In the final Senate vote 06-28-2007 resulting in the defeat of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate Sam Brownback voted "aye", continuing his preannounced support of the bill. During a fifteen minute span, as allowed under Senate rules, the Kansas Senator noticed the legislation was being voted down and changed his vote to "no".
This is case-in-point. Americans want a consistent leader who will get us out of Iraq efficiently. We have unfinished business to take are of, yes, but we can't just pull out immediately like the democrats argue. We have to make a timeline; we have to hold the Iraqi government accountable for their progress. So how does this happen?
First of all, I think Brownback is about as dumb as they come. BUT! This "flip-floping is bad" notion is fucking bullshit. The guy went and learned something and it changed his mind. That's called processing information. It's called thinking. It's good! I hated this shit during the Kerry campaign and I hate it now. A robot can stick to its guns.
I don't like the "we have to be together here to win over there" response b/c I feel like it stamps out dissent and open discussion. I feel that dissent is healthy and necessary in a free and open democracy. (feel free to have a dissenting view on that commen!)
Why doesn't Senator Brownback talk about his pathetic 'International Romance Regulation Act'? This Brownback cosponsored FACIST law makes it a felony for law-abiding American citizens to communicate with foreigners. How absurd! Brownback's law is one of the most DRACONIAN, UNCONSTITUTIONAL laws is United States history. Our brave soldiers are risking their lives for our FREEDOM, but Senator Brownback has taken our FREEDOM away. :(
Brownback is not a bad guy, but in the end he is a politician and will say what he thinks you want to hear and in the style you want to hear it. He is likely more principled than President Bush, but if you ask me I think RON PAUL is the most principled in this barrel of monkeys.
Thats not a flip-flop. He said is deision was based on the military commanders approval of the surge, and after he found out that the commanders disapproved, so did he. Makes sense.
Brownback's a psycho, but it will be fun to watch him and Romney beat eachother over the head during the primaries as they fight it out to prove which one hates gays more!
I agree, this was not a flip-flop. He honestly changed his mind based on the will of commanders in Iraq. Brownback said he supported the decisions of the commanding officers and they didn't want a surge, so he backed their decision.
Your title is misleading. He honestly says he changed his position for what are very credible and reasonable reasons. He interviewed the leaders of all three factions in Iraq...plus local miliatary leaders in Iraq from ourside. He was clearly not speaking from first hand knowledge in the first video...so I think your presentation makes a 'flawed' point.
johninves, I like all the facts youb acked up your pointless insults with ;)

This guy is so full of shit it is leaking out of his ears.
This flip flopping, bible-thumping piece of shit is a piece of garbage and anyone who supports him is as pathetic as he is.

Wow, yeah this title is totally misleading and one-sided, Brownback is so honest and genuine. We need a guy like him to help us understand freedom.

I agree with the previous posters; it is not a "flip-flop" to change your mind when you learn more about a situation.
Also, Brownback does not "hate gays." Too many people equate taking a moral stance with intolerance.
