I don't know this model you mention, but a Squier stratocaster was my first guitar. Pretty decent to start and even do more serious things. However, it can't be compared to a real Fender USA.

woaaaaah i have a fender squier and im having trouble with how you get the harmonics so easily cos myn does them but there hard to actually get out .... an with the solo yours looks just simple like a normal guitar to play but wiht mine i actually haveto try like with an acoustic

The right hand must do the light touch AND the pluck at the same time, AND the position of the light touch must be five, seven or (usually) twelve frets away from the fretting hand ... a lot to think about.

You'll find more information if you google for: artificial or pinch harmonic. You can also find tutorials on Youtube about this. It's very easy. You just need to experiment and.... loads of distorsion! je je

why you always say that...that...that...and the CHEAP "DIGITECH RP50".....you underestimate the thing....just so when some rich wacko comes here so he can leave a good comment... not like....your cover is great and the guitar is awesome but its a shame for that guitar with such a poor processor,....

The RP50 is cheap, but you can get a really nice sound if you plug it into a good tube amp. For this cover, I just needed a bit of extra overdrive: and the RP50 + my wonderful tube amp Crate Vc30 was a fairly good combination.

My main processor -the one I use live or in studio is the Boss ME50: not very expensive, but incredible!

You don't need to spend a fortune to get a decent sound.

Technically it is great and his feeling is brilliant. One of the best "vibratos" I've heard so far.

I found a tab on the internet (I don't remember where) and I got most of the notes from it. However, there were a few things that were wrong. Anyway, my cover is NOT 100% exact (and I did not intend to, either). It's just an approximation which sounds good to me. I think it's almost impossible to replicate such a fast solo 100% accurately. Just get the notes, the scales and shape where the guitar player moves and.... have fun!

There are already really good tutorials on how to play this solo on Youtube. If you use the tags: beat it solo slowed down, you'll find some really useful videos where the notes are quite accurate. Then, it's just a question of practising and giving your character. My cover is not 100% exact.. and I didn't intend it, either. I hope to see your cover very soon on Youtube! Best wishes, mate!. What strings gauge are you using?

I have a vintage strat with 12-54 and I cannot make the opening bends with this strings set :(

Ouch!! 12-54!! it must really hurt when you bend strings! This is not a gauge for a "soloist". I'm using 9-42 half a step down for easier bending. A good alternative could be 8-38 if you prefer "softer" feeling! but I wouldn't recommend that you use 12-54 unless you wanna play just some ryhthm guitar sections. Best wishes. Josep Suller

Just a suggestion - the 2 harmonics at the beginning are both tapped, not pinched. Other than that, it was top notch.

I know that the 2 harmonics at the beginning are both tapped, but I hardly use effects and they didn't sound good enough in this way. If you want the harmonics to sound like Van Halen's, you need lots of distortion (and I just use my amp's distortion: with a little bit of reverb). The only way I had to get a "similar" sound, was by pinching them.

i have cheap squier bullet and a line6 spider would the digitech rp 50 give me that effect like yours because my line6 has insane,metal, and crunch, effects bult in but i still cant get an effect sounding like yours....would the digitech rp50 help???

hi,

The rp50 would give you the same sound (taking into account the guitar). However, don't forget that the most important thing to get a good sound is.... YOU! The guitar player is more important than the effects. If a distorsion sounds dirty... it may be the distortions... but it might as well be your way to mute strings, your bendings, etc. Good sound is not just a question of "button combinations", but also Practice! If you ever record anything... post it! I would like to listen to it.

thanks, man! I bought that strat in 2001. It's a Fatstrat Texas Special. Quite nice and versatile, though it's not very comfortable to "shred". For shredding, I use an Ibanez Jem. Best wishes
