@Backyardkevster You really had me laughing with that. If they'd had the light sabers, maybe they would have won over the judges more! (I thought this was an incredible arrangement and that Brendan especially was outstanding.)
The judges got this one wrong. The more you watch/listen the more impressive the piece is. Sara's "too much going on" comment is only right if (like the judges) you only see it once and have to react right away. One of the Aires' best of the season.
The two sections for each song were great, but what makes it so good IMO is the ability to combine them and use certain aspects of the original songs when they got to the last half. It was a really amazing choice from an arranger's point of view, especially from 3:23 - 3:48. Definite A from me: one of the best three songs they performed!
The intro is critical for understanding Ben's comments; glad there's a copy on YouTube. That switch must have been tough for Ethan but it was the best decision. His voice would have been swallowed up against Brendan.
who gives a shit, Michael. The Sing-Off is 2 years old. The first all-male collegiate to win it? you sound like you're trying to break some major barrier.
i have said this before and will say it again. the dartmouth aires are a good group and deserve more than a biased review. i wish they had won but pentatonix was good as well. still... just because you dont like the dartmouth aires doeesnt mean you should bash them in every single review you post. other people like the aires and just because you dont doesnt mean you should bash them every time.
I understand why Michael is the favorite of the group, he's fantastic...but lets not forget Brenden!! that boy is something else, singing and performance wise! He should do Broadway
Last season's On the Rocks would blow them away anytime. They were not that impressive overall. But for this season, they were the best out of those college type groups. If they were in season 1 or 2, they wouldn't have lasted as long.
You know what else has high energy? A radio (playing the Dartmouth Aires) in a bathtub. Try it.
Yes, I'm bitter they took the spot of an actually MUSICALLY impressive group (such as Afro Blue). I thought they were okay. But their Queen medley got way more hype than it should have. That's what propelled them this far.
I am trying my hardest to connect with your train of thought when you listen to these performances. I still don't understand why you give some really unusual grades for many or most of the performances that have been done on this season of the Sing-Off. Sometimes, you just seem a little too harsh.
It is clear that I have failed to see these performances through your eyes. At least I am not alone in my failed attempt.
Personally I loved the 'Sympathy for the Devil' side of the performance, Brendan's hunched back and evil eyebrows really sold this for me.
I felt awkward knowing that someone different was supposed to sing the lead on the Lady Gaga side and I felt really bad that Michael AGAIN had the lead. Not that I dont think he is a good singer but I would have enjoyed seeing someone else take the lead and I felt bad for the kid who kind of got pushed to the back.
@demolitionlover89 I agree, but Ethan has a ton of courage to allow this. I love Michael, but I would've liked to see Ethan try it, as he has an amazing voice.
@jlwatts2345 show in Vegas.... yes... i can't see myself listening to them in my car as much as i can Pentatonix but i would pay good money to see them live
@1:47 Clark is messing everything up again by being sweet. He has brought down the group. Who wants to see a bunch of geeks and sweet men sing glee club style. i would'nt go to their concert if you paid me. They are not that good. Maybe for a circus act. Just my opinion.
I just found this performance annoying, like too much noise. Im still thinking they're really entertaining, but this one was a little bit exaggerated. Just my opinion.
I agree about not being the group for a recording contract, but I still enjoy them. Michael is amazing and Brendan did a great job on this one. I'd go to see them live, but I will definitely be buying up a record by Pentatonix!
@mrduckbear11 I think you've hit the nail on the head. They aren't really suited to the recording studio while Pentatonix is studio-ready (and even Urban Method to a certain extent. I still dislike UM though).
The mash up was good and the transitions were flawless...

solo. I enjoyed his voice here when I
actually didn't like his voice when he sung Animal.
But this, this was cool!
