Yes..I edited a video about Military Sym.(one & two movement) by Haydn. Conducted by Herman SCHERCHEN. Orchestra:Vienna Symphony Orch. in the year of 1950. You gays know ,there was no sterio those years.You will remember If you old enough like me..Records were black ,heavy, mono and 78 rpm. I like it i hope you too. Cheers Tekin
Phantastic conductor. It feels as the orchestra is a bit too hectic or energetic, coming before his conducting beats by a fraction. Maybe he wants it a bit more deliberate, elegant, less on the virtuoso side. It was my impression. Phantastic though.
@clarinete09 I coulde be wrong but I believe his name is Laszlo Kuti (from Hungary), who is a graduate of the Berlin Philharmonic Academy's 2008-2009 season and who is now one of the principal clarinetists of the Munich Philharmonic.
hello! this was a beautiful performance. out of curiosity, does bassoonist Markus Weidmann play tenor saxophone? I thought I saw someone that resembles him playing the tenor sax solo in Bolero.

Who is the Santa Claus on 1st flute? He's the other 1st flute whenever Pahud isn't around. He has a far lustrous flute tone than Pahud

@chatbud He is Andreas Blau, principal flute of the Berliner Philharmoniker for over 40 years!

Why great soloist assume conducting's an easy work only because they're good mucsicians? I can't stand it.

Great pianists aren't automatically great conductors. It doesn't hurt to try though!

@Qtmas
Most often, this orchestra's bass clarinetist plays the saxophone parts. But hey, Bolero features two, so it's possible.

Good to see Schiff flying the flag of humour in music.
