Petula certain brought this home...she took this song got it to heaven and back...twice....WOW....and she had you hanging on until the end. Not a whole lot of singers can do that with a song like this. Did I say WOW.....WOW...what can you say?
I have only heard Petula sing on the CD of Blood Brothers. I have seen the show 5 times with different actresses, most recently Nikki Evans (the best so far) but I would love to have seen Petula on Broadway

yes! I saw Blood Brothers on Broadway too, and I remember thinking I wasn't going to like it and the only reason I was there was because my friend wanted to see. I must say I have never had a play make me sob as this one did when she finished this song! We had front row seats and you could see the REAL pain in her face. Very powerful moment. I have seen many many plays on broadway (as well as other venues) and this moment sticks out most in my mind.

I had the privilege of seeing Petula Clark, David Cassidy and Shaun Cassidy in Blood Brothers several years ago. It was a wonderful performance.

I saw her perform this song in the Broadway production of BLOOD BROTHERS; by the time she was done the entire theatre full of people was sobbing.

She shows in this video that such a performance can be emotionally exhausting and may require a short de-brief before proceeding further. Wonderful.

Petula says, when she sings it she sees her own son lying before her. That's real emotion there. So powerful. It never fails to break your heart.
