One need not be of any particular religion to appreciate the beauty of the song and the absolute grace with which the singers sing it. Everyone seems so stuck on the fact that this song is a Christian one, but few ever consider that the meaning of the song is love, the love of a man, who, God or human, so loved the world that He gave His life with the intent to bring peace and redemption to all who dwell in it. It is this beautiful love that transcends religion (or lack of it) to all humans.
