The games of the SNES were the last of the best. Complex storylines, great graphics, & some element that made them beyond remarkable. I cried after finishing countless games b/c the endings were so epic. Now, when I finish PS3 or Xbox games, I'm like "meh" & and it feels empty. As a product of Atari & NES, the new systems are so hollow but the kids like them. It makes me feel old ...
@USRecovery2kX Don't feel old, feel lucky. My generation will never get to experience those moments, nor will they ever get to play (as I've heard many call it) "the last great console," the SNES. At least I've got these YouTube vids :D
Go download the SNES emulator & the full collection of games. You still have a chance to play them but without having to buy the console, mess with cartridges & worry about connections.
@USRecovery2kX Oh yeah, believe me, I've been through my emulator days. To keep it relevant, I've played the other two games in this (loose) trilogy; Illusion of Gaia was pretty sweet, but i can't remember why I stopped playing it, and Soul Blazer was... meh. Everything's gotta start somewhere, though
Illusion of Gaia was badly done. The game was far too linear. Soul Blazer was great. The graphics of both games were incredible - just like Lufia's graphics were. If you remember the beginning of Lufia: Rise of the Sinistrals - the castle's background was epic. When you go underwater to explore it again in the future, it was just as epic. Now games are too much about graphics but have crappy storylines; as Final Fantasy 9 showed us.
@USRecovery2kX Graphics being put above every other aspect of the game happens far too often for my liking. It's really kinda sad. I never played the Lufia series, but I might have to
Lufia for the SNES was great. The creators put more effort into Lufia 2 by making puzzles; some insanely difficult. When they did Lufia for the gameboy, it was just a hack & slash game.
So i played Terranigma for the first time, i started 3 weeks ago and just a minute ago i finished it. It's really a sad story indeed and one hell of a game they created. Even now in 2010 this one really stands out...
I didn't cry like some people, but that's maybe because i'm 28 years old :-).
Anyway, fabulous game, i'll never forget it!
Ow, and the one knocking on the door, considering Ark lived on as a bird, and you can hear a bird while knocking on the door, for me it has to be Ark...
Oh hell, this makes me cry even when I watch it 13 years after finish Terranigma the first time.
The ending is tough and very sad. Maybe one of the sadest moments in video game history. However, as I kept watching the ending until the credits were over, I knew the ending was a good one though.
For me, I know who's knocking on the door. Thats my interpretation of the final scene. :)
i remember playing this when it came out in japan and after i finished i was dazed for days. the ending was just so... dark. i cant find a good word. but this is my fav game of all time.
I felt the same. Greatest game of all times. I would describe the ending as incredibly sad and "unfair", both to Ark and Dark World Melina. I cried back then when I first played it, and I still do when I think about it. Very powerfull story telling.
poor ark, he has nobody to stay alive and he knows that hes a half-creature of light and darkness, and when the darkness ,underground, disappear , he disappeard , too
Well there are games like... Actraiser, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. They aren't directly related to Terranigma but they're made by the same company and they're still awesome games.
Lol...I love the opening intro that's added in all your videos. Illusion of Gaia had a great bitter/sweet ending; this is the first time I've seen the sequel, and this ending gives me a happy yet sorrowful feeling. Good job, AR. Is this the Pal version?
"I tried to kill you as a baby in Storkolm"
I've never even PLAYED this game, and that got me choked up. Truly an underrated gem

The one and only game and ever brought a tear to my eye. Because of this. It should be classified as a WMD.

I found the ending somehow sickening. You just used as a tool and left there to die.
