I've read what James Cameron said about Alien 3, and while I agree that its not the best in the series, he sounds like an imature child when he complains about the characters that HE put into it getting killed off....
I think he forgot that there was an Alien movie before Aliens that was actually a lot different than his action-packed sequel. He wasn't exactly true to the first one with Aliens so he's really got no right to cry and complain about Alien 3.
Aliens will be de-grained OMG its going to look like total crap on bluray LOL not that I care to buying it. I’ve seen it many times projected and it looked fine which is why I and many fans around the time of 1986 saw it more than once and at special late night Alien double bill shows during early 1990’s.
Alien has been a way better cult classic than anything Bay has turned out. What are you comparing it to? The Island? Transformers(a series that is only successful due to many special effects explosions regardless of placement...and Megan Fox)? Chainsaw massacre?
I rather have a good script and storyline. And not only state of the art special affects like Transformers 2 Because that film sucks in my opinion. It got a lame cheesy script en the story is ....... well I'm not going to day it. And James cameron succeed their where Bay fails. And also with special effects is JC a pioneer.
James Cameron is brilliant with scriptwriting, originality, actors, and special effects. That is why his films are so good. You can't just concentrate on one aspect of a film and ignore the rest and expect the film to be good. Like Michael Bay who just concentrates on special effects in favour of acting and scriptwriting. His films have absolutely no soul or depth, they are just lots of noise. James Cameron is one of the few director's who can a big moneymaker but also make it a piece of art.
Well Cameron knows how to make a human story first. He makes you care about the characters and their situation. Something most action/sci-fi directors overlook. They think effects can replace dramatic character development. That's why Cameron's films DESTROY the "competition" when they are released. Here is an artist that thinks out every moment in his films so that every scene works at propelling the story forward. If the film needs effects he uses them wisely not gratuitously.
@mindstormsabrewin I agree with you on every point with every movie that he has made. Except for Avatar. That movie seemed completely about the effects with a very tested story slapped on with political message. T2 and Aliens were godly though.
i agree with you a hundred percent, special effects are not bad but there are nothing if the story doesnt stand on its own first. and cameron always made his stories just as amazing as the effects in his flims
Both james camron and michael bay have good movies they have different ways of making there movies michael bays movies r more about the action scenes and comdey thats in all his movies were james camrons movies r more about the details and the story line
@arherrington If you watch the video of that panel Peter Jackson, and Cameron were on at ComicCon 2009, you get to see a part where Cameron basically calls Bay a sellout.
If they teamed up together, I think it would end very, very badly
Bay has his moments...I don't watch him for anything 'heavy' or thougthful...but he knows how to blow stuff up well...and sometimes he really strikes gold in some scenes.
@SnarfBanks He's not even that. He's a douchebag tool of the studio who just happens to know a lot of sfx wizards.
Cameron is a genius because he can blend sfx with a great human story. Even when he's made cold films like True Lies, those are head, shoulder,s and ankles above half the stuff his contemporaries put out.
Director/filmmaker James Cameron said: "It's spectacular. We went in and completely de-noised it, de-grained it, up-rezzed, colour-corrected every frame and it looks amazing. It looks better that it looked in the theatres originally.
Because it was shot on a high-speed negative that was a new negative that didn't pan out too well and got replaced the following year. So it's pretty grainy. We got rid of all the grain. It's sharper and clearer and more beautiful than it's ever looked. And we did that to the long version, to the 'director's cut' or the extended play."
Well that’s just the kiss of death for “Aliens” on bluray epic fail and as for the colourist on Avatar who left a poor tail, tail sign in colour balance that turned me right of the film after 2 minutes running. I can only expect the bluray to be plugged with colour issues, that you would never see projected in cinema, never!

Well said, sir/madam, well said.
The hater can say what they want about Avatar, but it's light years above anything that Bay has turned out.

Michael Bay isn't a filmmaker, he's a special effects wizard.
