This version has the advantage of being on Columbia whose records at this time I think sound better than Victors. I read that the distinctive sound is due to a boost in the recording at 500-600 hertz.
I agree, the early Columbia's up to around 1931 did sound better than the Victors. They also sound better than the blue wax issues pressed during the death throws of Columbia in the mid thirties
Yes, I've had quite a few of the Columbia blue wax records that were later issues of previous black label issues so I could compare. Black always wins. But they are beautiful.

Good rendition, but I think Jean Goldkette's recording will always be my favorite.
