I have been a gamer for 20 years and have played hundreds of games on more than a dozen systems. Mass Effect 2 is the best game i have ever played. On its own it is awesome but with the character and world import from ME1 (which is also in my top 10) it is simply unmatched.
I know 11 makes no sense on a 1-10 scale but that is what i would give this game.
I sure hope they make some kind of spinoff after ME3 because that universe is way too awesome to not expand upon.
how is the interactive comic? does it explain the whole story of the first game? do you make choices in the comic that affect how the second game goes? please respond.
errr... I want the collectors edition of part 3, but this game was so buggy, is it worth 60 to begin with? I dont mind paying an extra 20 for the goodies, but 60 for the game?

@BlackJack525 it has a hand full of glitches but nothing game breaking. just some minor sound desyncs during a couple cut scenes. buy the game, you won't regret it. =]

@varunnarain50 because i started me1 about 5 times and only got 3 or 4 hours into it before something fucked up,either my computer broke,it kept on getting stuck on 1 place or i only played on 1 save and that save got fucked up..

One of the things I like about the PS3 that I don't like about the 360? No disk swapping!! Microsoft needs to upgrade their space capacity on their disks.
This is the best version of Mass Effect 2? Really? I would agree if you could play the first one as well. The interactive comic cannot replace an entire game. They don't even mention Feros and the geth, one of the main missions and the enemies you face the most. Best version it is not.
This game really deserves a 7.5/10. I played this on PC and it is incredibly frustrating. For starters, the cutscenes are sloppy and should have been more like ME2 character trailers. Second, the environmental bugs and AI is just as bad if not worse. Third, the story plot is the main focus yet the game's focus is entirely on assembling your team rather than the battles you share with them, which there are VERY FEW. And lastly, replay value is low. I completed everything in 3 days on Insanity...

I just bought this game and played for like 10 hours strait, its really great though its not my kinda game, i still really like it. One question, how do i upgrade my partners, im still lost on how to get them skill points.
@WackyFunkMunster easy, go to "squad" and then press R2 or L2 to switch out of shepards upgrade tree and go to theirs. they level up automaticly while in combat. build trust with your partners, and you can unlock new powers for them.
@WackyFunkMunster loyalty missions are (to my knowledge) assigned, though its likely you have to get to know the character you want to do the mission for. however, the "Zaeed" and "Kasumi" Loyalty missions are unlocked instantly apon obtaining the characters. Just so you know, you can unlock unique abilities (for instance, flash grenades from Kasumi) by doing loyalty missions, and then obtain them for your own use via moldrin's upgrade menu onward.
@WackyFunkMunster I need to make an edit to my previous statement. You obtain the missions AFTER the horizon abduction (first encounter with collectors). you do this when you obtain the first batch of crew members (Grunt, Moldrin, Garrus, Jack). Miranda and Jacob will have theirs open first. Be careful that once you do both jacks and Miranda's, the two will have a conflict that will either have you chose one of the two to side with, or use a paragon/renegade score to settle it neutrally.
@WackyFunkMunster no, but to RESOLVE it withtout choosing sides, you will have to have a high (as in the bar being 3/4's or completely full) bar to keep boths loyalty. also, if you have a relationship with a person (Romantic) and you go against them, whether or not you make up with them later, they will not continue the romantic relationship with you. only resolving the matter or siding with them will let you continue this objective.
rumor has it there's a hidden black hole gun in last mission at collector base if you use it it destroys the entire galaxy and resets the whole game . happy hunting
This males no sense. I don't care for X360 vs. PS3 wars at all, I own both. However I decided to buy it late on PS3 because it is more complete than 360 and has a new engine. Therefore ME2 is better on PS3, therefore the PS3 version deserves a 10 and 360 a 9. However they will be equal on ME3 and everyone can just STFU
@WackyFunkMunster let me put it to you this way: Bioware makes amazing games, and even though im not a huge story man, I still cared about the characters in DA:O. Im not saying that means you will care about the story, but if i know anything, this game is gonna be a blast....

I know I'd feel a deeper connection to the characters and the story of ME2 if I had played ME1, but I refuse to buy a 360 for one game and my laptop isn't exactly good for games.

I can already tell which characters im GONNA like, and which ones ill likely keep far away from me, but my favorite part is deffinitly the choice. You can either be a total a-hole or a complete suck up (go suckups:D) and the combat is fun, but i had a bad time with the adept so i switched to soldiers. yes, having ME would make you feel more connected, but not by much more.

@blissfullydead89 hmm...interesting. Mind if I ask how the engineer-esq abilities in this game work for you? This is my analysis of the soldier:
The soldier is essentially a MLG weapons master. they can specialize in any gun, and have access to each one after the tutorial mission. they also have access to each of the unique ammo types, meaning they can take on anyone with somewhat equal combat effectivness. they cant use eng or adept skills at all, and can only use 1 unique ability=bullet time
@blissfullydead89 I mean for the infiltraitor btw, the skills that the infiltraitor can use besides their weapon skills. I usually play as either a support (multiplayer) or a tank (singleplayer) in games. I was curious if the "support" skills of the infiltraitor (their hacking and disableing skills) worked well at all or if you just stick to sniping. you already know my view on the soldier...

@harristhesecondcomin when it first came out it was an xbox only game, but sony wanted in on the action so they jumped in to the rights for the second and thrid, but mass effect 1 is still an xbox only game, thats why ps3 lovers can not play the first one, so in the end Mass Effect 1 for xbox, and Mass effect 2 &3 are for xbox, ps3, and pc, and yes it is really confusing going over the legal documents.

is the downloadable content worth the investment? I bought a second hand copy for £10 without dlc.I can see this will take about 40-50 hours of my life without dlc..... not sure if i need to invest.

@awesomepossum58 depends, ps3 only users will not have the same impact in ME as other users that have invested 60+ hours on ME1 on there story. overall as a stand alone game its very solid, a good LONG budget buy. but in 2011 there are tons of options no matter what console you prefer.

You obtain the missions AFTER the horizon abduction (first encounter with collectors). you do this when you obtain the first batch of crew members (Grunt, Moldrin, Garrus, Jack). Miranda and Jacob will have theirs open first. Be careful that once you do both jacks and Miranda's, the two will have a conflict that will either have you chose one of the two to side with, or use a paragon/renegade score to settle it neutrally.

@WackyFunkMunster no, but to RESOLVE it withtout choosing sides, you will have to have a high (as in the bar being 3/4's or completely full) bar to keep boths loyalty. also, if you have a relationship with a person (Romantic) and you go against them, whether or not you make up with them later, they will not continue the romantic relationship with you. only resolving the matter or siding with them will let you continue this objective.

@robloxfan459 To say that I truly cared about all of my party members in DA:O is an understatement and I think that's why I have a hard time with ME2. I know I'd feel a deeper connection to the characters and the story of ME2 if I had played ME1, but I refuse to buy a 360 for one game and my laptop isn't exactly good for games.

I can already tell which characters im GONNA like, and which ones ill likely keep far away from me, but my favorite part is deffinitly the choice. You can either be a total a-hole or a complete suck up (go suckups:D) and the combat is fun, but i had a bad time with the adept so i switched to soldiers. yes, having ME would make you feel more connected, but not by much more.

@blissfullydead89 hmm...interesting. Mind if I ask how the engineer-esq abilities in this game work for you? This is my analysis of the soldier:
The soldier is essentially a MLG weapons master. they can specialize in any gun, and have access to each one after the tutorial mission. they also have access to each of the unique ammo types, meaning they can take on anyone with somewhat equal combat effectivness. they cant use eng or adept skills at all, and can only use 1 unique ability=bullet time

I usually play as either a support (multiplayer) or a tank (singleplayer) in games. I was curious if the "support" skills of the infiltraitor (their hacking and disableing skills) worked well at all or if you just stick to sniping. you already know my view on the soldier...

@harristhesecondcomin when it first came out it was an xbox only game, but sony wanted in on the action so they jumped in to the rights for the second and thrid, but mass effect 1 is still an xbox only game, thats why ps3 lovers can not play the first one, so in the end Mass Effect 1 for xbox, and Mass effect 2 &3 are for xbox, ps3, and pc, and yes it is really confusing going over the legal documents.

@awesomepossum58 depends, ps3 only users will not have the same impact in ME as other users that have invested 60+ hours on ME1 on there story. overall as a stand alone game its very solid, a good LONG budget buy. but in 2011 there are tons of options no matter what console you prefer.
