  • He was and still is a winner. Some guys just know how to win. He is one of them.He could have started on any NBA team. Kraeem, Magic, Bird, Jordan, Wilt. are my starters. Russell,Kobe,Dr.J,Dirk,Jerry West is my bench. Ill take on any team in history.

  • Overrated ball hogging scrub

  • @woodyfly You trippin'. Top 5 greatest BBall player ever!

  • @woodyfly Ball hog? If Magic or The Big O dishes him the ball, he's going to skyhook it in. How is that ballhogging? Also, 6 championships and 6 MVPs.

  • Why are they wearing skirts?

  • impossible to block him

  • Whats with them dumbass glasses. I can't take any yank sport seriously.

  • @lankyj91 Protective goggles that were used in the 80s to prevent him from getting poked in the eye again (which happened to him and almost required surgery). You don't need to take our sports seriously... Feel free to watch other videos...

  • @goten1214 An eye poke? Oh no! Serious man, NFL and Basketball...watch Rugby if you wanna see real men play sport. No goggles, no padding, just shirts and shorts, and they get battered and get straight back up.

  • @lankyj91 If you get off on watching men in shorts and shirts battling it out in the mud, all the power to you. Some of us prefer classy sports, and leave the mud fighting for chicks in bikinis.

  • @eskostar Classy sports? All i can see is another case of incredibly overpaid athletes.

  • @lankyj91 your a gay faggot why do you look up videos like this if your just going to hate on them and the sport their playing? go look up old famous rugby players which i cant name one because rugby is the stupidest most unwatched sport in the world so shut up

  • @EliminateTheHQ MMM TROLL HUNGRY, FEED TROLL

  • @EliminateTheHQ "go look up old famous rugby players which i cant name one because rugby is the stupidest most unwatched sport in the world " how fucking old are you? 13?

  • @eskostar actually NFL players aren't chicks in bikinis. admit it you like buff men to mud fight as well.

  • @lankyj91 I know rugby is a tough sport. They wear padding and helmets too. But I assure you that if one of them got poked in the eye and a doctor told them that if it happens again they might lose vision, they'd wear protection for their eyes too. Kareem is one of very few who have had to do that. Look at every NBA player today and none of them have them. NBA players play with broken feet, torn hand tendons, and others just as rugby players play with injuries. All sports do at that level...

  • @goten1214 Firstly rugby players do not play with helmets. Darren lockyer. A rugby league legend in Australia, played with a broken eye socket before and after surgery. He risked blindness, but continued to play.

  • @lankyj91 When a doctor tells you that the next poke in your eye might lead to blindness, I'm pretty sure every rugby player would wear goggles too. Horace Grant wore them too, same with Amare Stoudamire. Amare had a very serious eye injury while in Phoenix.

  • he makes it look soooo easy

  • this is what so many teams are missing like maimi heat, unc tarheels, nets, etc. this is nba basketball.

  • Jrylaarsdam, this is a great video. My boyfriend was trying to explain Kareem's sky hook to me. Your clip shows it all. Great editing. Thanks so much for your efforts.

  • that form is down to PERFECTION.

  • Kareem's Sky Hook: Unstoppable. I would like to see Bynum and Gasol implement the Sky Hook in their game.

  • See this is why I hate basketball. There is only like one person who does any scoring on any team ever.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 yeah, one person at a time scores, just like every other sport.

  • @glovethief30 Yeah that is what I meant. Idiot.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 You're the most fucking illiterate person I've ever seen. The only fucking sport you mentioned basketball.

  • @masteroftheblaster1 Jesus christ all mighty.

  • Look at Moses Malone's arms at 1:39 and look at Dwight Howard now, it's night in day in the way today's athletes are stronger and more conditioned. Howard would probably avg 20+ rebounds against those guys.

  • This video could be titled "Robert Parish getting Owned"

  • Manute Bol coudnt even block him

  • At 2:20 when Wilt anticipates it, falls back, and STILL can't block it.

  • @marshallrayhunt Wilt at the end of his career could block Kareem's skyhook but not always , remeber Wilt played only one game against Kareem after which he injured his knee and could never jump high as he did before that , nor he was mobile as he was .

  • @marshallrayhunt Yes he missed that one, but he also blocked the shot on many other occasions, and was probably the only center to block that shot on multiple occasions during a game. Still, kareem's hook was one of the most magnificent offensive weapons in the history of basketball.

  • I almost get mad when he shoots it over Manute Bol. Like he's using hacks or something.

  • I wonder if Yao Ming or maybe Dwight Howard can block it...

  • @123Videoei

Considering that one of the guys he keeps abusing in this video was 7'7" with an 8'6" wingspan, I highly doubt Yao could block it. Let alone Dwight.

  • i cant stop laughing this is the best thing i have ever seen

  • if javale mcgee can develop this he will be beast. has almost the same length and body like kareem. the most unstoppable move in nba history.. the sky hook

  • @Ianppines11 That kid Mcgee has so much talent. A guy that big, long, and athletic is unreal.

  • The only way to stop the sky hook is to double team before the dribble, and even that's not a guaranteed stop. Unbelievable.

  • He doesn't jump high enough to jump, he jumps high enough to do that shot. If you look at the video he could have easily dunked every time

  • Why don't people use that shot anymore?

  • i bet he can make it 99 out of 100 times

  • Comment removed

  • Its so beast

  • Comment removed

  • 6 people got sky hooked by kareem

  • In those short shorts all players look tall :D

  • i didnt notice any left handed hook shots...

  • If Magic was getting credited for an assist for all of the skyhooks Kareem made, good god. Easiest assist ever.

  • kinda similar with Dirk's move he just push himself back with normal shot

  • *swat

  • yeah well back then its all isolation, and that was really slow gonna get swapped all over the court if its now

  • why don't players now work on the hooks like dwight howard

  • @ishah4787 probably because dunking is a lot more entertaining

  • that's just not fair

  • Skyhook is amazing

  • I play bball. The hook shot LOOKS super easy, but to get it "nuthin' but net" style like that is super hard. It takes some great hand-to-eye coordination. Granted, he was paid millions to do it (and he did), so there was certainly a routine, as is displayed here. lol

  • @samsamba08 Was it millions back then? Maybe one or two at most three

  • "The dunk was banned in college basketball after the 1967 season, primarily because of Alcindor's dominant use of the shot. It was not allowed again until 1976"............a rule of the game have change for a dominant player.. a ground to be considered as the greatest player of all time =)

  • The trick to this is decently long arms and a lot of arm strength based in one arm

  • This is so damn unfair lol...once the ball leaves his hand its on its way down so you're not even allowed to block it...you would have to block it while its still in his hand and good luck with that shit smh....If I was a center, this would be the move I practice every day of my life

  • Hard to believe he made that shot over 20,000 times. da.. da da dunt da dunt da dunt... can't touch this.

  • i guess this is what you call "a go to move" lol

  • @saM9881000 dude this guy was 7'2

  • it would be amazing if kareem did that from the 3 point line:P hahaha

  • hahhahah Their was this Black guy in 1997 he used to play basketball, he was skinny about 6,2 tall!, I swear to god! I think i Was around like 12, and he was 20, he used to do that hook shot against all these biggest basketball players! he was like kareem! flawless, he always made it in hahaha

  • AMAZING HOW EASY THIS GUY COULD SCORE!

  • This and Nowitzki's fade could turn any big man into an unstoppable low post monster

  • @jupskids hakeem dream shake + kareem skyhook + dirk fade + JaVale McGee = unstoppable

  • You know if any center in the nba in this day and age good shoot this hook itd be sick like imagine dwight howard just learning how to do the sky hook itd be crazy idk why and nba players dont shoot this shot its so dominate

  • Nigahiga sent me

  • fell a bit bad for Parish must be frustrating

  • Did he even shot any other shots than the hook?

  • @majerlet yea they banned dunking in colleges for 9 years because of him

  • that's a cheat code:)

  • Larry Nance and Bill Willoughby managed to block his skyhook .

  • the only person who can stop that is himself!

  • @LowGradeGame no actually wilt stoped it....twice

  • 20 years later we will watch and remember Nowitzki like this.

  • This video should be titled "Hall of Fame Centers Getting Schooled by Kareem"

  • great compilation. surprisingly entertaining watching the same shot over and over again. Any one know Kareems career stats?

  • 2:18 Wilt Chamberlain couldn't even block that shit. Game over, man. Game over.

  • @SashaNein /watch?v=IYq4CWeWaKg&feature=related This shot is truly unblockable UNLESS you happen to be Wilt Chamberlain lol. In one of the early 70's (I think '72) LA vs Bucks playoff series Chamberlain blocked 23 skyhooks total, and something crazy like 7 or 8 in just one game. And that is 25 year old Jabbar vs 35 year old Chamberlain! This video is meant to make Jabbar look unblockable, of course they'll show Chamberlain miss the block lol, but in reality he COULD and DID block the skyhook!

  • He threw that shit right over The Chief! That's saying something.

  • lol, Nobody in NBA Can do that anymore.

  • 0:26 its a bad touch

  • you just can't defend that

  • Dear 1970s/1980s defenders: make Kareem go left!

  • Most un stopeble moce i am a gaurd and can use this move down low against centers and never get stopped

  • the three ppl that disliked this vid must be Bird, Mchale, and Parrish

  • but you can see in some parts, that there was no Defense back in the late 70s and early 80s, look at 1:35 :D

  • @blabliblublablo Don't be calling out Mighty Moses like that. Yeah that was pretty piss poor but it could of been he was in foul trouble not like 6'10 Malone was going to block 7'2 Kareem. Still Kareem's Skyhook was hard to stop and hell of difficult to block. Had to time it just right and have some ups. Kareem was a deadeye shooting a career 56 pct from the field and unlike Shaq, Kareem's skyhook was effective up to 18 ft. Lost art and the best offensive weapon the NBA has seen so far (38,387)

  • count on kareen to give you the easiest baskets in the NBA.......

  • It's not possible to block this shot. Even if you jump like Spud Webb.

  • llol hes not even trying

  • un fucking blockable

  • @masonkim7 /watch?v=IYq4CWeWaKg&feature=related ...Unless it's against Wilt Chamberlain

  • @masonkim7 Chamberlain blocked it. twice....

  • all hail the skyhook master

  • Oh i know why no one uses the skyhook, it doesnt look cool enough. Everyome wants crossovers and dunka these days.

  • Yup it was blocked but i forgot if it was bill russell who did it twice. It probably took a hi level of elevation or high jump to make it possible, or you can block it from behind or before it reaches high. But once it reaches high it's really very difficult to block.

  • @guts2k3 Bill Russel was already retired before Kareem entered the the league.

  • What in da world?? Great hook shooting , but do he EVER use his left hand??

  • THE TWO IDIOTS THATHIT THE DISLIKE OUTTA BE SLAPPED

  • @NasPublicEnemyfan89 Bill Simmons and Robert Parish.

  • @NasPublicEnemyfan89 watch?v=FDpyRptzacw

  • whos shot is more unstoppable this or MJs. I would say this.

  • The thing is the opponents knew the sky hook was coming and still they could do nothing about it. This probably was the most unstoppable shot in NBA history. Has anyone ever blocked it?

  • Kareem, please teach Brittney Griner this shot

  • a move that only he himself can do..

  • is it just me or does he practically get all his lift on the shot just from the flick of his wrist because it seems to me he fully straightens his elbow and then there is a pause before he releases, not in motion like a normal jumper. is this how i should practice my hook or what?....

  • when he was young and did the running skyhook.... indefensible! feel your body, run away from the contact, release high off the fingers

  • look how close OLD wilt is to getting it...and theirs video of him blocking it twice ina row...prime chamberlain in my opinion is the ONLY player besides russell who could have stopped it...wilt the only one with proof :P

  • virtually un-defendable

  • idiots why they dont just double team him

  • @gongxia649 he only puts the ball on the floor one dribble. in order to double team him you'd have to run a zone. back then you couldn't zone up. other big men get doubled because they don't make their move fast enough.

  • i do sky hook sometimes but i get block

  • poor Parish didn't know what to do anymore!!!!

  • why has nobody else made the skyhook his primary shot? he could win a few MVPs and rings you know..

  • would be much cooler if he always when he did it yelled: Skyhook!

  • hook hook hook hook hook hook hook hook hooker hook hook hook hook....

  • is he a power forward?

  • this is rare... i appreciate him even more because he is SKILL

  • 2 people are rob parish...

  • Notice the shot is never 'faked'. You know it's coming, In fact I watched this guy for many years and saw him fake it only once.

  • Comment removed

  • How you gon block that shit?

  • @FlySociety06 easy, just divide the whole act into 10 frames (jabbar uses only one moveset on this, very predictable) and by the second or third frame just slide toward the left because that's where his pivot will be, stretch the arm 45 degrees and not 90 degrees and that will stop or block it halfway. foolish defenders try to reach it from the sky...only wilt chamberlain managed to block it twice consecutively, and jordan once blocked it up there.

  • @corkystorky yes u are right,it's so easy to block it that almost none did it!u are also right that all those HOF(wilt,moses,hakeem,cowens,thurmond,reed,unseld,parish,ewing,gilmore....) that could n't stop it are so stupid and u are so smart!come on,trying to stop jabbar was almost as hard as stop mj,bird,wilt....it was almost impossible!

  • 0:40 for the manute

  • :40 if you can get it over a 7ft7 guy with an 8 foot 6 inch wingspan (and is the all time nba leader in blocked shots per minute played) you can get it over anyone!

  • seriously my dad takes this shot every time we play and its like impossible to block

  • MJ, KAJ, and Wilt are the all time greats.

  • oh and btw: kareem was a 19 time allstar...won the 1985 Finals Mvp at age 38!!!!! when does THAT happen anymore??????

  • 6 titles..6 mvps.. at least 3 Finals mvps...the SkyHook.. alltime leading scorer....VERY UNDERRATED when discussing the the greatest all time player....in my eyes hes No. 2 behind Jordan, all day... Russell is overrated.. when u play in an era when thers like 15 teams and Red Aurbach monopolizes all the talent.. of course ur gonna win all the titles...

  • wilt chamberlain blocked 20 shots in two consecutive games against the bucks in the 72 playoffs,11 of those against kareem (wilt was 35 years old at the time)

  • im a beast at basketball just had to put it out there

  • Kareem and Hakeem were the best centers because they were muslims. :-)

  • @dralger that's the stupidest shit I have ever heard

  • This is the toughest shot to defend in NBA history

  • 7'3 height and a sky hook LOL

  • chamberlain EPIC!! 2:22

  • Unstoppable!

  • lethal shot at every angle. . .

  • Robert Parish disliked this video

  • if chris bosh could of done this.

  • If howard ever was this smooth and mastered this laters to the entire NBA

  • 50% floater. 50% hook shot. 50% post-up move. 200% unstoppable.

  • @linuxblacksarena well said

  • O melhor pivo de toda a historio do basquete...

  • Maybe it's just me ---- but Kareem's sky hook look impossible to defend ?!?

  • @Hunkola Wilt Chamberlain was able to block it a couple of times

  • not using the backboard..just perfect.

  • The most dominating shot of all-time.

  • @the99drill

It is not true. Kareem used the left hand as well, but he shot then closer to the basket.

    Ciao

    Fer

  • I actually already use the hook shot in games but I only get it 40-50% of the time and I feel like i'd better pass the ball cuz the rebound is unlikely.

So the question is can i get it to 60-70% with 1 hour practice a week?

  • @KrutoyPostowoy

No. You need to work at least one hour a day, probably more, to do that.

Kareem's Skyhook was more than just a hook shot. He used his entire body in the Skyhook

  • Every monday I have a game. But dont have time to train except 1 hour on saturday.

Do you guys think it would make sense to practice this shot? I play center position. I mean just 1 hour practice a weak? Or do I better stick with layups and dribbling for this short practice time.

Can I get sufficiantly good with this shot? I never shoot outside the paint cuz I heard you need almost every day practice to be really efficient with it.

    Thanks.

  • with small shorts that look like short shorts, it makes u look so tall -_-

  • @Aerochalklate yes like spud webb.

  • Robert Parish has got to hate this video. How many times did that shot go over him just in these highlights?

  • @egr9613 Well, we got one disliker in this video, guess who LOL

  • @egr9613 as great of a player and guy that parish was in the league you got that right... nobody can defend that shot

  • @egr9613 what makes robert parish look stupid is that hey how many times it happened and he made no adjustments? come on, during practice he could have told mchale hey dude do the sky hook and let's figure out how to stop it. all that parish did here is raise his arm and blam that stupid d-up is useless against the sky hook. footwork is the key, he must slide towards the pivot direction of jabbar and steal the ball.

  • the sky hook is a beast of a shot invented by a beast of a player.

  • @TheDarkRaged It wasn't invented by him he just improved it George Mikan a former Laker made the shot look hi mup but he is very old too
