  • thank you Dede...

  • Powerful Video!

  • Very educational and inspiring! Thank you so much for posting this, ma'am. Please continue doing what you're doing. I have been apart of YT for about a year now, and I have not heard or seen any video quite so powerful and elaborate.

  • sick and it saddens me how easily we for get dam IT AND WE CONTINUE TO TAKE OUR CLOTHES ON THE ONLY ONE I KNOW WHO COULD TELL THE BLACK WOMEN TO PUT HER CLOTHES ON IS THE HON MIN LOUIS FARRAKHAN'

  • @Sharayai well said

  • after watching this, I get so upset and just dissapointed especially amongst my fellow black women and men. Men are so quick to praise a hip hop model, and video vixen or the Twerk team but is not so quick to praise an intelligent woman. This woman Sara was being exploited as a black woman because of her figure and treated like an animal but you have women out there freely shaking their asses on camera cause they think it's ok to smh. My black people has lost our roots and our true culture.

  • Love it.. u should have more views..smh

  • Open your minds and think about what we're doing to each other as black people and think about the words that we're saying to each other. My father told me these things but for those who's didn't, learn for yourself and teach others. Knowledge is power.

  • @quietstorm thank you! My boyfriend asked me to check it out and this is something I will never forget. For everyone else, open your mindsts

  • DO YOU SEE WHAT KIND OF NATURE THEM DAMN CAVE MONKEY CRACKAHS HAVE??? THEY HAVE A SICK ASS NATURE, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S COMING TO THEM... THEY WILL ALL PAY FOR WHAT THEY DID TO THIS BEAUTIFUL SISTAH IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE THAT THESE DAMN CRACKAHS DON'T LOVE US... FUCK ALL PECKERWOODS BLACK POWAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This poor woman was treated like a zoo animal to suffer and die, and then was denied her dignity even in death... I hope there is a hell, that every cheap thrill felt by her captors will burn their souls forever; but we make our own hell. How can any one of us, call ourselves human when we've learned so little through the sacrifice of so many? It starts within each of us, white or black, male or female. Will you be human? Or will you wallow in oppression, fear and sexuality and be an animal.

  • @cyberscryer1 Thiers hell and heaven, in order too AVOID hell,m and live in a peaceful heaven we have, HAVE too accept jesus, christ , our lord and savior. And of Cource believe that jesus died on the cross for our sins, And Want too turn away from our sin, repent.

  • Thank you for making this video x

  • PRAISE GOD for Sarah Baartman may her sould REST in PARADISE and I intend to keep praying hard for ALL our SISTERS (((who are lacking Self Respect))) to get their "Self RESPECT" back! from The DIVA at Maximum Reality Radio 58 Hour Broadcast Every Weekend/Starts FRIDAY 10 PM EST---U already know that GOD is a GOD of COMPLETION!!!

  • the video is nice. you're right. but that doesn't change anything. why is it okay to blame Black America? is it our fault? really? oh okay. Good bye.

  • @mezamni123 No it isn't. However realize that in this day in age the black community sometimes plays in their own demise. I feel like a lot of black people are just ignorant about the deeper issues. Like she said people don't understand the price women before us paid. I don't blame video vixens for trying to make it or rappers, I blame their parents before them who did not teach them their history.

  • @mezamni123 I blame black people who say you're acting white, when you're educated and articulate. I blame black men who think it's ok to sexually harass black women by inappropriately touching them and making cat calls, I blame black men who continually disrespect black women by calling them bitches and hoes. That's someone's daughter, sister, mother, aunt you're degrading. I blame black women who play into these roles, and don't teach their sisters to be ladies and real women.

  • All yal lil childish muthafukas need to stfu. Thid video is amazing. If anything yall muthafukas need to listen n take notes.

  • Thank you for making this video!!!

  • This pretty much proves the theory HOES AINT SHIT. lol

  • LOL stupid whore died of aids..........HA!

  • and if women still feel the need to "shake their ass on camera," i'm sure not enough women have done it so that "they didn't have to." Black women are not the only video vixens. I'm really tired of people blaming "black America" for the ignorance of a certain group of people. How many people in WHITE America enjoy music videos? do we have to "wake up" while they stay asleep? and enjoy video hoes?

  • You cannot blame Black America for video vixens. A female is entitled to "make it" however they please. Not everyone can be a Rosa Parks or Sojourner Truth. And for every video "hoe" out there, there is a female in college making it. I am a representation of Black America, and I did NOT send anyone to go out and shake their ass on camera. and if my husband was to make it as a rapper -- OF COURSE i would sit in front of TV saying "that's my BABY!" what does 50 have to do with it?

  • @mezamni123 50 Cent is one of the MAIN PROBLEMS, as he's VERY disrespectful to our black sisters! And YOU need to re-think your comments, as you sound VERY MUCH like the IGNORANCE this lady speaks of, and until we stop setting for ANY reason to applaud success , we can't expect for other races to give us respect.

  • @marcusrob02 First of all, sir, ignorance is not KNOWING. Trust me, I am very well educated. I know more than enough. But blah, blah, blah. I'm sick of these new age activists who blame black America for everything that goes wrong in the black community.

  • @mezamni123 You sitting at home applauding your husband calling girls "bitch" and "hoe" reflects the IGNORANCE and STUPIDITY we're dealing with. ANYBODY with a BRAIN that WILLINGLY (in 2012) decides to degrade themselves (and this race) SHOULD be blamed, or else the problem will never have a chance to be further addressed and solved, kid!

  • @marcusrob02 I am ignorant because I support 50 cent? Am I also ignorant because I chose to get an education and pursue a career, but still watch music videos? *shrugs* Do you not have friends who call females bitch or hoe?! Do you not have friends who "hit the strip club?" What's the difference between you supporting them and me supporting 50 cent? Is it better justified because they do it for FREE while 50 cent is getting paid?

  • Thank You DeeDee!

  • AWAKEN SLEEPNG AFRICANS! AWAKEN TO THE OPPRESSION, TE IGNORANCE AND THE SELF-HATE! AWAKEN TO YOUR AFRICA DESTINY!

  • Stfu hoe and drop it like its hot ctfu naw u probably ugly

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! I am a motivational speaker for young girls ages 12-18 and I will be including this video in my seminars! THIS IS GREAT AND THE WORLD SHOULD PASS IT ON! GREAT JOB!

  • bitche get a life....when hoes aint got no cash 4 bills they be on sum dicks so stop blaming 50 cent his just a rapper not a kidnapper

  • I am now boycotting the whole idea of video vixen. I feel sad that there is so much of that on tv. This Sara Baartman story has really touched my soul. I can't believe that their are so many men and women who idealize being a sexy video girl. Video girls will admit they don't even get respect while on the set (in some cases). Check out those video vixen documentaries. Black people......MAN! We have GOT to do better. Look how we have been taken so far from our history.

  • The same thing white people made fun of us for having now their paying big bucks to get. Sad!

  • @MsBrittany313 Hair Weaves are a Multi Billion a Year industry....Europe, India, and China THANK YOU. ;)

  • i was touched with this vid

  • how or where did you watch the movie?

  • @MsNie5150 -google black venus movie online and click on the movie2k link

  • I just spent the last 2 and a half hours watching the Sarah Baartman movie"Venus Noire". I am speechless, But I do suggest that every Black woman watches this movie. hell, women period watch this movie. It gives you a better understanding of what Sarah Baartman had to go through. I'm speechless.

  • Wow!...this is so sad..not really sure if this generation will change knowing this information..however it SHOULD be call...but MONEY calls louder than any thing else...so sad. Rest In Peace Sara H.

  • your gave me the chills i love it

  • Every black woman really should know her. Smh the women in the music videos should know the deeper meaning of what they are doing to themselves. It's such a shame after so many courageous black men and women in the past have fought against negative views of who we are and now WE today are supporting these views. Smh

  • POWERFUL! i hadn't heard of her until now and its disgustingly shameful how she was treated and even still disgustingly shameful how women black or otherwise allow ourselves to be disgustingly shameful....we are so much better than what we think or what the world thinks we are...please sisters of all ethnicities wake up and know your worth b/c we are priceless...i love you and God does too...#peaceimout

  • Please, should we be ashamed ?Should we hide ?Does every thing we do have to be over clouded by slavery ?Do I approve or disapprove does it matter who am I too pass judgement .If you think to inspire change by degrading and trying to tell people what to do are you any different from the slave master?

  • wow, this video really moved me I always though shaking your ass in music videos was degrading, but knowing whats behind it, and the deeper meaning behind i hate it even more. I will continue sharing this video because i want to spread the word. THIS TRULY MOVED ME TO TEACH MY FELLOW FRIENDS, THAT THIS IS DEFITNETLY NOT THE WAY.

  • my best friend sent me this video to watch & I am so glad that he did. I never knew about this lady and what horrors she went through. I am so, so, sorry about what happened to her...and sadly to MY ancestors who were like her. I think the problem today with many of us brown people is that we do not know what it was REALLY like in those slavery days. We can visit as many museums read stories and see all the torture devices used on OUR ancestors but we will NEVER know what slavery was TRULY like.

  • Preach!

  • Bravo sister, bravo !

  • Wow...this is so deep and so true....i aree...thanks for sharing

  • @pandoraspoison since free speech rules, you should kill yourself... ignorance is bliss but stupidity and hatred should be punished with death.

  • @jalamphillips i think that your stupid for even saying somthing like that..

  • @MrRandomlyrandom123 yes, SOME black women, just as well as SOME white women are stripers, but I'm not one of them, so do not place me in that category , and sweetie this is not a race issue. it’s a SELF DIGNITY,OR SELF VALUE ISSUE, or lack their of.

  • People please dont get on this page, and show your Ignorance and immaturity with your petty and racial comments. This video has a powerful message to our young black youth , this is a tragedy what happened to this woman, and I’m very sadden by this, and if you’re not here to support the cause, then please keep your thoughts to yourself. Thank you.

  • sorry about the typos i meant move, and woman

  • wow I never even knew this and to all the people who have mean things to say shame on you. If u dont like it just mive on no one wants to hear your ignorant negative opinions because obviously you were interested enough to watch AND COMMENT! but that ok bc you still help the purpose of the video getting people aware to know this womand story:) ha

  • THANX FOR SPEAKIN OUT DEDE... WE SEE SO MANY OF OUR YOUNG BLACK GIRLS OUT HERE BEING TEASED AND ABUSED....MAYBE THIS WILL ALLOW PEOPLE TO SEE WAT WE GO THRU AS BLACK WOMEN.....

  • Even monkeys would scream with this bitch walking around naked. This is a nightmare! hahaha

  • Noob trolls need to learn to troll better.

  • HEH HEH HEH What an ugly bitch! She look like a monkey.

  • your voice is so fascinating you speak and enunciate so well! This was a deep video! I love it!

  • ThanQ for posting this! I've heard stories about her but I never knew her name or her entire story...again thanQ!

  • I hate how us black women are constantly being embarrased by the media and brainwashed too. Videos of black women fighting on here and videos like Sittin on tha toilet that are meant to be funny or entertaining make me sick. If one black women does something it represents all of us. I think it's time black people start uniting again too.... just my thoughts

  • BULLSHIT! She's subhuman.....obviously!

  • @SkorpioMedusa f you!!!

  • @SkorpioMedusa: Who do you mean is sub-human? Your mother? I and all Black Women would expect such an asinine comment from something as vile and sub-human as you. BLACK WOMAN is from whom LIFE began!

  • Thank You!!!!!!

  • This is sad but so true. Im glad to be enlightened , now i can enlighten others about Sara Baartman.. It goes to show how history repeats itself.

  • Preach my sister Preach!!!! Amen Amen. This is so deep!!!!! Wooo Woooo

  • Jeez why am I crying, maybe bcuz the truth hurts but needed 2 be said, and reminded of how we lost ourselves and unconsciously repeat the cycle of being degraded,it saddens me that we cant rise above it,still have a dream!

  • Enough said. Look at us now, still playing into the enemies hand

    -Young Rev

  • Fuck you slavery, Fuck you racism...I refuse to let you hold me down

  • The young black race has been kept away from the truth of who we truly are, and where we come from. Or, they just don't know that we are the true original people. Which is Hebrew's, the lost tribe of Judah, King's and Queen's and if all the young black men and women knew that. We will not be doing what we are doing today, with the killing and rape-in', booty pippin. That's not who we are. We were programmed to do what they do, that's not us, it's them, do the history and get the true facts

  • Wooow!! Simply speechless!!

  • Powerful

  • This is a great video. So empowering! I am a white girl from New Zealand but I believe this video has resonances for women of all races. Great work dede!

  • These images flood the hip hop videos, so much so that we are desensitized to the degradation of black women. We think it is "normal". What is even worse us not enough people speak out against this. It's no wonder Don Imus views black women as "nappy headed hoes".

  • 120 people are retarded black guys

  • 120 ppl are blatant racist point blank period

  • To all the people going on about the girls on the video, that was part of the point of this video: that back in the day, black women were disrespected and dehumanized because of our curves, and now in the present day we encourage/glamorize that same kind of treatment...because apparently it's better than being in the ghetto. The worse part is that this is a terrible cycle, because young girls see these women on the videos and aspire to be the same thing. You see the same thing with rappers.

  • job well done. very nice video

  • this brought so many tears to my eyes

  • I SWEAR 2 ALLAH (GOD) I CRY 4 WHAT U SAY SISTER, IS TRUE ALTHOUGH I AM AFRICAN STILL I AM SOMALIAN, I LOVE MY AFRICAN STORY'S, AND MY BROTHER'S SISTER THOSE WHO BEEN SLEVIERY ,,,,,,,I LOVE YA ALL BLACK & WHITE AND EVERY BADY

  • Nice....but whatever.That shit ain't gon' stop.

  • The lilwaynes n rick ross$ need to listen to this. Its so deep n true. Black women lost.

  • This is powerful and should have national attention. Those of us that reject this lifestyle and insist on being treated as Ladies with dignity are often left fighting for respect these young women give away. Thank you, for this article.

  • nicki minaj....

  • dede I am doing a african american class in college and we were told to look at this video....wow what a statement you have here. Thank you for your insight. @Arhandje188 you mean you are very proud to be one of the most hated race of people on this earth.

  • this is powerful

  • very proud to be white!

  • Comment removed

  • what was her indigenous name?

  • Hard to watch, but essential truth telling. Nice job!

  • Somebody needs to show this to Pebblez da model.

  • Wow what an eye opener.

  • I just said "Amen" to a computer screen that cannot answer back. Powerful.

  • big booty bitches

  • Can u believe my 25 year old niece had no idea who this woman was or what she represented? But knows the name of every video "model".. I wanted to slap her

  • @MrsIDontGivaDamn That is so sad. Every black woman needs to know about the story of Sara. Educate yourselves ladies. Educate your sisters, your daughters, your girlfriends.

  • and they are doing that now...but our black women need to not sign up to be in these videos. it is sickening*

  • wtf?!!!!omfg.poor poor sara.

  • Wow I never heard this story... I honestly wish I did not hear about it because I can only imagine what the mental state of this women had to be... CRAZY but a lesson to be learned...

  • You spoke so much truth right now, I must say you really did open my eyes to how what we are seeing in terms of videos and degradation is just a repeat of history. Great video, I definitely will be spreading this knowledge to those around me.

  • wtf thata messed up

  • OMG! I am so proud of you for making this video! Saartjie's story is one I never heard before, but I will pass it on as we, as black people, this involves our mother, sister, aunt and daughter so we must take notice. I advocate against Domestic Violence and Child Abuse but I never thought I'd advocate for my own (Saartjie) big, beautiful soul! Light and Love...

  • okay, seriously i don't care if it was done for the name of science or to prove that black women had one,i'm just trying to figure out what sick, twisted, freak would cut out a woman's vagina and keep it??.the real question is why would they keep it for so long and why was there a fight about giving back her remains?!?.white people back in that day were just nuts.hate, prejudice and that belief that your better then everybody else because of your skin can truly make you look like an ASS.

  • It's a shame what the world has become, no respect for women in general. What happened, women, especially young girl have no respect for themselves nor they respect their families. All for the pleasure of man. I ask myself "WHY, why must we.exploit women like this?" Are they not human? It doesn't matter what color, religion, etc.. everyone should have RESPECT, for others, especially, for themselves.

  • I do indeed remember and honor her.

  • every human being should know this

  • YES EVERY WOMEN ESPECIALLY THESE YOUNG ONES SHOULD KNOW HER NAME BECAUSE THEY FEEL THAT THE MESURE OF A WOMEN IS WHAT SHE CAN SO WITH HER BODY AND THAT IS SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH

  • men are at no fault for the ass shaking of black women today, the ass shaking is of their own choice, nobody including JZ nor 50 cent is responsible for the behavior of sluts who pop at will for a price

  • @vincerashaad In a sense your right, but remeber it's the message that the rappers are sending out, the message, and if our black men, do not satnd up and honor thier mother, daughter, sister,or wife then who will.... but as u said ultimately the woman should have her own mind & morals to follow when it comes to making a decision. so i guess it's hand in hand.

  • @USNubia23 rappers are paid to spew venom and is totally controlled by whites who's interest is to degrade black people as a whole. . Dont expect rap to change anything anything about itself anytime soon. If you wanna hear positive rap listen to d12 or Lupe Fiasco.

  • This is deep. Wow.

  • that is soooo deep, thank yu for giving insight to such a f**ked up reality but if you really wanna se exploitation in TODAYS world.check out thailand and philippines, still peopke of color, just a different continent

  • These days black women have a choice so don't feel sorry for those hoes on MTV music videos, shaking their butts, Don't compare them to this women, who was forced into it.

  • oohrah 2002 mr madela thank you for what you did to bring her remains back to where they belomg butttttttttt NO ONE FORCES WOMENT O DO VIDEO i have done research for college on mrs bartman love you rip

  • For A Black African American Girl This Video Was A Very Powerful Message To All African American Woman or Girl!

    This Video Made Me Cry!

  • lm black and African and may God bless white people for all the wrong they done to us and while at it may George Bush shit himself to death and so may the curse continue to his generations to come!

  • I'm afraid that the world won't change!

  • I may not be black but the majority of black people on the media, or even in the area of which I live have degraded themselves. I do hate how they talk in a slang and dress skimpy in my school. I wish that people, no matter their ethnicity or color, would wake up from the reality in which they live and remember where they come from, because the majority of people in the US come from a civilization that was treated poorly and unfairly.

  • This was cool until the 2:40 mark, when she start on her fuckin rant.... BOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • LOGG ON2 (BEASTLAMMIK) IN LET US NO WAT YOU THANK.N PLEASE KEEPIT REAL!!!

  • How disgraceful.

  • Poor woman

  • @quietstorm..... your video received my attention until halve way threw then you started pouring out what black men are not doing! It's the white US european that's exploiting black wome. the boss at work exploits you every day for your services because he/she is using your labor to further their goals. your level of shame is not the standard for all women. You can tell black folks what they should do but if you not puttin food on their table and pay they bills you're just a critic nobody likes

  • WOW.

  • oh poor sara. may she rest well on the creator's arms. this was a powerful video. thank you so much

  • :(

  • Thank you

  • Hottentot venus

  • @KilledMeANigger UR DISGUSTING!

  • @KilledMeANigger You should kill yourself and free the world of you Thanks

  • @KilledMeANigger Shut up!! Dumb guy!! You are a waste!! I hope your dumb ass ugly father never made you, and your slutty mom never spread her legs.. I hope you'll never find any happiness in life...

  • Where'd that guy get that "you give too much credit to the whites" from??

  • wow thank you for this info.

  • So Powerful!

Thank you for this you truly touched me with your words!

  • Wonderful video so well spoken thank you for sharing this :)

  • AMEN!

  • u know....i can appreciate that u feel that this is important.....bringing this to ppls attention....but honestly this whole black/white dichotomy is tired....the amount of ppl that have been enslaved and exploited is monumental for EVERY race...cuz ppl exploit PEOPLE not colors.....u guys as black americans need to get over that.....i know they dont teach u real history in ur country so its hard....but inform urself about the world, not just what pertains to the states.....

  • Well written. Thank you for this video.

  • this was over 200 years ago when people were facinated by differences, even pocchahontis was an attraction.

shut up and stop bringing up harriet tubman everytime a black person shakes their ass. white people shake there ass and even film it (paris, Kim, etc) and they don't have to bear the burden of someone living 200 years ago. let the black booty be free to shake without shame like miley cyrus, madonna, and oh britney spears!!!!

  • As a young black man, dis made me very sad. I see alot of beautiful black women on videos that can be so much more then what they are protrayed to be. It really breaks my heart yo smh......GOD called us to live at a higher standard...Wise Up

  • this was really crazy and as an aspiring glamour ("urban") model it really gave me a wake up call as to the direction i really want my entertainment career to go! I never knew that story of Sara Bartman and will be sharing this video and passing it on. those illustrated pictures were HORRENDOUS, is that what those europeans really thought she looked like. i would like to believe she was more in shape than that and it was just an exaggeration! terrible..smh.

  • i like the vid and the commentary however i blame the white man for everything if i wake up in the morning with a headache im going 2 say GODDAM WHITEMAN i hate him

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • the women on GhettoGaggers website shoulda saw this vid before they decided to make fools of themselves letting white men spit on them for cash...

  • They always been savages, all this time passed and a beast will always be a beast,

  • Because those niggers are stupid and those europeans are savages.

  • @FlyLikeAnEagle2012 let me guess, ur american right ?? :)

  • so glad I stumbled on this video

  • A thought provoking upload. Thank you.

  • Deeply profound & Incredibly powerful...

  • "The rappers that know about Sara B. and change for the better should be patronized for honoring her memory-the rappers who do not change should have a sudden halt to their record sales!"

  • Comment removed

  • @MrWINNSLAW : Jessie Jackson spoke about this in 1993, as rap music was just starting to hit the mainstream. Was anybody listening? I think not.

  • Powerful video sister

  • Thank you for the upload. Very informative and well assembled. Sara's( Saartjie Baartman) exploitation did not end as all.. She was the inspiration for the Bustle, the undergarment that allowed ENVIOUS white women to ironically mimic her physical attributes. She was dehumanized in life, and death, but emulated for the sake of fashion,( or would that be Fascination?). Great job!! I look forward to more of your uploads and postings. Praise to the Progeny of AFRICA!!

  • Thank you for the upload. Very informative and well assembled. Saartjie's exploitation did not end there. • @kingrl62 This video brought me to tears. I wish I could thank the videographer personally, and that this could be shown in rotation on TV.

I am writing specifically to you because my hobby is historical costuming, and I had never before heard of the historical antecedent tp the Bustle, although I had always wondered about its origin. Thank you for your post. Information is power!

  • I have been looking for the long time!

  • this is sad it brings tears to my eyes how african american people were treated meanly and how now things like that is accetable ashame

  • Although I completely understand what you are saying, "white culture" does the same with "its" women. Nearly every culture deems women sexual objects. I'm not saying that it's right- I'm really not, but to be fair- they don't only exploit black women, they exploit white, asian, and latino women as well. Perhaps the message should be just in general that you shouldn't sell yourself out. But more emphasis should be put on the conglomerates like BET who bombard youth with negative images of AAs

  • @SoccerLoverJay stfu

  • @AP573 Such an eloquent response.

  • Great upload- knowledge is the key to unlock the Societal doors of ignorance as history repeats itself on the regular.

    Explotation or miseducation?

  • MAN THIS IS A TIGHT VIDEO. WONDERFUL INFO KEEP IT UP SISTA

  • I am speechless. Damn near want to cry. This was on point for sure.

  • Don't forget the bustle later that century...

  • I learned who Sara Baartman was in a COLLEGE class this year! It took twenty years for me to even hear her name. Thank you for making this wonderful video. Sara's story needs to be presented to American youth so they can realize everything you stated in the video- how black women today are choosing to degrade themselves after centuries of being FORCED to degrade themselves, and after so many fought to be free of the oppression! "Video Vixens" no different slaves, and rap culture reinforces it.
