can you go from clean to distortion with just using your foot or do you always have to switch that button there with your hands? and if not, what distortion pedal goes best with it: big muff or boss ds 1?
Hey mate, great demo... i think your "clean" sounds are pretty clean, but I've read a little about some dirt even in the clean setting... have you ever heard with at some setup?
@maxbouvrie no they are not... that about put me at my breaking point of misinformation on the internet.
luckily for you. i decided to go ahead and tell you the truth--- that you are wrong. because, for a while there, i was contemplating letting you go on spouting off misinformation on the internet, just so i could feel comfortable being superior to every stranger you might spout off wrong info to. tard.
That's what it looks like. From what I have seen, you can set the distortion side to 'clean' so it looks like you can bypass it. You may want to double check it though :)
I have this pedal. Its a nice pedal, but the Holygrail has a better reverb sound, and my main complaint about the holy stain is there is no control to adjust the amount of fuzz/distortion.
I have the pedal as well and used it primarily for the reverb and tremelo. Last night after rehearsal I played around with the overdrive setting and I am now sold on it. Its true that you don't have a distortion level on the pedal, but it can be controlled very well via your guitar volume. I plan on leaving it on overdrive and then toning down the volume for my clean stuff and then swelling in the overdrive for the dirty stuff.
i have the holy grail and i find it pretty useless. the only times it sounds unique is when its put to higher reverb settings, and even then, the cound collapses on each other dont ya think??? ive got a cube 60 n the reverb in that is better..
i don't even have any of those pedals anymore. my pedalboard never stops changing. i have the holy stain still ... but it's not on my board. i sold the reissue DMM and got a vintage one.

Would you say the Holy Stain is good for shoegazer style stuff?

can you combine the effects?
such as reverb + tremolo?
or reverb + pitch shift?
because i want to use this for surf sounds but if i can't combine tremolo and reverb it is pointless :(

what are you using to power it? i just got one but it didnt come with a power supply, what should i use?
MatthewJohn19 2 years ago
you could try the visual sound one-spot. i use it with my ehx big muff... look for it on ebay, and buy the one-spot ehx connector plug to go along.
succinctbeats 2 years ago
look in the instructions. or simply right on the pedal it probably says what to use. underpowering/overpowering a pedal can really mess it up.

@MatthewJohn19
any 9v power supply just make sure the polarity isnt reversed.

Thanks for this video. What you are playing is what I really wanted sampled, and the "pros" barely covered the reverb. Thanks homie :)

Can you use the tremolo and Fuzz and Reverb without the distortion and run the distortion trough your amp?
DuelistDx 3 years ago
yeah dude, it's split into 2 circuits so you can keep one on and one off or mix the two.

With a expression pedal, we can control the tremolo speed??
