They beat out Metallica because at that time the Grammy committee had probably never heard a Metallica song, and knew Jethro Tull pretty well. Metallica were considered upstarts, even though they OWNED the Heavy Metal genre at that time. Tull is a great band. So is Metallica. But Tull is definitely NOT a heavy metal act. AND, it was the first year for that category, probably voted on by people who thought disco was great.

Martin Barre is one of the most underrated guitarists out there. the solo in this song is one of the best ever, and if im not mistaken, rolling stone magazine ranked it in their top ten.

It is odd what some of these old rockers are doing once their career winds down or they have enough money to invest in another line of work, the last I heard the singer in this song had some fish farm in Europe and Ted Nudgent has a buisness making beef jerky. A lot of these old timers like me, get screwed over in the end. I remember hearing about the old president Ronald Ragen, it was said that back in his day actors were taxe up to 95% on there income.

Who is Jethro and who is Tull, no one in this band. Jethro Tull was an English farmer that revolutionize farming (in England but spread everywhere). He died in 1741. But the band I have seen them twice 1969 & 71 (i think)
