Fact is, even Ricer cars take one hell of a wad of cash, if you want to make it go fast. The issue here is that many of the kids these days are using Civics, Accords, and Lancers because that's all they can afford. Then they go out and buy an exhaust kit and a bunch of stickers, and talk trash to anyone with a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge/Chrysler.

pretty sure civics and supras have 4 cylinders while this chevelle seems to have about 8 cylinders. i'm not a physicist, but it would seem that twice as many cylinders should produce a higher horsepower to weight ratio, and as for the whole weight of the car issue, the supra does not weigh half as much as the chevelle, so i conclude that the chevelle wins. (and a V-8 just sounds like a beast, while a 4 cylinder sounds like lawn tools)
@MHSRULES12 Supra’s have inline 6’s. Maybe you already knew and that was a typo? And there is no doubt the chevelle has a V8. 95% of muscle cars have V8’s. Occasionally somebody will build an old I6 or something, but almost always its gonna be a V8, cause that’s what God intended! Lol

@alvarezah Im 38 years old and never in my life have I needed to "drift" anything on any type of highway to win a race. On the other hand, I can do figure 8's and donuts around poles in parking lots better than any imports have tried yet. Ive been doing so-called drifting in muscle for years. Its always funny how people think their Supras and Skylines that are tuned out to their absolute max at 1200hp think that makes tuners better than a V8. In reality they either no nothing about motors or are ignorant to the fact that for many V8's, 1200hp is nowhere close to it's max. I have a friend that dumped 60,000 into a supra and has 1045whp, but Z06 or viper can easily get that with a twin turbo kit. 99% of the time more displacement=more potential horsepower!
I am not going to lie, there are some crazy imports. But, in the end American Muscle wins in my opinion. Like I said, motors aren't made like they used to be. Granted, there are still great American sport cars these days. But, you can't beat a REAL motor from the 60s and 70s when you flipped up the hood and all you saw was motor and battery. That's a real motor, that runs with no limitations. Those could take a beating and last.

American car makers try to fight that fact by putting large motors in there cars to attract people. Imports don't pay works alot.

I agree mostly what you are saying. What I was saying was, when a tuner or ricer realizes he has no argument against you, he throws the highway and city MPG he gets in his car at you. Overall that has nothing to do with racing. As long as you get a respectible MPG for your car, then you will be fine in an endurance race. My car is a 6.6 liter V8 400. I have it to where it gets 14 MPG with some of my mods. Endurance races still don't TRULY show which car is faster.

Well Muscle is cheap to make fast actually. I threw like a few hundred dollars into my car with very simple mods that took no time at all and got a major difference. I removed all that emissions crap and threw an exhaust system on the car. Major difference on an already powerful motor.
Newer cars are the hardest to mod imo. Computers, limitations, etc.

The issue here is that many of the kids these days are using Civics, Accords, and Lancers because that's all they can afford. Then they go out and buy an exhaust kit and a bunch of stickers, and talk trash to anyone with a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge/Chrysler.

pretty sure civics and supras have 4 cylinders while this chevelle seems to have about 8 cylinders. i'm not a physicist, but it would seem that twice as many cylinders should produce a higher horsepower to weight ratio, and as for the whole weight of the car issue, the supra does not weigh half as much as the chevelle, so i conclude that the chevelle wins. (and a V-8 just sounds like a beast, while a 4 cylinder sounds like lawn tools)

Its always funny how people think their Supras and Skylines that are tuned out to their absolute max at 1200hp think that makes tuners better than a V8. In reality they either no nothing about motors or are ignorant to the fact that for many V8's, 1200hp is nowhere close to it's max. I have a friend that dumped 60,000 into a supra and has 1045whp, but Z06 or viper can easily get that with a twin turbo kit. 99% of the time more displacement=more potential horsepower!

I am not going to lie, there are some crazy imports. But, in the end American Muscle wins in my opinion. Like I said, motors aren't made like they used to be. Granted, there are still great American sport cars these days. But, you can't beat a REAL motor from the 60s and 70s when you flipped up the hood and all you saw was motor and battery. That's a real motor, that runs with no limitations. Those could take a beating and last.

Okay lets look at this in a logical manor. US cars are made in the US. They pay these works like 15-25 Dollors an hour. This means that they are spending a lot of money on paying people. How do you make money when paying people this much you might ask. The answer is that the quality of the materials and the planning of the vehicle go down. American car makers try to fight that fact by putting large motors in there cars to attract people. Imports don't pay works alot.

Overall that has nothing to do with racing. As long as you get a respectible MPG for your car, then you will be fine in an endurance race. My car is a 6.6 liter V8 400. I have it to where it gets 14 MPG with some of my mods. Endurance races still don't TRULY show which car is faster.

all a muscle car is good for is straight lines dont get me wrong there is sum sexy muscle out dare but take it to a track against an evo, scooby skyline etc it wont keep up around the corners.

depends what car... the zr1 already out performed the new skyline in a straight line and through cornering... not sure what the video is called but look it up on here

Dude that is the typical assumption, but in essence it's not the truth. Performance cars are made to handle well, especially Muscle. In the end it comes down to the driver and the car that fits them.

Ricers are cheap to make fast, but you don't get the respect in a ricer that you get in a old muscle car. It don't matter what you drive, as long as you can back your shit up.

Well Muscle is cheap to make fast actually. I threw like a few hundred dollars into my car with very simple mods that took no time at all and got a major difference. I removed all that emissions crap and threw an exhaust system on the car. Major difference on an already powerful motor.
Newer cars are the hardest to mod imo. Computers, limitations, etc.
