atlantic ocean using Tesla's patents.
US Supreme Court upheld Tesla's patent number U.S. Patent 645,576 in effect recognizing him as the inventor of radio NOT Marconi.
