Even though i'm a Newcastle fan I agree entirely. I'm from Sheffield but I was raised a Newcastle fan cos of my family. When you're a kid and you start get given stuff by your family you think it must be good, so I always thought Newcastle must be good (how wrong I was!) and so was happy to follow them. I now travel 250 miles up and back every fortnight, but I imagine some people think I should support a local team. Not a chance.
Best of luck to 'Pool next season. Hope Carroll does well.

I am 42 and grew up in a village in Kent. We didn't have any local teams (Maidstone Utd - got turned into Texas DIY) and when we were at primary school at age 5 or 6 you did either choose Man Utd or Liverpool.
Back then, you only ever saw footie on 'The Big Match', 'Match of the Day' or FA Cup Final day. Most football chat at school was done in Panini Football '77 stickers. My God I'm having a flashback to the day I opened the 5p packet and got the golden Liverpool badge sticker in it. Sigh.
I support Liverman hahaha hahaha i just fell off my fucking chair when he said that, I need tissues. The only people who would say that are Arsenal supporters who are the shittest in the world when they give up on arsenal and decide to follow another team.
Liverpool was the first game I watched when I was 5 years old, ever since then I have followed them and supported them 100%, through the good and the bad.
Live in Wolves but my Moms a scouser. Dad has forever tried to change me into a Wolves fan but its not happening, I go to home games to keep him happy though. :)
he Dunc u prob remember my name u reffered to me at the begining of the vid i can see wer you're coming from I work in the Liverpool shop in anfield and i dont think ive heard one scouse customer all foreigners and that just shows how much of a world wide club we are
@JonnyJonesLFC yeh makes sense mate... I think a lot of people who are maybe not from Liverpool also feel the need to show their colours opposed to local supporters maybe? Dunno. Could be wrong :)
good video with some good points, but i don't think your going to change my mind. i'm a united fan and no way is somebody from out Britain who doesn't even go games as passionate as people who do go.
@JoshMufc101 Why aren't they? So if this season I go to every home game and next season I don't go, then this season I'm passionate but next season I'm not? That doesn't wash with me mate. Thanks for the comment tho.
no i don't mean on a season basis. if you go all home games in any season your a fan, not matter if you don't go any the next season. i'm talking about the people who have never been a game, i'm not saying they are not fans but i just don't see them as big of fans as people who do. obviously if you can't afford to go it's a different matter but how many people can't afford £25 or however much Liverpool games are every couple of months, not many people.
@JoshMufc101 You have to remember that those who cannot get to games also support clubs financially by other means and not just merchandise. Subscriptions to club websites for example. A dad taking his mrs and 2 kids will probably pay around £150 for the tickets. Then there's travelling, time off work, food, drinks, programmes and that's before we look at the money that parents spend on their kids to have the latest kits. All fans are equal in my eyes as long as the heart is there :)
Australian living in japan here. I work night shifts in a night club and expressed to my boss how much I love Liverpool so he's allowed me to watch the games while I'm at work, hell yeahh
I got a Michael Owen # 18 shirt back in 1997 just before I was off to training camp. I was six years old and really Liverpool was the first team I ever knew a player in, and the only team I ever cared to ask about. Of course, I support my local team, it would be a shame if I didn't (I live in Örebro, Sweden). But at the end of the day nothing is better when it comes to football then when Liverpool is playing a great game.
I'm from the UK (Northampton), currently living in Australia. Every game I'm up at either half past midnight or 2-3am to watch the games. My whole family's from Liverpool, and so I've pretty much been brought up with it. I'll always support Liverpool, and I'm just as passionate as anyone living there etc. Off to the pub to watch the game tonight 12:30am here! work's gonna be fun tomorrow!
@tombolaman123 as an australian liverpool supporter i share your pain with the time difference. the people who record the games to watch it later without wanting to know the scores from the media/public are just chronic wankers. the true australian LFC supporters are nocturnal. YNWA
Im from Malaysia. Im currently 21 years old. I started supporting Liverpool since i was 5, mainly because at the time, there was a match on TV and i heard singing in the crowd. I was enchanted by that singing and that chant. I looked at the team, and saw what passion and love they had. Ive had bad times and wonderful times with Liverpool,, even contemplated supporting some other club, but i couldnt. my heart is too embed into Liverpool YNWA Dunc, great work mate.
I started supporting Liverpool around the time I was 10 because I loved red and my family were Celtic fans and always said Liverpool were there favourite English club. I'm 20 now and as a present for my 21st I'm going to Anfield for the first time next month and I can't wait! Getting the train from Glasgow on the Friday, hopefully watch us pump Birmingham on the Saturday and head home on the Saturday. As you say Dunc, when you're a child you support who ever you hear about most, and in my case
Born in Belfast Northern Ireland. If you go right down my family on my mothers side you will see red right down the line. That does not mean I was pressured into it. As a kid born in 87 it was not down to any glory but the wonder of watching LFC players on VHS down the years (my granda taped games when in the pub). Rush and Fowler was all I got on the back of my shirt. I knew nothing about football back then. Every friend I knew Supported Utd. I'm over the moon LFC just opened a academy here.
I live near birmingham and most of my family support either wolves, WBA, Birmingham or villa. apart from my dad and my older brother who brought me up to be a Liverpool supporter. I have only been to anfield once but I'm only 13 and my family just don't have the money. but hey, like you said, you don't need to go to every single match to prove you're a true fan. YNWA.
This is a Fantastic Video!! I am from Ireland, I support Liverpool because my father supported them, I remember being 8 and my child minder took me to a sport shop for my birthday and the owner gave me a Liverpool badge pendent, that moment I felt so much joy and wore that badge for years!! I understand the argument about the local team..but I like to think Liverpool took myself and others into their world..their family and gave us happiness and memories that will never end.
as long as you support only 1 team and not even THINK of supporting another team then there should be no troubles. The peope who are like "if you don't support ur local team you are gay and don't know anything about football" ARE IDIOTS! Ignore them types of people. Reds for life!
I hate people like that mate. I was a Liverpool supporter, before I knew anything about Football (as my brother is a Liverpool fan)...and in the end I grew into a Liverpool FAN! I love Liverpool FC and would be nothing without it. Means everything to me, and I will always be a proud and passionate Liverpool fan, wether scousers like it or not ;).
I'm from Jamaica and my two biggest passions in football were both from my childhood. In 1986 when I was 6 - Germany and in 1987 - LFC. LFC specifically because John Barnes played for LFC. Jamaican and talented. I am a diehard German and LFC fan to this day and forever. I am told all kinds of things every time, i'm not a true fan and blah blah. Those people I ignore, because I have no one can tell me that my pride and love of my teams is not as good as theirs or is not valid.
My "local team" situation is complicated. I was born in Ukraine, Kiyv and moved to a different country when I was 2. Dinamo Kiyv never felt close to me because I didn't remember anything from Kiyv. And where I live now I don't connect locally in ANY espect- football included (which is a pathetic excuse for racism here). I always liked Liverpool the city (and England in general) and that's what brought me to the club and I think it's needless to say what kept me...
same story here no brothers. my old man wasnt into football. started supporting manu at bout 8, in school we thought we could just sign up to play for manu! innocent times haha
Born and bred in Liverpool. My dad took me to Anfield for the first time when I was about 6, and I remember me and my dad walking up the stairs out into the Kop, and I actually started crying, I'd never seen a place of such beauty, so many flags, so much joy in my life. I still to this day get a shot of adrenaline every time I walk up those steps of the Kop or walking to the ground. My passion is second to non, just like my club. YNWA.
I started supporting LFC because of John Barnes. He was the only black player I liked at the time so I followed Liverpool because he played for them. And I still support the Reds to this day.
I'm from Edinburgh and I support Liverpool cause the teams aren't great round hear although I have picked a local club and that is Hibernian but I have an uncle and aunt from there and I was always facsinatod by the history and well I just love Liverpool FC through and through thanks for the vid mate put a smile on my facele
I live in Australia and i support Liverpool, when i was growing up my dad was a Liverpool fan and in his office he had a little LFC strip and i would play with it and being young it just sticks with you. And as i got older and learnt more about the history of this great club i fell in love with Liverpool.
Well said duncan, i live in Dorset, my grandad was from liverpool and i used to sit in the kitchen listening to the game's with me grandad back in the 80's, all my mate's were liverpool fan's, i was a small kid and you dont know any different just because im from the south doesnt mean i love liverpool any less.
I support liverpool because its a team that helps its fans, and has loyal fans, im from warrington, so i don't live far away from liverpool. But the main reason i support liverpool is because it brought me closer to my dad, so now i can relate to more stuff with him :D Good Vid Dunk mate
What people need to understand is people that support there team from miles away still spend money on "there" team that all goes into the pot. Man Utd have millions of fans because they better then any other club on the planet understand peoples money is all the same, wether its a man from down the road or a man in a tree in rwanda, there money all helps build and maintain the team. So before you tell the "outsiders" to go do one, think of all the money "your" team gets from them
dunk you dont need to explain why you support liverpool theese twats who say you cant support liverpool becuase ur not from liverpool are fucking brain dead liverpool football club what not be what it is today if it didnt have supporters from outside of liverpool well if we cant support liverpool becuase were not from liverpool then we cant have players from all over the world playing for the club either do u know what i say to numptys like that " fuck off back in your box you fucking knobhead"
I hate it when i get called an armchair supporter because i support a team were im not from. What about the players? suarez int from liverpool he can play for them? why cant it be the same for fans?
this is a great video because im not from Manchester but ever since i can remember its always been United my dad has always supported so i didnt really have a choice i got bought all United gear, all through school i had it but i dont care what anyone says i always look out for my local team and go to their games when i can but ive always said it if i got the same feeling watching my local team as i do united id support them but i dont and i have a passion for United i say each to their own
To be honest when I was young I didn't like the idea of any Liverpool fans being outside of Liverpool. But as you get older you realise that people should be free to support whoever they like its not a crime, it just a game of football at the end of the day. Another big point is that Liverpool could never be a BIG club if all our fans where just from Liverpool, we simply would not have enough support to compete with other big clubs. This is the way modern football is.
Good for you Dunk. There is probably more liverpool supporters outside of liverpool than in liverpool. and i am glad you are a liverpool supporter because you represent the embodiment of what a true Kopite is.
I also get this alot , im from Wigan and people who i know feel the need to call me a glory supporter or a fake fan for not going to every single match Liverpool play , they seem to forget how hard it can be to get tickets for matches and how much it costs i just tend to ignore them. I always go and watch them when they play here because as you say Dunk ,' I can :)'
Even though i'm a Newcastle fan I agree entirely. I'm from Sheffield but I was raised a Newcastle fan cos of my family.

GOD BLESS MAN.
