I used to think Nico was a horrible singer. It must have been her deep voice and thick, Germanic accent that scared me into thinking that.
She's no spring chicken here, and yet she nails almost every note in this song (a capella, no less). She's even more in tune here than on the original (20 years earlier).
This was a big, fat slice of humble pie for me to digest.

because she always wanted to make serious music
and work for the music as itself and not for the show and popularity...
after she left the band she was free to develop herself
