Oh! by the way hick!!!!! It is you and your people who are uneducated fools!!! What can you say about people who enslave a race because of their color!!!!!!!! You have also at that time separated families
I AGREE I am a Greek and I find this offensive. I happen to love dogs in particular. This is coming from a southerner whose people were cruel slave owners.
@Smasherelsa................you represent the smaller percentage of Greeks who are not pushing a Greek flag in faces of those who dare tell the truth about what's going on in Greece and the situation is getting WORSE. Now even old and sick animals are being abandoned on the streets because their 'owners' don't want to pay vet fees. We ourselves will be adopting one of these 'oldies'.... a dog who weighed 7kg when she was rescued, now she weighs a normal 16kg... she also has leishmania....
I live in Greece (a kiwi) and I have seen all this and more. they believe animals don't have hearts, so don't feel pain !!!! But there are a lot of Greeks who love animals and the number of these are growing all the time.
Without any Animal in this world...we would not exist...Man took animals and made them his companion..they deserve to be ''RESPECTED'' and treated as an equal with the same compassion from Humanity..PLEASE STOP the disagreements and educate the children of the future how to LOVE Animals..and therefore each other..thank you. This cruelty is every where.I live in Cyprus, the cruelty is the same as in Greece...Municipalities do nothing and are blocking a move forward to better the Animal Welfare!!
I cannot believe the childish bickering that is going on.
I Am Greek,i also run an animal rescue from my home.
We Have a discustingly high rate of domestic animal cruelty in this country,as the video shows, and in 2011 we are still fighting.Although my country is beautiful,if you look behind the scenes it is a different story..Thankyou Bonnie for trying to help..
@maria86gr So you are also kindator ?Of course aesops is animal organisation, are you stupid or what, write to them as I believe it was the husband of the head of this who did the survey. Silly question I guess to ask if you are stupid, when all you are interested in is "maria i asximi", what mentality, try showing interest in animals for a change. Hope you enjoyed easter with all the lambs and baby goats tethered in backyards waitng to be improperly slaughtered for barbecues! Last post goodbye!
@maria86gr dont waste your time with that person. She has COMPLEX with Greeks thats why she is doing BLACK PROPAGANDA generalizing the facts with lies and IMPRECISIONS. Dont waste your time. She is doing a JOB!
@maria86gr For goodness sake grow up stupid ungrateful girl, you're more concerned with propaganda than the animals, try helping them for a change and supporting the people who are doing a great job out there with either physical help or money.I cannot help physically as I never want to step foot in the country again but it doesnt stop me sending all the money I can.I can't be bothered to waste any more time with you, you obviously have no idea what is going on in your own country! Shame on you!
@maria86gr Your visitors are getting wise to the animal abuse and are lacking but you will always get the nouveau tourist, ie. russians, romanians, bulgarians, etc. who dont spend much and dont give a damn about animal abuse. Greece could be the most beautiful country in the world but for the abuse and dumping of rubbish and toxic waste, ask your environmentalist about that, Philip Dragoumis. As for not needing our support, where do you think the money and volunteers come from?????
@kindator .... I don't need to create another profile for myself and I have NOT. I don't give a damn what you think!!! We have in our home SEVEN adopted dogs from Greece, 5 of which have been TORTURED.... one was byurned with cigarettes,on Salamina, the second was SHOT IN THE FACE on Crete, the third had tendons cut on his back legs (also on Crete), the 4th was hit by a car & left to die (he had to have a leg amputated....... Greece is the SEWER of the EU !!!!!!!!
@maria86gr "perhaps, something happened in the past that hurts you" yes you are right, I went to Greece for a holiday and it happened to be at the beginning of the "end of tourist season poisoning". A holiday I will never forget unfortunately and that is why I concentrate on Greece, support greeks both morally and financially, and I cannot help all countries, it is all too much and depressing.
@maria86gr I think you need a reality check.Firstly,Greece, the once cradle of civilisation, has the worst record for animal abuse, per capita,in the EU,in a survey done a couple of years ago,it was found that 10% of greeks are abusers,10 % animal lovers, & 80% are indifferent (that includes the greek govt) so in my book the 80% that turn a blind eye are as guilty as the abusers. As already pointed out here, this is about animals, not people, can you not read or is that your pathetic justification?
This is a very sad video. Nothing to be proud of... But i can't understand where this video aims.Cause it gives me a sense of defamation and black propaganda. Greeks are violent, barbarians and sadists? (Or we just have some seek minds. Every country has)That isthe conclusion of this video? So by the way I want to go a little bit further and ask our good and 'sensitive' friends from UK where were they, when they were bombing Iraq with their American friends killing innocent helpless children
@kindator Bombing Iraq was a government decision, not the citizens of u.k. or u.s. and I would have thought you had realised that by the protesting, whereas hanging, poisoning, shooting, starving of dogs and cats is a personal thing done by citizens of Greece, and sadly with the blessing of some municipalities of Greece as well. Apart from anything else, just to remind you this is about animals and not people.
@bonniegarmala Yes, this was a decision of your government (Iraqy War) and i cant blame you or all british people for this crime. But this is the same thing. You cant blame all Greeks about that crime either. Just we have many seek minds as you have in your country.
@kindator . what does animal abuse in Greece have to do with Iraq?? 90% of Greeks love to change any subject around to suit them!!! I'm pleased to say thouh that 10% think minds like yours are ego-centered empty baloons!! They'll rather shit on the Greek flag than beat their chest in nationalistic fascist manner like you are. What does Greece have to be proud of?? Corruption.. fag littered streets.. sadistic cruelty to animals. ...
@bemyslave .....did you know that for every pound of meat that is produces, an animal has to eat at least 7pounds of grain???? Is that not wastage in food??? At the time of high crisis in Ethiopia when millions of people were starving and dying, crop fed to cattle was being prodiuced to fatten cows in America. By growing cash crops, African people failed to produce enough food to feed themselves and all that was needed for a mega disaster to happen was one season without rain.
@bemyslave ...... how pathetic your argument is!! This slideshow is about ANIMAL ABUSE IN GREECE and not about children going hungry in African countries. Since you are so concerned about them, I'm sure you support their causes with generous donations. And I totally agree with those who say that meat production and consumption should be reduced, not only for moral reasons, but to stem world hunger.....cont..
My mum and dad are greek to and im quite ashamed at whats happening in Greece the person who done this video good on them let people show the real Greece its suppose to be the cradle of civilisatation hanging, shooting, raping, poisonings, beatings, dumpings is not civilised in the 21st century they have laws enforce them! No not all greek people abuse animals there are lots of people who are lovely!
@Smasherelsa Thankfully an honest answer from a sensible and enlightened good person. You are right there are lots of lovely greek animal lovers in Greece who go beyond the call of duty to help the poor strays and that is why we support them morally and financially. We just need more of them.
And this is the reason, in the way people discussing here and holding on ignoring all of this suffer and tragedy, me, my family and friends are going on to boycott to visit Greece until something will change there. We are in 2011, now!
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - "I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man." (Mahatma Ghandi)
Nice comment. Just to inform you we (the Greeks) are going to boycott you and the British because we also made a research. So guess what... your countries came first in bestiality (not only in EU but in the whole world) that is the same as animal abuse even if the animal ends with an orgasm or not. So stop having sex with animals and don't forget to pay us the money you owe us from WW2 with your war crimes.
the person who mad this video is a joke im greek and making greeks sound like heartless people im a little affended my dad grew up in greece and someone poisioned one of his fathers dogs and my dad saved the dogs life there are bad people everywhere in this world and alot of animal cruelty right here in the united states so dont go critizing greece
@TheHarehunter Sorry about your father's dogs, and yes, we know that cruelty goes on all over the world but there are prosecutions for animal abuse in the u.s. and the u.k. whereas not in Greece. I think you need to visit again and you would see how bad things are for the animals, not just cats and dogs, but horses and donkeys, their lives are absolutely miserable.
So this girl with the name Maria Daines was in every place to take pictures of the scenes? i could say that some photos are familiar from the google.com... And what is the cost (Euro) to send a dog from Greece to England, and who is paying for these?(treatment, flight, food, etc.) Let's say that this is true.. Greece has also some "animal charities" and they do nothing and they accept to send the dogs to other countries? Hmm... something smells bad here and it isn't the neighbor's dog...
@rammsteinas I didnt say that you were lying, I just implied you are completely out of touch with reality. Maria Daines is a singer/song writer and the photos are sent from the minority greek animal lovers to the main greek charity in the u.k. and myself. The british public pay for the animals to be rescued and brought to the u.k. in the form of donations. Most of the greek animal "charities" are run by ex pats, the municipality shelters are hell holes!
I don't know where you live or how old you are, but if you really care about animals, find a local society and help!! You know the famous quote by Gandhi: "the greatness of a country and its moral progress shall be judged by the way it treats its animals"....
Another dog who came to UK at the end of October was skeletal when rescued in February in Halkidiki... actually, our 8 year old Kali I found in Halkidiki in 2003, skin & bone and in season.... Chrisuli, who is 12, was hit by a car in Athens & left to die... his left foreleg had to be amputated..... I could go on and on..... none of it is 'propaganda'', but come on, Greece has been in the EU since 1981 & prospered enormously as a result (EU is not responsible for corruption that goes on in Greece
We have sevenrescued Greek dogs in our home.. two of them are from Crete. Bonzo was found in 2000 in Malia, unable to walk... some sub-human severed the tendons on his hind legs - when he came in UK & had surgery (one leg at a time) the total cost was £4,000.... in today's money, double that!!! He is now 12 years old & still with us.3 and half year old Mala was shot in the face, thankfully not as severly as Faith, the dog in Kalo Horio, though she lost a part of her nose & cheek and several teeth
I'm not interested in 'anti Greece propaganda'..... I'm just appalled by the horrors committed against animals. Facebook is FULL of 'animal abuse in Greece' pages, most of them set up by GREEK animal rescue volunteers.....I have many Greek friends and they are even more outspoken about their fellow Greeks than what I say. I'm not interested in politics & corruption that goes on in Greece; I care only about the way animals are being (mis) treated.
I have first-hand information from people involved in animal rescue work in Greece, including Crete. I go to Greece annually for 5 weeks during which time I visit some of those our charity (Greek Animal Rescue) supports. i think the case you are referring to happeed on Rhodes, where a farmer hanged two 4 month old puppies, but he is out on appeal. The dog who was shot in Kalo Horio was rescued by a friend (Scottish married to a Greek)..
This is a very sad video. Nothing to be proud of... But i can't understand where this video aims.Cause it gives me a sense of defamation and black propaganda. Greeks are violent, barbarians and sadists? That is the conclusion of this video? So by the way I want to go a little bit further and ask our good and 'sensitive' friends from UK where were they, when they were bombing Iraq with their American friends killing innocent helpless children
@MGZenelis you ask "where this video aims" - hopefully to encourage enough animal lovers, greek and non greek to put constant pressure on the apathetic greek government about animal abuse.
"ask our good and 'sensitive' friends from UK where were they when......." - this video is about animals who have NO voice, and nothing whatsoever to do with ill advised decisions by the UK & US govt.
@bonniegarmala no off course. This seems to be a very black video with many more hidden messages about Greeks. That is what we call racism and propaganda you incriminate all Greeks for acts of sick people. How you will feel if i was making a film with dead Iraqi children and the message was an embargo of your country as the only solution of the problem?
@MGZenelis No hidden messages, no propaganda, and definitely no racism, just fact, Greece has the worst animal abuse record, per capita, in the EU. 10 percent of greeks are animal lovers, 10 percent abusers, 80 percent indifferent, the latter are, IMO, as dangerous as the abusers. Luckily I have the privelege of knowing many of the minority Greek animal lovers.
As I said before, this is purely about animals and sorry, but I have no interest in what "human" beings do to each other.
@MGZenelis P.S. I would be fine about you doing videos re Iraq, it is what a lot of people think, but I would prefer you to film and protest about the damned queen and her guards' fur helmets, using a whole canadian black bear skin each, also that our new govt is wanting to re-introduce fox hunting. A threatened embargo would be good but as with most governments, they dont listen or give a damn!
@MGZenelis this video is about animal abuse witnessed in Greece by countless tourists every year. I was one such tourist way back in 1987..... the so-called holiday turned into a nightmare. If you want to talk about wars in Iraq or wherever, find the right sites for that..... this video or the song by a wonderful & compassionate Maria Daines were made to open people's eyes to what's going on in Greece, to make a feeble attempt to shame the Greek authorities for not enforcing animal welfare laws
@MGZenelis Only 2 weeks ago, a shepherd in Crete gauged out the eyes of his sheep dog with his bare hands.... the poor dog was screaming in agony... was taken to a vet by a caring individual, but had to be put to sleep. The man was arrested after he was reported to the police, but guess what.... the public prosecutor let him go...... Only 6 days ago... again on Crete, a dog was shot at close range, blowing away a big part of her face. After 2 operations, it's still not sure if she will make it.
@bonniekali Sorry for asking but from where you get all this information? I read some months ago about a trial in Crete but the punishment was exemplary strict. I had the feeling that the courts of Crete had a very strict policy for these kind of incidents. Are you sure that this is not a "mouth to mouth" information?
@MGZenelis Sorry to butt in here, but if you were to go onto facebook and make contact with the many greeks there, you would discover that your idea of how crete is or anywhere in greece is for that matter, is completely the opposite. Crete, lesvos and Kos are three of the worst for violence, not just poisoning and Crete is well known for its own type of Mafia where guns are in abundance.
@bonniegarmala I am not opposite about animal rights or sensitive videos that criticize the Greek government and politics for their actions. But i believe that this video has some hidden messages about the ethical principles and values of my fellows. The problem is more political than ethical. We are not barbarians (we just have some seek minds. Every country has.) This video generalize bad behaviors with a racism disposal
@MGZenelis As was said before, no hidden messages, just facts, if you made the effort to seek for yourself you would see this. We are far too busy raising awareness and money for the animals to be involved with politics or racism!
these stuff still happen, humans are really cruel and dont care about other's lifes, im greek, live in crete, and i feel really embarrased . because this video is true, but not everyone is like this, there are people that are different, and care for others, animals are my life, and i really love every of them, iv grown to hate the humankind, seriously, the worst deeds are done by humans, this ''intelligent'' progresses species ,it disgusts me. but for those like me, that care about the
@tsakmakisd - yes "Greece is the place in the World that these terrible things happen more often!" If you live in Greece and deny this you must be totally blind or an animal persecutor yourself. I live here too and witness heinous acts of cruelty on a daily basis. 100,000s of cats, dogs and farm animals are being abused each and every day and I have to rescue and treat these poor creatures. If you deny it exists you're as guilty as the perpetrators!!!
oh !!! you see in England any off these happen , right?
come on you can do better than that.
I see that you all want to blame a country and its people generally and that is a huge mistake .
You can blame the individuals that commit these crimes against animalls here in Greece , but and in the rest of the world too .
You fuckin , hypocritic morron , the purpose of this video is to harm Greece's image around the world but dont be so stupid to believe that you convince anyone.
@tsakmakisd I'm not from UK!!! and I live iin Greece. An ADULT EDUCATED discussion is far more effective than swearing and being abusive and judgemental to people you don't even know!!! Go back to school!!!
Wow - A real demonstration of good education.......communication skills - research ability - questioning mind - awareness and politeness - impressive !!!
I personally have seen this and them and adopted some, helped others and neutered and neuter as many as I can. I found dogs hanged, poisoned and abused. But not only dogs suffer here - farm animals as well - and cats, who die alone behind a bush. It saddens me, while at the same time I am happy that the dogs get the attention, but cats need to get more help. Sorry to say that no Greek or foreign animal organisation has been willing to help or support my personal efforts in TNR
I SWEAR IF I SEE SOMEONE BEAT OR STRANGLE A DOG, I WILL DO THE SAME TO HIΜ\ΗΕR! I FEEL SHAME THAT I AM A GREEK! IF SOMEONE CAN DO STH LIKE THAT TO DOGS,HE CAN DO IT TO A TODDLER TOO! AND THAT MY FRIENDS MEANS HE IS NOTHING BUT A PSYCHOPATHIC MONSTER AND THE ONLY THING HE DESERVES IS TO BE IN PRISON OR STH WORSE ....if you know what I mean
This extends to Cyprus too on a daily basis. There are so few of us to try to save these lovely creatures and at great cost to us as individuals. When the Foreign Minister's wife dumps a puppy in the rubbish bin to be squashed alive what kind of peer leaders do they have; who pay for it to stay out of the media!!I have been to court for nearly a year and so much happened to me because I fight for the voiceless. We are threatened because we love animals,,,please help support all animals
@abarlow532 Appalling that a ministers wife does that, but not surprising. I know that cyprus is just as bad as the animal abuse in Greece. Do you belong to two of the groups on facebook CVA (Cyprus Voice for Animals) and Argos Animal Sanctuary. I am sorry you are suffering because of your love of animals, this is happening to many decent people.
@hateanimalabuse These groups try hard but once again are frightened to do too much in case of repercussions. There isn't one person I know who doesn't get into trouble because of their love and respect for animal life. Some people are full of hatred and don't have any compassion for Human life let alone for Animals.Look how important Bees are to us,yet few try to save and help them Greece and Cyprus still need to change, but it has to be from the Government as they are the ones who don't see it!
@abarlow532 I think the groups are a lot more outspoken now, but it is individuals who get the abuse and threats from neighbours that there animals will be poisoned.
Sometimes we can make a difference if enough people complain, example the guard who bashed a puppy to death in Ioannina. Many of us wrote, phoned the hospital and the police and eventually they did charge the beast. He had attacked a nurse in the past and that caused people to be nervous but someone did come forward as a witness.
Greeks were animal lovers from ancient times... There are greek poems written about pets and Homer at Odessey refers to Ulysees dog "Argos" and how he loved him. Things like that weren't happening in Ancient Greece!!
But ... after 400 of Turkish occupation I doubt if there is a real Greek anymore! :(
Ancient Greeks described MOSTLY as blond with blue eyes... nowadays the common Greek is more dark..
@bemyslave that is such a stupid comment...are you a genetist as well? and how do you know how the ancient Greeks looked like? you were alive back then or you are an incarnated soul from ancient Greece which returned to speak for the animals in ancient Greece? Yes there are many poems for animals in ancient AND modern Greece and a lot of MODERN Greeks DO care unlike your propagandist racist and hateful videos say. In order for a society (any society) to care for animals it must FIRST and ABOVE
@bemyslave anything else CARE FOR HUMANS, for the mentally ill, the disabled, the orphans, the wars which go on in foreign countries, wars started by all these superpowers like your beloved Britain. Children in Africa still DIE OF HUNGER..in the 21st century there are people who die of hunger and poverty and your problem are the animals in Greece? I must tell you i have read some SICK comments of some british here who actually suggest that meat production for instance should be reduced
@st0ryofmylife You have not the slightest idea of what anyone here does for human beings you put 2 and 2 together and make -6.... buts let’s ask you to spell out your actions on the behalf of these peoples – how much have you donated in the past year to aid the starving, how many times have you got off your backside and protested alongside anti war demonstrators, or with pensioners or the unemployed. What exactly has been your contribution to a caring society?
@bemyslave ..cont..i bet they wouldn't say that if their children would have been born in AFRICA now would they? but because they had the luxury to grow up in some western country where all goods are available they didn't learn hunger, they didn't learn poverty and they don't care..
TO all of you sick selfish PHYCHOS who rise animals above humans and ignore the serious problem of this planet i have a message for you :FUCK YOU
and FUCK your racist idiotic propagandist videos as well
@st0ryofmylife and just what do YOU do to help PEOPLE??? Are you donating money to the starving in Africa?? You say the video is racist??? How come??? So tell me, just WHAT RACE THE GREEKS ARE???? SUB-HUMAN RACE???? Machismo malakas!!!
Go and stick your head where the sun don't shine!!! You are pathetic!!!! I have MANY Greek friends who would verbally slaughter all your nationalistic bullshit!!!
I'm one of the animal lovers that are fighting for animal rights. There are so many shelters but the conditions are bad due to lack of money. The new generation, the young people aren't like that and fighting for animals but the last 20 years things got worse because of the big population of Albanians who live in Greece and hate animals. I'm 40 and in my whole life never saw an Albanian with a pet... I saw them torturing, poisoning but never loving pets...
@bluechena Exactly! When people go on holiday, they expect to have a relaxing time and not be subjected to horrific animal abuse and should be warned. For an animal lover, a nightmare holiday involving animals stays in your head every day.
If you visit a Third World country, of course you more or less know what to expect.
This happening all over the world, in every minute, every second! I almost turned off so heartbreaking...my dog is a rescued baby, too and I am happy she is doing relatively well but all those who weren't so lucky to survive...no words to describe...
@leimsieder02 "this happening all over the world" Yes abuse does go on all over the world but one doesnt expect a civilised EU country to have an "end of tourist season poisoning" regime, or dogs hanged in trees!!
If someone doesn't want a dog why don't they just give it to dogs trust or something not hanging it or poisoning or ripping dogs apart.just take the pet to a dogs home for crying out loud.
Easier said than done as the whole country is overrun with stray dogs that were once pets, been abandoned unneutered and you can imagine the result, same with the cats. No RSPCA equivalent, just a few privately run shelters subsidised by overstretched charities, volunteers both greek and foreign & the municipality run shelters are hell holes, as are the "shelters" run by notorious hoarders. Is a terrible situation, cats and dogs are regarded as vermin so its easy just to poison or hang them.
@hateanimalabuse I have 3 dogs and all of them are from dogs trust so why doesnt evryone get a dog when they want one from an animal shelter place and tack care of and dont abandon it
The mistreatment of animals in ANY culture speaks volumes about them. I have personally witnessed the neglect of animals in other countries and will NEVER visit a country known for such. We are supposedly living in a civilized world! This is not OK.
Before you throw your stones ONLY at Greece, you could watch the Animal Planet channel. You would see that animal abuse is a universal phenomenon. "Civilised" countries such as the US and the UK have formed organisations (RSPCA etc) to fight it. If people stopped visiting countries because of these countries' bad policies and customs, noone would ever travel again.
You are missing the point, although there is cruelty in U.S. and U.K. the respective governments take it seriously and the culprits are prosecuted, whereas in Greece, the govt is NOT interested, not even the new PASOK govt. The mayors are corrupt and incidents are covered up, example, the dog dragging behind cars "hobby", and so far the horse that was dragged behind the vehicle in Olympia, no arrest as yet because the vile individual is an ex policeman!
Instead of trying to justify the diobolical cruelty in Greece by mentioning other countries, why not do as we do and support the greek animal lovers and shelters financially and most importantly constantly bombard the relevant ministers, ie. Batzeli and Karchimakis with complaints and point out to them that this will affect tourism in Greece. All the relevant email addresses for them and the greek tourist minister are here on most of the videos information section.
I am not trying to justify anyone. My family and I deeply care about and have animals. We steadily sponsor over 5 shelters with every opportunity we have. The Greek governments do not care about their PEOPLE, so what makes you think they will give a shit about animals?? All the burden is on the private initiatives not governmental. No letter, petition or other form of complaint will resolve the situation!
I appreciate what you're saying, because of the hundreds of emails sent, nobody ever replies,or if they do, it is quoted as "an isolated incident" but what else can we do?? A great number of greeks regard cats and dogs as vermin and that is why the poison goes down at the end of the tourist season, this is illegal, but until the govt take an interest & prosecute, the poisoning will continue. This has been going on for many years, I have older greek friends who tell me this.Keep up your good work!
Conoula. The problem with Greece is, that we who fight for the animals have less rights than the abusers. Going to the police reporting a poison attack ect, is a total waste of time. Many Greeks care for the animals, but the problem is, that way to many here are affried to speak. They just suffer in silence. WE need people to SPEAK. And we need people to STOP going against the ones who are trying to help, instead of going against a government ect who just totally dont care.
their only interest is to go out at the bars and to have fun! i cannot put up with this situation! so,i'm trying to create a shelter for abandoned animals, although it's not easy.but i'm not gonna stop
I wish you luck, but it needs very careful thought, money and also plenty of help. The most difficult or the worst part is that when you are helping strays, you will get to be known by people and find dogs dumped outside your gate.
@bonniegarmala Wait- the fuck with the lyrics? This is a far worse propaganda than I expected... You sure are into bestiality to act like that. Probably something along the lines of you being 14 getting fucked by your mutt and a Greek guy killing it because he 'prolly thought it was raping you so you got a grudge since then. All over the fucking world animals are being mistreated, you fagot. And they will keep getting mistreated as long as humans have those 'superiority' complexes. Fuck you. :)
i'm from greece and when it comes to animals,i feel ashamed to be greek! the greeks don't care about the environment, they abandon their pets and there are so many tortured animals out there....
Not so much stupid about not caring for pets, but stupid in not realising that this will affect their tourism eventually. The majority dont care for cats and dogs regard them as vermin or are indifferent and the minority are animal lovers some of whom are so kind they are almost unbelievable and get themselves into debt and spend most of them time trying to help with the situation. cont.....
cont... But with so many who dont care and possibly another government not giving a damn, they need non greeks to support them physically and financially and that is where my friends and I come in.
Don't forget the cats, seals and other animals heartlessly murdered in greece. The only way they will care is if this problem impacts on their pockets.
Sorry, bit sensitive yesterday, might have come off a bit abrupt... a friend just lost 12 PET cats and kittens to poison, they died slowly and painfully. These cats were not bin-cats, or bothering anyone. Which leaves this as being a personal attack. On our island it is quite normal... the attitude is "I have had a disagreement with you, so I will poison your animals"
I loved your song, I was somewhere between tears and a wry smile at someone actually telling it as it is!
Katina555, you did not come across as abrupt, and who could blame you if you did after an awful experiece like that. I already felt miserable today and now I feel very depressed for your friend and her cats as they are my favourite animal. What island are you on, if you pm with some more details some friends and I will write to the mayor not that it will make any difference except maybe show him that people outside of greece are aware of what is happening in his municipality.
Im asking myself the same thing every day.. Why on earth people cant stand together and stop this madness.. Im trying to gather all the people on RHodes, but its so bloody difficult..
I am Greek, I am civilized, I love animals as much as you do and I adore my little dog. Also, I TOTALLY agree that it is unbelievable that (stupid and illeteral) peoples are doing those things... BUT, before you say all this for Greece you and the lovely singer, can you tell me if you have seen the relevant film about dolphins in Japan? This is done by PROFFESSIONALS my friends, but you still drive your Lexus cas, you watch your Sony and you listen radio through your Toshiba. Thank you!!!!!!
Those who watch this slideshow will be pleased to know that Bonnie (aka Boney Fingers) arrived recently in the UK and is now living happily in Lincolnshire.
When I saw this video I acctually cried my eyes out! I go to Greece every year and I noticed the suffering from the animals, but I never knew how bad it really was. Now I know why my parents told me that if we returned to places in Greece, the cats that I found would be dead. When I'm older I really want to take a gap year and save animals of Greece.
Sorry honey, but im danish, living in Greece, and im not gonna leave you "innocent" people alone for one single minut, until the welfare of the animals here are up to normal civilizied standards!.. Nasta Kala!
We are so proud to have played a part in this and to hear Maria and Paul's words and music describing this tragedy, just gives me chills. Thank you Maria and Paul - Boney Fingers lives and to see her wide smile and wag that tail all day long - is reward enough
foreverautumn63 - it is a pity you removed your comment as was oh so very true but you obviously have your reasons. I just wanted to say that we recently received two pictures of dogs starved to death on chains in Rhodes, was horrific.
I agree with the practice of euthanasia when there is nobody to take care of an animal, especially dogs that depend so much on humans to take care of them.
Here in Greece they consider more humane for a dog to live an awful and terrible life abandoned in the streets than putting it to sleep ... I simply don't understand this ...
The problem is that *most* Greeks, educated or not, have never learned to respect animals. It's another result and part of the whole 'I don't give a shit about anything' attitude.
By many aspects there's a lot of people that they are like living in middle ages or smthng.
Hopefully there are some times that common sense wins. And in our subject, that's when some people rescue those wounded animals.
Again, who are you referring to as 'we'?? Most Greek adoptions are not successful because in general, people don't want to adopt a 'stray' from the streets. I know that some societies check potential homes, but do you also insist the dogs are STERILISED or do you sterilise them prior to them being adopted?? You should, as it's the over-breeding which is the main problem. Most Greeks DON'T take their dogs out for walks and too often they are allowed to roam. Microchip law is NOT being enforced!!
ZAmaryllis.... calling for 'boycott' is merely a gesture of protest, because NOTHING ELSE seems to be making any difference. The mjority of people would, unfortunately, not take any notice tt'.... they want their 2 weeks in the sun, sea etc.of the 'boycott. There are many protests against China/ killing of dogs and cats for fur & to eat, but GREECE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE EU SINCE 1981....yet has the WORST animal welfare record of all the EU countries! Nobody seeems to give a damn.
ZAmaryllis..... I know the case you are talking about .... the people responsible were GREEK .... no foreigner would be stupid enough to drive so many dogs in one van when the temperatures were so high. In addition, they should never have got on the ferry in Patras.. When you refer to 'we', who are you talking about??
Dear ZAmaryllis, you did not read my comment attentively... sterilizing is something different than killing. I have a Greek friend. I once asked here: how come the warmhearted people of Greece are so bed to animals? Her answer was: We never learned... It is normal to us leaving our dogs, that we fed and had around the house abandoned after 2, 3 years.
20 years of polite letter-writing to the Greek authorities have done NOTHING to move them to improve the situation!!!! They continue to LIE BLATANTLY to those who write letters of complaint. saying that 'Greeks respect and love animals' ... PLEASE!!! Yes, a handful do (and I have many caring Greek friends), but the majority couldn't give a damn .... they step over or simply pretend they don't see sick and injured animals instead of help them!!
anobxyo........... numerous people from Germany, Holland, Denmark, UK, Belgium etc ARE working very hard to help animals in Greece .... much of animal rescue work in Greece is being funded from abroad, but your apathetic government are only interested in votes; animal welfare laws in Greece are NOT & never have been enforced, that's why animal abusers and killers are NEVER punished!!!
An amazing song by Maria and the images in the slideshow speak for themselves.
Animals in Greece stand little or no chance and this goes some way to highlight the plight of poor dogs like Bonnie.
She is one of the very few lucky ones. Millions will never know what it is to live a life free of suffering, fear, abuse and neglect. My heart breaks for them!
Animals in greece stand a chance actually, because even thought there are some people, like in all countries that are cruel and rough, there are some others who love animals and treat them like humans.
Indeed it's a sad story seeing pictures like these, but a video like that, is not going to make any good actually. It just ruins a country's image.
A nice video, about stopping animal cruelty, is supposed to make u help as much animals as u can, not make u hate a country.
I just read the above!!! I should 'sign the necessary papers to adopt a starving sick stray from Greece??' ............. You talk about a 'standard official adoption procedure'??? 90% of dogs in Greece spend their entire lives chained, on balconies and gardens and you want to question ME on how the dogs we adopted live?? They are family members, sleeping wherever they want (in the house!), eating the best food, going out on 4 walks a day......
You should read my post again!!!!!! Did I say anything about euthanising a healthy animals???? I gave you 2 examples of when we had our dogs euthanised to spare them suffering.... they could not be 'cured'.
As for the Greek 'giving a chance' to an animal .... this and MANY other videos on You Tube show EXACTLY what 'chances' the Greeks give to animals..... they are dying in their thousands BECAUSE they are being KILLED brutally and indiscriminately!
ZAmaryllis..... I think it could be a general error, as I tried to post a comment earlier several times and it didn't go through ... I 'lost' it in the end and re-wrote it .... it was the comment about euthanasia being a Greek word and that I consider it a blessed release for an animal who is suffering and is beyond help .... I wish I could die a 'good death' when my time comes!!
P,S. WE have 6 adopted dogs from Greece .... had 8,but sadly we had to say good-bye to Cozy in January-he was 14 years old & had suffered heart problems, later also liver,so when he began to lose too much weight, was coughing too much etc,I called the vet to the house and our sweet boy was put to sleep while cradled in my arm ....then in June, we lost Bonnie, after kidney failure...after not eating for 4 days and the blood tests showing there was no hope of recovery for her,we kissed her good-bye.
EUTHANAsia IS A greek word, MEANING 'good death'....If an animal is suffering & is beyond help, we owe it to them to spare them further suffering by EUTHANISING THEM.Tens of thousands of dogs & cats in Greece are poisoned, drowned, hanged, thrown alive into rubbish bins etc every year..HOW HUMANE IS THAT?? How self-rightous you are by saying:that you 'don't have the right to KILL (VERY EMOTIVE WORD!!) an animal, but thousands of your fellow Greeks poison dogs and cats,a lingering & agonising death!
Three years ago I saved a wonderful dog from a terrible life in Greece. He is part of our family now. I wrote letters to the government; now I have come to the conclusion Greek people must be deaf. Why are dogs still be seen as unliving projects, just things?! I advise against everybody who has plans to go to Greece on holiday, I show the awful pictures. Education on this subject in Greece? Teaching children at schools how to take care for animals? Law 3170? Never heard of...
So as u understand, this only makes matters worse. It is not a cry for help. It is a country banning generally, and it's people specifically.
You should be active and helpful, not stupid and misled, and i use the word stupid ,even know i know it's not so "formal", because i am angry of what i see.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
People, who are doing this to animals in Greece, are usually old people , uneducated, who won't listen whatever u tell them, no matter how many times u try, but such people exist in EVERY country, such as YOURS. Your song, is at least offensive, for those who try and rescue dogs, and this kind of people is the majority here. So,you should focus on HEALTHCARE given to animals, if u want to be an active member instead of critisizing Greece,.
Killing animals is of course is unacceptable, but what you are doing also is, because by doing that u are not going to make any of Greek people who have wrong beliefs about animals, understand what is happening. You are going to create a bad image of Greece and reduce tourism, which means that even these 900 views which are not much are going go harm economically Greece.
Oh! by the way hick!!!!!

I am involved with animal rescure.

@maria86gr "perhaps, something happened in the past that hurts you" yes you are right, I went to Greece for a holiday and it happened to be at the beginning of the "end of tourist season poisoning". A holiday I will never forget unfortunately and that is why I concentrate on Greece, support greeks both morally and financially, and I cannot help all countries, it is all too much and depressing.
hateanimalabuse 9 months ago

So by the way I want to go a little bit further and ask our good and 'sensitive' friends from UK where were they, when they were bombing Iraq with their American friends killing innocent helpless children
kindator 9 months ago
@kindator Bombing Iraq was a government decision, not the citizens of u.k. or u.s. and I would have thought you had realised that by the protesting, whereas hanging, poisoning, shooting, starving of dogs and cats is a personal thing done by citizens of Greece, and sadly with the blessing of some municipalities of Greece as well. Apart from anything else, just to remind you this is about animals and not people.
bonniegarmala 9 months ago 4
@bonniegarmala Yes, this was a decision of your government (Iraqy War) and i cant blame you or all british people for this crime. But this is the same thing. You cant blame all Greeks about that crime either. Just we have many seek minds as you have in your country.
kindator 9 months ago
@kindator . what does animal abuse in Greece have to do with Iraq?? 90% of Greeks love to change any subject around to suit them!!! I'm pleased to say thouh that 10% think minds like yours are ego-centered empty baloons!! They'll rather shit on the Greek flag than beat their chest in nationalistic fascist manner like you are. By growing cash crops, African people failed to produce enough food to feed themselves and all that was needed for a mega disaster to happen was one season without rain.
bonniekali 9 months ago
@bemyslave ...... how pathetic your argument is!! This slideshow is about ANIMAL ABUSE IN GREECE and not about children going hungry in African countries. Since you are so concerned about them, I'm sure you support their causes with generous donations. And I totally agree with those who say that meat production and consumption should be reduced, not only for moral reasons, but to stem world hunger.....cont..

@Smasherelsa Thankfully an honest answer from a sensible and enlightened good person. You are right there are lots of lovely greek animal lovers in Greece who go beyond the call of duty to help the poor strays and that is why we support them morally and financially. We just need more of them.

The british public pay for the animals to be rescued and brought to the u.k. in the form of donations. Most of the greek animal "charities" are run by ex pats, the municipality shelters are hell holes!

I could go on and on..... none of it is 'propaganda'', but come on, Greece has been in the EU since 1981 & prospered enormously as a result (EU is not responsible for corruption that goes on in Greece
bonniekali 1 year ago
We have sevenrescued Greek dogs in our home.. two of them are from Crete. Bonzo was found in 2000 in Malia, unable to walk... some sub-human severed the tendons on his hind legs - when he came in UK & had surgery (one leg at a time) the total cost was £4,000.... in today's money, double that!!! He is now 12 years old & still with us.3 and half year old Mala was shot in the face, thankfully not as severly as Faith, the dog in Kalo Horio, though she lost a part of her nose & cheek and several teeth
bonniekali 1 year ago
I'm not interested in 'anti Greece propaganda'..... I'm just appalled by the horrors committed against animals. Facebook is FULL of 'animal abuse in Greece' pages, most of them set up by GREEK animal rescue volunteers.....I have many Greek friends and they are even more outspoken about their fellow Greeks than what I say. I'm not interested in politics & corruption that goes on in Greece; I care only about the way animals are being (mis) treated.
bonniekali 1 year ago
I have first-hand information from people involved in animal rescue work in Greece, including Crete. I go to Greece annually for 5 weeks during which time I visit some of those our charity (Greek Animal Rescue) supports. i think the case you are referring to happeed on Rhodes, where a farmer hanged two 4 month old puppies, but he is out on appeal. The dog who was shot in Kalo Horio was rescued by a friend (Scottish married to a Greek)..

@MGZenelis you ask "where this video aims" - hopefully to encourage enough animal lovers, greek and non greek to put constant pressure on the apathetic greek government about animal abuse.
"ask our good and 'sensitive' friends from UK where were they when......." - this video is about animals who have NO voice, and nothing whatsoever to do with ill advised decisions by the UK & US govt.
bonniegarmala 1 year ago
@bonniegarmala no off course. This seems to be a very black video with many more hidden messages about Greeks. That is what we call racism and propaganda you incriminate all Greeks for acts of sick people. How you will feel if i was making a film with dead Iraqi children and the message was an embargo of your country as the only solution of the problem?
MGZenelis 1 year ago
@MGZenelis No hidden messages, no propaganda, and definitely no racism, just fact, Greece has the worst animal abuse record, per capita, in the EU. 10 percent of greeks are animal lovers, 10 percent abusers, 80 percent indifferent, the latter are, IMO, as dangerous as the abusers. Luckily I have the privelege of knowing many of the minority Greek animal lovers.
As I said before, this is purely about animals and sorry, but I have no interest in what "human" beings do to each other.
bonniegarmala 1 year ago
@MGZenelis P.S. I would be fine about you doing videos re Iraq, it is what a lot of people think, but I would prefer you to film and protest about the damned queen and her guards' fur helmets, using a whole canadian black bear skin each, also that our new govt is wanting to re-introduce fox hunting. A threatened embargo would be good but as with most governments, they dont listen or give a damn!
bonniegarmala 1 year ago
@MGZenelis this video is about animal abuse witnessed in Greece by countless tourists every year. I was one such tourist way back in 1987..... the so-called holiday turned into a nightmare. If you want to talk about wars in Iraq or wherever, find the right sites for that..... this video or the song by a wonderful & compassionate Maria Daines were made to open people's eyes to what's going on in Greece, to make a feeble attempt to shame the Greek authorities for not enforcing animal welfare laws
bonniekali 1 year ago
@MGZenelis Only 2 weeks ago, a shepherd in Crete gauged out the eyes of his sheep dog with his bare hands.... the poor dog was screaming in agony... was taken to a vet by a caring individual, but had to be put to sleep. The man was arrested after he was reported to the police, but guess what.... the public prosecutor let him go...... Only 6 days ago... again on Crete, a dog was shot at close range, blowing away a big part of her face. After 2 operations, it's still not sure if she will make it.
bonniekali 1 year ago
@bonniekali Sorry for asking but from where you get all this information? I read some months ago about a trial in Crete but the punishment was exemplary strict. I had the feeling that the courts of Crete had a very strict policy for these kind of incidents. Are you sure that this is not a "mouth to mouth" information?
MGZenelis 1 year ago
@MGZenelis Sorry to butt in here, but if you were to go onto facebook and make contact with the many greeks there, you would discover that your idea of how crete is or anywhere in greece is for that matter, is completely the opposite. Crete, lesvos and Kos are three of the worst for violence, not just poisoning and Crete is well known for its own type of Mafia where guns are in abundance.
bonniegarmala 1 year ago
@bonniegarmala I am not opposite about animal rights or sensitive videos that criticize the Greek government and politics for their actions. But i believe that this video has some hidden messages about the ethical principles and values of my fellows. The problem is more political than ethical. We are not barbarians (we just have some seek minds. Every country has.) This video generalize bad behaviors with a racism disposal
MGZenelis 1 year ago
@MGZenelis As was said before, no hidden messages, just facts, if you made the effort to seek for yourself you would see this. We are far too busy raising awareness and money for the animals to be involved with politics or racism!

But not only dogs suffer here - farm animals as well - and cats, who die alone behind a bush. It saddens me, while at the same time I am happy that the dogs get the attention, but cats need to get more help. We are threatened because we love animals,,,please help support all animals
abarlow532 1 year ago
@abarlow532 Appalling that a ministers wife does that, but not surprising. I know that cyprus is just as bad as the animal abuse in Greece. Do you belong to two of the groups on facebook CVA (Cyprus Voice for Animals) and Argos Animal Sanctuary. I am sorry you are suffering because of your love of animals, this is happening to many decent people.
hateanimalabuse 1 year ago
@hateanimalabuse These groups try hard but once again are frightened to do too much in case of repercussions. There isn't one person I know who doesn't get into trouble because of their love and respect for animal life. Some people are full of hatred and don't have any compassion for Human life let alone for Animals.Look how important Bees are to us,yet few try to save and help them Greece and Cyprus still need to change, but it has to be from the Government as they are the ones who don't see it!
abarlow532 1 year ago

Ancient Greeks described MOSTLY as blond with blue eyes... nowadays the common Greek is more dark..
bemyslave 1 year ago
@bemyslave that is such a stupid comment...are you a genetist as well? and how do you know how the ancient Greeks looked like? you were alive back then or you are an incarnated soul from ancient Greece which returned to speak for the animals in ancient Greece? Yes there are many poems for animals in ancient AND modern Greece and a lot of MODERN Greeks DO care unlike your propagandist racist and hateful videos say. In order for a society (any society) to care for animals it must FIRST and ABOVE
st0ryofmylife 1 year ago 7
@bemyslave anything else CARE FOR HUMANS, for the mentally ill, the disabled, the orphans, the wars which go on in foreign countries, wars started by all these superpowers like your beloved Britain. Children in Africa still DIE OF HUNGER..in the 21st century there are people who die of hunger and poverty and your problem are the animals in Greece? I must tell you i have read some SICK comments of some british here who actually suggest that meat production for instance should be reduced
st0ryofmylife 1 year ago 5
@st0ryofmylife You have not the slightest idea of what anyone here does for human beings you put 2 and 2 together and make -6.... buts let’s ask you to spell out your actions on the behalf of these peoples – how much have you donated in the past year to aid the starving, how many times have you got off your backside and protested alongside anti war demonstrators, or with pensioners or the unemployed. What exactly has been your contribution to a caring society?
account5710 1 year ago
@bemyslave ..cont..i bet they wouldn't say that if their children would have been born in AFRICA now would they? but because they had the luxury to grow up in some western country where all goods are available they didn't learn hunger, they didn't learn poverty and they don't care..

I'm so ashamed to be Greek... '((
I'm one of the animal lovers that are fighting for animal rights.

Greece should be thrown out of the EU due to not implimenting their Animal Welfare Laws, PLEASE BOYCOTT GREECE THEY DO NOT DESERVE A CENT!!!
bluechena 1 year ago
@bluechena Exactly! When people go on holiday, they expect to have a relaxing time and not be subjected to horrific animal abuse and should be warned. For an animal lover, a nightmare holiday involving animals stays in your head every day.
If you visit a Third World country, of course you more or less know what to expect.

If someone doesn't want a dog why don't they just give it to dogs trust or something not hanging it or poisoning or ripping dogs apart.just take the pet to a dogs home for crying out loud.
katyborder1999 1 year ago
Easier said than done as the whole country is overrun with stray dogs that were once pets, been abandoned unneutered and you can imagine the result, same with the cats. No RSPCA equivalent, just a few privately run shelters subsidised by overstretched charities, volunteers both greek and foreign & the municipality run shelters are hell holes, as are the "shelters" run by notorious hoarders. Is a terrible situation, cats and dogs are regarded as vermin so its easy just to poison or hang them.
hateanimalabuse 1 year ago
@hateanimalabuse I have 3 dogs and all of them are from dogs trust so why doesnt evryone get a dog when they want one from an animal shelter place and tack care of and dont abandon it
katyborder1999 1 year ago
The mistreatment of animals in ANY culture speaks volumes about them. I have personally witnessed the neglect of animals in other countries and will NEVER visit a country known for such. We are supposedly living in a civilized world! This is not OK.
divajack 1 year ago
Before you throw your stones ONLY at Greece, you could watch the Animal Planet channel. You would see that animal abuse is a universal phenomenon. "Civilised" countries such as the US and the UK have formed organisations (RSPCA etc) to fight it. If people stopped visiting countries because of these countries' bad policies and customs, noone would ever travel again.
conoula 2 years ago
You are missing the point, although there is cruelty in U.S. and U.K. the respective governments take it seriously and the culprits are prosecuted, whereas in Greece, the govt is NOT interested, not even the new PASOK govt. The mayors are corrupt and incidents are covered up, example, the dog dragging behind cars "hobby", and so far the horse that was dragged behind the vehicle in Olympia, no arrest as yet because the vile individual is an ex policeman!
hateanimalabuse 2 years ago 3
Instead of trying to justify the diobolical cruelty in Greece by mentioning other countries, why not do as we do and support the greek animal lovers and shelters financially and most importantly constantly bombard the relevant ministers, ie. Batzeli and Karchimakis with complaints and point out to them that this will affect tourism in Greece. All the relevant email addresses for them and the greek tourist minister are here on most of the videos information section.
hateanimalabuse 2 years ago 2
I am not trying to justify anyone. My family and I deeply care about and have animals. We steadily sponsor over 5 shelters with every opportunity we have. The Greek governments do not care about their PEOPLE, so what makes you think they will give a shit about animals?? All the burden is on the private initiatives not governmental. No letter, petition or other form of complaint will resolve the situation!
conoula 2 years ago
I appreciate what you're saying, because of the hundreds of emails sent, nobody ever replies,or if they do, it is quoted as "an isolated incident" but what else can we do?? A great number of greeks regard cats and dogs as vermin and that is why the poison goes down at the end of the tourist season, this is illegal, but until the govt take an interest & prosecute, the poisoning will continue. This has been going on for many years, I have older greek friends who tell me this.Keep up your good work!
hateanimalabuse 2 years ago

I loved your song, I was somewhere between tears and a wry smile at someone actually telling it as it is!
katina555 2 years ago
Katina555, you did not come across as abrupt, and who could blame you if you did after an awful experiece like that. I agree with the practice of euthanasia when there is nobody to take care of an animal, especially dogs that depend so much on humans to take care of them.
Here in Greece they consider more humane for a dog to live an awful and terrible life abandoned in the streets than putting it to sleep ... I simply don't understand this ...
nkmarks 2 years ago
If only everyone had your sensible and realiastic approach, life would be a lot better for the animals and the volunteers.
bonniegarmala 2 years ago

Microchip law is NOT being enforced!!
bonniekali 2 years ago
ZAmaryllis.... calling for 'boycott' is merely a gesture of protest, because NOTHING ELSE seems to be making any difference. The mjority of people would, unfortunately, not take any notice tt'.... they want their 2 weeks in the sun, sea etc.of the 'boycott. There are many protests against China/ killing of dogs and cats for fur & to eat, but GREECE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE EU SINCE 1981....yet has the WORST animal welfare record of all the EU countries! Nobody seeems to give a damn.
bonniekali 2 years ago 5
ZAmaryllis..... I know the case you are talking about .... the people responsible were GREEK .... no foreigner would be stupid enough to drive so many dogs in one van when the temperatures were so high. In addition, they should never have got on the ferry in Patras.. When you refer to 'we', who are you talking about??
bonniekali 2 years ago
Dear ZAmaryllis, you did not read my comment attentively... sterilizing is something different than killing. I have a Greek friend. I once asked here: how come the warmhearted people of Greece are so bed to animals? Her answer was: We never learned... It is normal to us leaving our dogs, that we fed and had around the house abandoned after 2, 3 years.
archanes1 2 years ago
20 years of polite letter-writing to the Greek authorities have done NOTHING to move them to improve the situation!!!! They continue to LIE BLATANTLY to those who write letters of complaint. saying that 'Greeks respect and love animals' ... PLEASE!!! Yes, a handful do (and I have many caring Greek friends), but the majority couldn't give a damn .... they step over or simply pretend they don't see sick and injured animals instead of help them!!
bonniekali 2 years ago 4
anobxyo........... numerous people from Germany, Holland, Denmark, UK, Belgium etc ARE working very hard to help animals in Greece .... much of animal rescue work in Greece is being funded from abroad, but your apathetic government are only interested in votes; animal welfare laws in Greece are NOT & never have been enforced, that's why animal abusers and killers are NEVER punished!!!

My heart breaks for them!
blastbeat71 2 years ago 2
Animals in greece stand a chance actually, because even thought there are some people, like in all countries that are cruel and rough, there are some others who love animals and treat them like humans.
Indeed it's a sad story seeing pictures like these, but a video like that, is not going to make any good actually. It just ruins a country's image.
A nice video, about stopping animal cruelty, is supposed to make u help as much animals as u can, not make u hate a country.
anobxyo 2 years ago
I just read the above!!! I should 'sign the necessary papers to adopt a starving sick stray from Greece??' ............. You talk about a 'standard official adoption procedure'??? 90% of dogs in Greece spend their entire lives chained, on balconies and gardens and you want to question ME on how the dogs we adopted live?? They are family members, sleeping wherever they want (in the house!), eating the best food, going out on 4 walks a day......
bonniekali 2 years ago
You should read my post again!!!!!! Did I say anything about euthanising a healthy animals???? I gave you 2 examples of when we had our dogs euthanised to spare them suffering.... they could not be 'cured'.
As for the Greek 'giving a chance' to an animal .... this and MANY other videos on You Tube show EXACTLY what 'chances' the Greeks give to animals..... they are dying in their thousands BECAUSE they are being KILLED brutally and indiscriminately!
bonniekali 2 years ago
ZAmaryllis..... I think it could be a general error, as I tried to post a comment earlier several times and it didn't go through ... I 'lost' it in the end and re-wrote it .... it was the comment about euthanasia being a Greek word and that I consider it a blessed release for an animal who is suffering and is beyond help .... I wish I could die a 'good death' when my time comes!!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
People, who are doing this to animals in Greece, are usually old people , uneducated, who won't listen whatever u tell them, no matter how many times u try, but such people exist in EVERY country, such as YOURS. Your song, is at least offensive, for those who try and rescue dogs, and this kind of people is the majority here. So,you should focus on HEALTHCARE given to animals, if u want to be an active member instead of critisizing Greece,.
anobxyo 2 years ago
Killing animals is of course is unacceptable, but what you are doing also is, because by doing that u are not going to make any of Greek people who have wrong beliefs about animals, understand what is happening. You are going to create a bad image of Greece and reduce tourism, which means that even these 900 views which are not much are going go harm economically Greece.
