I'm a sucker for brit comedy, but somehow i hadn't seen hot fuzz.. So i watched the trailer, and went straight out and bought it. I EFFING LOVED IT. One of my fav movies ever! So i bought SOTD and Paul, and loved them too.
Finally i bought Spaced. That show was amazing. I watched all episodes back to back, and i'm really sad that there are no more... :(
But THANKS for opening my eyes to the Pegg/Frost partnership. It all started with this video :)
You just had to answer my question while you were ill, didn't you? lol Hope you're feeling better, man. Thanks for the answer, and I agree. Hot Fuzz is definitely a favorite of mine, as well. That being said, if you're so inclined to answer, what did you think of Shaun of the Dead as their other largely celebrated American release?
Have you not seen Paul? Arguably funnier than Hot Fuzz, but then I live in South Gloucestershire, know the local force pretty well, and I recognised all the sets from Wells. It all felt a bit too familiar. And real.
Most of the people I'm subscribed to that still make videos only put out one or two videos a month. It's surprising you apologize for making only one a week!
Would it be fair to say that your "college" is similar to the U.S "community college" ? Smallish 2 year programs that people generally do before they go to university, especially if they want to save some money.
Hot Fuzz is also my favourite movie. Why I like it is that there are so many things that are brought up laterin the movie. Basically everytime I watch hot Fuzz there is something new joke I pick up on.
Hmmm... I'm having a hard time here processing your choice. Perhaps you could tell us what you consider the best film made is, so I can handle your answer and move passed it. lolz
@twizelby Well seeming as he is English and most of his viewers are English much as myself... I think he can spell it in whatever way he fuckng wants.
@RedMiel I havent listened to it but i assume judging from earlier videos where he promised revenge on Lathumway. His brother is probably the one holding:
The water gun (20% probability of happening)
A fly swatter (5% probability)
Vuvucuela (0% probability)
Tazer (15% probability)
A rope connected to unknown series of devious devices (60% probability)
That is just my guess on how to most conveniently distinguish between them. Also Preceding the use of listed items there might be an evil laugh.
Right... American-style comedy is basically heavy-handed slapstick like Woody Allen and Robert Altman, while British humo(u)r is cerebral and understated, like Benny Hill.
I love Hot Fuzz! It's like The Wicker Man but with guns. A hell of a lot of guns. It's also like The League of Gentlemen, a bit, but I expect that's because they're both influenced by the above. I definitely think Hot Fuzz is their best film to date. Shaun of the Dead was good, but the novelty wears off quickly and isn't worth repeat viewings. Burke and Hare only earned a couple of chuckles throughout.
do you not think that hot fuzz stopped making sense halfway through, completely discarded nicholas angel's character development (and butterman - he made absolutely NO sense from the moment he turned up at the occult meeting onwards) at that point and then depended on shock to get it's biggest laughs? i almost walked out about 30 minutes before the end it sucked so hard :(
Watched Hot Fuzz in theaters and I'm a huge fan of British comedy but I thought it was horrible, I don't remember laughing once and I was high as a kite. Trust me, it didn't go over well here, they actually did a bad job blending in American comedy.
You worked hard for your A? Don't put your self down Jacob. You coasted it like everyone else ;)
I'm being harsh, but then my best friend got straight A's in Media, Film and English at A-level, while being a rock drummer in an active local sleaze band and touring Denmark each year.
YAY FOR HOT FUZZ!! Last month I got to see a triple feature of Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead hosted by Edgar Wright at the Castro Theatre (in SF). He was hilarious and read out the IMDB tags for each of the films (which I highly recommend). Jealous? :)
You are talking about the Hot Fuzz where a British officer is moved to a small town that is obsessed with winning the Village of the Year award or something, right?

kind of, although it doesn't have anything to do with money, college is free in the UK and to go to uni you have to go college first.
