What Pipes seemed to suggest (but unfortunately did not make explicit) is that Christianity has had a 600-year jump start on Islam. Does the fact that Christianity and Judaism have had even more time to "modernize" mean that we can, and should, give Islam a free pass? Of course, not. Can you explain Taqya, as a born Muslim I came to know of Taqya only from non-Muslim. The word Taqya is not found in the Qur'an nor the the word Jihard but non-Muslims mainly bankrupt Jews and Christians use them extensively because they are bankrupt. What Pipes seemed to suggest (but unfortunately did not make explicit) is that Christianity has had a 600-year jump start on Islam. Does the fact that Christianity and Judaism have had even more time to "modernize" mean that we can, and should, give Islam a free pass? Of course, not. But does it mean that we can afford to be a little more understanding when we broach issues uncomfortable to many Muslims, such as getting rid of the apostasy laws? I think so.

Can you explain Taqya, as a born Muslim I came to know of Taqya only from non-Muslim. The word Taqya is not found in the Qur'an nor the the word Jihard but non-Muslims mainly bankrupt Jews and Christians use them extensively because they are bankrupt. Taqya means you are occupied by some people wgho want you to follow their religion or be dead, so you have no choice but you accept in order to protect your life but in your heart you have not changed but still believe in Allah.
