the reason people do tagging is its the cheapest way to put there name up so people recognize who that artist is its not meant to look amazeing but its just to show that that writer has been there its quick and easy meaning the police dont catch you and its fast so you can do more than one you dont have to think about how its going to look or what colours to use because once you have a desired tagg you can copy it so its exactley the same meaning theres more chance or people rembering that tagg!

Thanks for your answer. I still hope they could respect public and private property and we could all be happy. Graffiti is a beautiful art, but I think what illegal tagging does is make more and more people hate graffiti. In my city they don't really respect anything, not even graffiti murals, they would tag me if I stayed for too long in one single place. I just hope some day these kids are able to invest their talent on good art instead of destroying property.

i think some people do it because they really got a message to tell, want to spread their opinion on the society or something. but these kind of tags have become very rare.

a lot of people do it because they get fame in the graffiti scene when their tag is very present in the city and seen by many people. it can become an obsession to tag.

tagging can also be part of self-discovery, young people are often confused and don't know what to think about the world. :)

The motivation is that I find that ugly specially when done on my walls, and since I feel powerless, I at least want to understand their motivation. Taggers impose their view of beauty on my stuff.
