• Let me just add to these comments that this concept really works, i have placed an aquarium heater in it ( kind of protruding at a corner so i could adjust it ) and i grew a sunflower seed in the pebbles but the plant did not survive the transplant to the ground :( also i changed the design a bit, i did not have the board floating on the water it was simply placed on top of the aquarium and taped around but the design presented here works very well.

  • Awesome video on homemade hydroponics system! For a novice grower, it is important to start with a homemade system that he can easily maintain and adjust whenever necessary. Using homemade systems can also help beginners to become familiar on the basics of hydroponics growing, through that he can easily understand the technical details of highly-advanced hydroponics systems.

  • CHECK THIS hydroponicsworld.eu/

  • Thanks for posting this helpful video. What's amazing about this is that anyone can actually build a hydroponics garden under $50! That's really awesome because people often have this impression that it is very expensive to set up a hydroponics garden...The instructions were also very clear so building it is not as difficult as it seems. Thanks again :)

  • haha this guys homemade hydro setup is one of the worst. i could have easily made a ten times better ebb and flow with some storage containers. And gravel and potted plants? really? I want to know how many plants lived.

  • congrats!!!

low cost and big productivity...would you run for president next year? :)

  • this works to grow weed?????

  • hi great vid

how much fertilizer we have to put in the water and how often?

  • Заебись=))

    В России так же))))))

  • Terrible video, bad setup anyway.

  • I don't like it... the whole fish tank thing is a no-no to me.. sounds like a childs projoect

  • i figured that those big plastic space savers from walmart or other places would work better. that and glass is just too heavy and risky

  • How about a fancy hydroponic system?

  • foil does nothing but make problems.. dont use foil.

  • Music was at least not distracting and calm and allowed me to concentrate on the project. I liked the whole thing. Thank you.

  • Yeah i agree with gizze........good video but, shite music :D what did he wrap the roots of the plants with before mixing with the pebbles?

  • You could stay well within budget if you would have used a rubbermade type of tub and you would have a lid. Use foil or even just duct tape to block out the lights. There is no need to glue the tube and air stone as that just creates places that you can not clean algae if it grows.

  • thats what i do too. i just use a rubbermaid container, grow baskets, and get a drill with a hole cutting bit, for the holes. easy.

  • I agree completely with you.. a bubbler using a rubbermaid is a better system...

  • That's cool, but why do you have "nft" in your tags when this isn't nft?

  • I think aeroponics is best. It uses no rockwool or pebbles or any medium. How do you prevent clogging of misters in aeroponics totally. I don't tolerate failure or mistakes. When designing a aeroponic system should the tank always be seperate to the growing area?

  • I agree and the Aerogarden is the cheapest and easiest product for aeroponics. Building your own from scratch is not as easy as it looks and doesn't look nearly as nice.

  • actually most of it on the east coast comes from the ohio/west virgina valley next time do some research numb nuts

  • or from mexico ass wipe damn mother fuckers are stupid

  • and ppl think that EYE believe in conspiracy theories. lol.

  • He should have grown weed.

  • he should have used a darkgreen rubbermade tote bubblewand for hydro not cheap airstones for aquariums but ph aquarium balance solution some picnic cups dark color with white inside to obstruct light these are reasons for dark colors on cups and tote reservoir air tubing and pump put pumps higher than water the cheap clamp shop lights with compact flourescent he can use piss and shit for nutrient nahhh

  • you didn't add any solutions, and reason why or just a skipped step?

  • probably now because of your strict laws.. but americans are considered to be some of the worst hemp growers in the world of hemp.. no offence blame your laws for making you hide it so much :)

  • Sorry you had a bad experience noir....If you get your environment right you can grow up to 5 times faster than soil with faster growth and bigger yields. Granted there is alot of fancy marketing but you can make your own set up and have headaches or get something with proven results and enjoy. BTW have you guys seen the used selection @ bihydro*com they are the best I have dealt with

  • crap just get seeds get a window box and grow typical american sell sell sell bull shit

  • Watch the Grow Dutch video, they learned how to grow from Americans.

  • Nice one. Its like fish aquarium with all those gadgets; but instead of fish, plants are growing in the aquarium.

  • I am not sure what the fascination with hydroponics is. It might be fun for nerding out but it isn't natural or healthy...Sure you can eat those herbs no problem but when you flush the liquid from the tank for salt removal you will be pouring it down the toilet. More waste and toxic mess. Just think about it this way. If you poor the "flush" liquid onto your garden, whatever plant you put it on will die. How healthy is that? Sorry Hydroponics is a pet peeve of mine...such a waste...

  • neat stuff. our new vblog is looking for 2 minute videos on ways like this to make world/community a better place. it's called Ampolo. got anything?

  • cud u not have used a vid camera to made this vid, i mean slideshow

  • I believe that the rubbermaid idea is a bit better, but I liked the video

  • don't you have to add nutrients to the water too?

  • All that work and retarded music for nothing. Just buy a rubbermaid container for $15 from Walmart. That's less than half what you paid for the aquarium. Not to mention all that paper and tape. No wonder you went overbudget ;)

  • lame video ...

  • mmmmmmm........DRO,

    tasty

  • To slow, mothafucker

  • your inbred so what>? that makes you infamous

  • oh and please correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt the roots mould by being wet all the time?

  • no, they would not...

  • Ok thanks. Thats a good method, might want to try a mix of perlite and vermiculite instead of the gravel. just dont get any soil in the per/ver mix or itll become infected.

  • this is exactly like another video on youtube, posted BEFORE this one...

  • nice little system. one suggestion though- you could substitute plastic "rubbermaid" containers for the glass aquarium and save some money. i like the simplicity of this unit, i have designed many small hydroponic units for growing herbs/vegetables but most of them had a lot more potential for somethign to go wrong. as long as you keep the water level and nutrients up i don't see anyhting that could fail on that system. good job.

  • very well done! what is the music? enjoyed it as music and it also supported the video nicely

  • Great hydroponic concept and EXCELLENT demonstration / education video! Thanks.

  • Hi, rreecea! Thanks for the lovely comment, glad you liked the video. Stop by my website, I'm in the process of posting a load of Hydroponic articles.

    Cheers,

    Steve

  • I agree! Nicely done.

  • Pretty decent demo but you should also explain that if you plan on those plants actually doing something besides trying to stay green, you really need to add nutrients to the water.

I agree with Ryan's comment about using a Rubbermaid container, it's much cheaper than a glass aquarium. Also, the Rubbermaid container won't dump 10 gallons of nutrients on the floor when someone mistakenly hits the side :)

    Keep it up!
