  • the best!

  • This is so relevant to the USA and Money & bad times/ The truth be told ALL would respond like This ,to do for, and to give to the ones "we" Feel : for: like this Free money Free From Free to BE ,Do And Have all that is unnecessary And all we Desire With out restraint.

  • And props to the drummer and keyboardist... Amazing stuff.

  • Amazing performance. Back before the days of Autotune, when a singer needed raw singing talent... I miss that. Well, there are still amazing good singers that don't need to use it.

  • 21 people don't like good music.

  • Excelente!!!

  • free money Nice nice Well here is my link its better /watch?v=WlUEEe6dYU4 check it out

  • te amo patti!

  • alguien mas esta aqui por la ogra que todo lo logra? n.n

  • first time i saw patti my friends dragged me to la mere's in chicago late 75/early 76. i hated bars and they dragged me there. i was sitting at the bar and looked next to me and she was sitting there. i said hi and we talked a bit. tho i was underage at the time i was hooked, untill the place was torched by the police on orders from mayor daley sr.. first time i heard her was on ray manzareks 2nd solo album. great video!!!

  • She is a true artist. By todays standerds all you need to be considered an artist is a pretty face and an auto-tuned voice. Its a shame

  • saw her New Year's Eve show 2 years in row in NYC @ The Palladium '76 & '77. AWESOME

  • What's the closest contemporary performer to Patti?...PJ Harvey, who is not fit to lick the boots of this genius. Words cannot describe how awesome Patti Smith was and is.

  • esta si es actitud para cantar!!!!!

  • @nerverwhere If you saw the Atlanta show in January 1976, I think the venue was still known as Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom. I was there and it was a fastastic show!!

  • I was lucky enough to have seen her perform at the Agora in Atlanta, GA. She was f**king amazing!!

  • @nerverwhere I saw her in a college gym where the small crowd was right with her on the floor & there was so much energy from her & the audience - I can't remember what year it was - maybe 1975???? She really rocked & people acted as though she were a Goddess - she was truly genuine & revolutionary against this system.

  • Mann war das noch Musik

  • she rocks

  • Oh baby! This is so cool!

  • PATTI you are for ever the best singer of all times thank you

  • @MastodonManiac Wow.....you really don't know WHAT you are talking about...back to your cave troll. :D

  • Patti Smith was/is awesome.

  • Oh Man !!

  • I saw Patti and her band perform in NYC in the late 70's. It was one of the best concerts I had EVER been to!

  • Fucking Legend!

  • visit my channel to earn some free money and send it to your paypal

  • @MoneysFree Fuck you

  • My favorite song!

  • Patti was great live ... Reading Festival in 78 was a wild time!

  • free money...

  • Her first 3 albums were listened to as often & as loud as possible - a goddess - she rocked - opened the door for the Punk Era!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @wonderlin1-As opposed to the Stooges, Dolls, the Ramones, Television, Blondie, all of whom were playing before she got into music in earnest? Or the Pistols and the Clash who were not influenced by her at all? An important artist no doubt, but saying she started anything is highly exaggerated. This is her best original song IMO.

  • There's always this "Who was first?" debate when it comes to comparing musicians. Patti Smith is undoubtedly a punk rock icon, and had immense influence on a multitude of punk musicians that came after her. All of the bands you listed were playing many of the same NYC venues (CBGB, Mars Bar, Mudd Club, etc.) at the same time Patti Smith was. So were David Byrne, Klaus Nomi and Suicide. Patti isn't called 'The Godmother of Punk' for no reason. (btw, Blondie started 'punk' and ended 'pop')

  • @karmadhyana-I would say it is for no good reason. The idea of being the godmother of punk is helping to start something. But the chronology doesn't back it up. The simple fact is that she had no role in the music Television, Blondie, the Ramones, the Talking Heads, the Sex Pistols, the Damned, The Clash, etc. were playing. And what is Because the Night? Not a punk song. Incidentally the Mudd Club started in 78 and Nomi first performed at Irving Plaza in 78. Suicide dates back to 72.

  • @ihasch Aaah, I see you've done your homework! Good show, old man! (<--- I went all Dr. Watson on you) I will be back with a well-compiled and researched reply...ha, not really. I will accede to your arguement that none of these above-mentioned bands was ever, at any time, influenced by Patti. Btw, is it a time thing? Does someone have to have "come before" to legitimately be called ' an influence' on someone else? In what context are you using the term?

  • @karmadhyana- My context is just factual. The chronology doesn't work. Nor can you find any influence in the music of the other first wave bands. All the NY bands were doing their own thing. And the Pistols and Clash have never cited her music as any type of influence. (Rotten famously dismissed her as a hippie.) The reputation came from Smith having an album out relatively early and the media attention. But it's a distortion without factual basis that got repeated. That's all. Still a fan.

  • does anyone know if this is video from the old I Never talked to Bob Dylan bootleg. I wanna find the whole show. i used ta go see her at CBGB's in '75/'76

  • I was about 15 when a friend got me listening to patti smith, david bowie, and lou reed. Changed the way I thought about music the rest of my life. She is absolutely great. P.S. the Gilda Radner character "candy slice" on Saturday Night Live was modeled on Patti Smith.

  • ive seen patti in 1979 at german rockpalast...i was fascinated of her voice, her presence on stage, her lyrics and dynamic.....and so i am still today..great artist she is..grandmother of american punk!

    i love you..patti :o)

  • LOVE HER!!!

  • 1977 I heared a song from Patti Smith the first time. I was really fascinated and I hoped, she will come to Central Europe soon. Just one year later, in summer 1978 she actually came to Vienna Austria - and my big mistake was: I lived on a freak-farm in the Alps. I went to Vienna to buy a ticket for the concert, but I came 2 weeks too late, this was a shock!! But in april 1979 I went to Essen, Germany, finally I have seen Patti Smith live at the Rockpalast. Just one time I have seen her...

  • I love this performance!

  • fucking amazing

  • I remember patti on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" many years ago, she did "Because The Night", whispering bob was gobsmacked with them because they ripped the joint. I've liked them since.

Patti was also sang Gloria and Gimme Shelter two of my favorite songs, on Jools Holland, need to post them.

First time seeing this video and I love it. The drummer is amazing.

  • Absolutely amazing ...!! LoveyouPattiiiiiiii !!

  • Did you know the gov is working to limit the right you have to take video in public. That you will need written permission of all parties in the video.

What we need to do is write, call, email, show up at any political town hall and ask for laws that allow us to continue to record in public with out permission that includes the cops, mayor, city councilors.

  • I was there !

  • @magthemag how cool. this is my fave song on Horses, well.. I love them all.

  • I was there, 18 years of age, and just felt in love... She was, and is, so strong and vulnerable...

  • awesome song!!!

  • This is amazing.

  • In Patti we trust

  • no,,,,she,s a punk^^^^

  • Her autobiography is very powerful. It seems she was able to finally liberate herself on the stage. No doubt she was influenced heavily by Jagger, but what you see and hear is a great and original performer.

  • fucking hell that was cool!

  • By the time I discovered Patti, she was was already old and grey. If only I could have seen her live back when this was recorded. True art that makes most of contemporary music weep for its lost soul.

  • @liverust5 she is still soooo good and amazing o my god i saw her live and i couldn't believe it i hope i am able to be that amazing at ANY age (and im only 18), much less at 65 years old gosh she is inspiring!

  • @liverust5 lost soul? lost dreams in music!

  • @liverust5 I remember when the 'Horses' LP came out, and it was so awesome hearing a woman representing punk rock with thoughtful, powerful lyrics and crazy talent! Unfortunately, there were sooo many men dogging her because she didn't fit into their concept of what a woman should look/act like. I would loved having seen her then, but seeing her in concert with 30+ years of experiences, growth and passion would be even cooler. Being "old and gray" isn't a downfall--it's a rite of passage.

  • @liverust5 Hi. I saw Patti in NYC in 1980. She and her group were awesome! One of the best concerts I have ever seen!

  • @liverust5: You really missed something not being able to watch her in 1979 at her famous Rockpalast gig in Germany, i watched her 4 weeks before in Düsseldorf because the Rockpalast night was already completely sold out but it was broadcast live on TV in Germany and several other European countries, unforgettable memories !

  • @liverust5 me too, i've only discovered in 2009, unfortunatelly. These 1976 lives are awsome, i wish i was there.

  • @liverust5

I feel you man, 17 when I stumbled upon Patti last year. I was watching a special on VH1 classic, and she was on there, they played something, and I wasn't impressed. Then I saw a commercial for Bruce Springsteen's "The Promise" that played "Because the Night," I went, I KNOW THAT SONG!!! and I went on Itunes, and surprisingly, Patti was number 1, and since then I've been hooked.

None of my friends understand, and I don't care, she's all mine!

  • @liverust5 That's stupid - Patti's as fucking GREAT now as she was then. Where the hell have you been?

  • @liverust5 she may be 'old and gray' as you say but she's got as much fire then as now

  • @liverust5 I enjoyed her back then, I enjoy her grey and old. Great poetry, great music, rebellion....never grow old. It's up to you to chose whether you want to create limits to your experience or not

  • Bloody hell, please tour the U.K.again soon, Patti.

  • she really gave a break to my Doors records when she came up with that sound in 76

AMAZING its one of my favorite ones

  • best song

  • This video, as well as all of the ones from Stockholm in 1976, were released on a bootleg album, titled "I Never Talked To Bob Dylan." It is one of my all-time favorite albums. I always wondered how they got such fantastic sound quality: these videos explain a lot in that regard. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to all involved!

  • This is pretty rocking version - I have an old bootleg on red vinyl of the whole concert called "I Never Talked to Bob Dylan". I've been listening to it for years but this is pretty cool that it was filmed as well!!!

  • Poooooor baby! :-) I have this on vinyl!

Her rendition G-L-O-R-I-A is still my all time favorite!
