There are far easier ways of speed reading; it is actually inefficient to read line by line so other techniques already work faster without all the stress of introducing this idea to existing software etc. This will not replace standard formatting for sure but good luck anyway.

Does this "Publishing Model" work in PDF/online? if not... thats something to fix too... i understand that the PDF reader; client side is probably what controls this, however before contacting one of the largest corporations in the world, i'd talk to adobe first and try to allow users to convert their own books.

well i like the idea but a real ready doesn't read line by line or word by word. I often use figure eight patters and read several lines at once. I'll go try your method but the eye and mind doesn't work one word at a time or driving would be very dangerous.

Reading 4 or 5 words in a glance is what we do naturally reading one word or line at a time is like focuses on balancing when biking.. it makes you crash or go slow. reading more than one word at once. not saying the word out loud.

Hey, I've never heard of this before, but I did take a class a year out of high school that had us write (at different times) with both hands forwards, backwards, upside down, and upside down and backwards to increase the brain's ability to comprehend quicker. It helped some people that were not as strong of readers and also people who were ADD and also people that were dyslexic. I think it would take quite a bit of time for someone who has not practiced this quite a bit of time to get used to.

Hmmm following that logic when it comes to the computer screen or an e-book reader, maybe a more optimal method would be a constantly streaming marquee where you can control the speed of the text. That would add additional speed in the time it takes to move your eyes down a line or changing pages.
