@abfive They're too good for that commercialist garbage dump. Not to say that most of the artists in the RORHOF aren't good, but it's really a waste of time.
that's right geddy, don't look at your bass when you're tearing the damn thing apart, and continue to make all of us bassists worldwide look like crap.
"One Likes to believe in the freedom of music, but glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity" are some of the greatest lyrics ever written.
@elchafa Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check out some of their stuff when I get some time. I've heard of the band, but don't really know them. As time goes by, it gets harder to stay current with some of the newer stuff. You know the routine. Work, sleep, work, sleep.
@atomicpunk48 Sure, balance is the key: work, sleep, rush, muse, work, sleep, rush, muse. lol no, just kiddin. But that's why other humans are here, to share queality art with others; check this one out for an example of Muse live: /watch?v=9k45QYx9VVM
I grew up in a house with 3 older brothers in the 70's, one punk, one into rock music and one was into Kraftwerk, Tubeweway Army etc, all three were way ahead of there time, i was so lucky, my music has become so eclectic because of these three. however one album that struck me along with Never Mind The Bollocks and Unkown Pleasures was this album that featured Spirit of Radio. Listening to that album talking about life in rock pools and radio waves was just amazing. Long live Rush, your amazing
its too hard to pick a favorite song, so i give up and play all 30 plus years over and over! ive been sacrificing myself and visiting christian rock sites and posting the true trinity are alive and well, RUSH!
Where would I be on guitar if it wasn't for Rush! I still love this band.....as a result Rush lead me into bands like Steve Vai, Dream Theater, and many other progressive bands. Rush made me the player I am today.
Thanks Rush! for all the great music over all these years!!!...( I'm from their home town)
The first time I saw Rush , I paid 1 dollar and two cents to see them . It was a radio promo in the mid seventies for WLRS 102 in Louisville Kentucky. I took my son to see them on the Snakes and Arrows tour , lets just say he's a fan now . We saw them again on their last tour . That makes six for me . Anyone who denies their legend status as musicians has either never seen them live or is a complete musical retard .
@ReflectionsNYC There are teenagers who actually think for themselves and aren't the majority of the simple minded generation as we see in some of the comments. But fuck! They are doing a remake of FOOTLOOSE for God's sake! Talk about the entertainment business executives patronizing them.
@heartdisciple Its a shame their dream theater's singer is horrid and often is louder than the instruments. Though Liquid Tension Experiment is amazing (basicly dream theater without the singer and with the bassist from king crimson)
@Jmansfie1 Horrid is a bit harsh. When i would listen to their old stuff it just seemed like his voice didnt fit well with how hard everyone else sounded. Though I guess I'm just picky when it comes to singers. I didnt like geddy lee when i first heard him but because of the insightful lyrics i could still bear it.
Also I usually listen to instrumentalist like steve morse so that sort of tells you I prefer there to be no singer. Opinions, thats music for you.
@Himeka2015 greaaaaaat! i will do the same thing when i have kids, may be not at 10... they'll listen to Rush from the cradle!, hooray for your mom!!!
OMG.... I have a friend who says he loves Rush and everything about it... and then one day when we were listening to The Spirit of Radio, when it came to the line, "All this machinery, making modern music, can still be open-hearted", he said to me, "Hold on, I just realized something! That line doesn't make any sense. Why did Neil Peart put that in?"
I'm 17, and I think Rush is one of the best bands ever. My dad went to see them in '82 and he took me to see them last year and I was hooked. Long live Rush!
I think Hall of Fames are a ridiculous concept, but find it curious that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland, Ohio, and if I am correct Rush first made a name for themselves playing and connecting with people in ... Cleveland, Ohio.
I just want to drive to Cleveland next year...I want them going in side by side with Kiss...Kiss had to have them as an opening band...It would be perfect..What are the other choices right now for the Hall?..Abba already got in
Rush have officially gone beyond mere considerations of cool/not-cool or great/rubbish. They have entered into that zone where people who sincerely like their stuff need not be afraid to say so to anyone, and people who secretly like their stuff but were formerly afraid to admit it can now say so without fear of ridicule, because it's OK to like Rush ironically, as it were. As for me, I just like 'em, while recognising that the lyrics are sometimes ridiculous. Yay!
How about this, everyone who believes that RUSH has been unfairly left out of the Rock and Roll hall of fame, send an email to them and (Politely) protest. Let them know that the people who sign their paychecks (us) are unhappy, and that they should fix it.
@klimber1000 after careful consideration of your crime, we feel that your punishment should be as horrible as the act youve comitted......we sentence you to have a walkman playing justin beeber at full volume hanged from your neck until dead.....and may GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOUL!!!
it says theres a rush concert coming to my area right under the likes and dislikes...so i got super excited and clicked on it....turns out it was BIG TIME rush....got all excited for nothing :(
I had crushes on both Alex and Neil. I felt Geddy was way less sexy but also likeable.
When I became a fan I was so young I would not have wanted to have sex with any of them. Not until they reached age 55 or so did Neil pull ahead of Alex only by balding less than Alex. This is quite some years later. I went from age 15 all the way to age 43.
Recorded this on DVD when DirecTV offered it ~ awesome today, yesterday. who cares? I think this is written in my soul as it is anyone who was of age back in the day.
One of the only times when they film the guitarist as much as the lead singer... I wish Peart was given more time though. The riff is so fucking awesome... and I love when the crows goes ALSJF :ALJG:LAKJLGSKDJ G:L at "concert hall" :`D
Neil Peart continued "Any tiny inaccuracy seemed magnified to staggering immensity by an internal vision of spinning tape-reels, malevolent machinery capturing that damned millisecond forever.
But for these two nights, the gods smile."
Amen. This is my fave version of Spirit of Radio of all time. The small guitar part just before and after "For the words of the prophets..." part is unprecedented and the best ever!
"For a band with high standards, a perfect show is impossible, and an excellent show is rare. You hope that the norm is "good". To deliver a really exceptional, comfortable performance before a recording truck or film crew has been our unfulfilled dream of many years. Always it seemed that as soon as the machines started rolling, we forgot how to play and our equipment forgot how to work."
"All this machinery making modern music Can still be open-hearted Not so coldly charted, It's really just a question Of your honesty One likes to believe in the freedom of music, But glittering prizes And endless compromises Shatter the illusion Of integrity." I think this is one of the greatest, most profound lyrics ever in a rock song.It sadly shows what all the fucking shit music dominating the pop charts,is missing!
@steveo96100 i agree this is that kind of MOTIVATION MUSIC . UP ON MY WAY TO THE OFFICE, I'M GONNA TELL JOHNSON TO SHUTUP . CAN'T YOU SEE NEIL'S DRUMMIN IT UP .OMG RUSH IS SO FREAKING AWESOME NER NER NER NER, NER NER NER NER DA DA DA PSH PSH.
@cambruoso when they wrote this in the eighties it was true then. it is even more true now. Lady gaga isnt music. rap isnt music, its poetry to a beat and anyone who says otherwise knows nothing of music and its structure
Three musicians? All that sound? Jesus what happened to music nowadays? Nowadays you need 10 musicians on stage, a crew of back-up dancers, and a crap load of stuff going on in the background.
@MagCynic I know they're amazing, I saw them two weeks ago and loved every minute. I guess I'm old because I can't relate to today's music, but these guys are great.
@evilemperordude I'm glad younger people love Rush, I don't know if today's music sucks, it just seems too fake, but my parents said the same thing to me when I was young. I think people love the bands they grew up with and Rush is one of them for me.
@RUSHSUCKS1000 RUSH has won more awards then you could ever win in your entire life no matter how hard you ever try. u have no taste in music and no life if u take the time to create account to go against the greatest band in the world. u try and play synthesizer and bass at the same time. U try and mimic neil pearts solos. Too scared to even respond? thats what i thought bitch
Rock Band 4 drums:
1) Easy
2) Medium

Quoting Neal Peart for the Show Of Hands shows:
"For a band with high standards, a perfect show is impossible, and an excellent show is rare. You hope that the norm is "good". To deliver a really exceptional, comfortable performance before a recording truck or film crew has been our unfulfilled dream of many years. Always it seemed that as soon as the machines started rolling, we forgot how to play and our equipment forgot how to work."

@cambruoso when they wrote this in the eighties it was true then. it is even more true now. Lady gaga isnt music. rap isnt music, its poetry to a beat and anyone who says otherwise knows nothing of music and its structure

I like Van Halen better, but still decent talent.

@stubs96 I'm young and I can't relate to most of today's music.
