  • It's class that Eric's got his Toon shirt on.

  • That's a whole other lot of Animals.

  • Never mind the fake playing and no leads into the guitars....on closer inspection, that bass guitar doesn't appear to have any strings on it.

  • Riblja Corba - Kad sam bio mlad (when i was young).. Muche best version on Serbian :)

  • LSD

  • " Good Stuff.... Love It !!!

  • NE MOGU DA VERUJEM DA JE CORBA UKRAO OD OVOG!!!

  • perfection is hard to achieve. but this is perfect!

  • riot did a heavy metal cover of that song including the ashtonishing lead vocals of rhett forester

  • 99 says this song is Erics best song cause 99 fells truth, 99

  • bought this in Monterrey, Mexico.... the power of The Animals Always brings tears to my eyes.

  • The Animals areone of the few groups that put out music that still sounds fresh today. Other sixties music is dated and even sounds corny. I saw the Eric Burden a couple years ago and he sounded great. The band he had really stretched out. Good stuff!

  • Oh my gosh, LOVE IT!!

  • My love for Animals is endless!!!

  • @FantomasXZ7 Which do you prefer, Animals or Who?

  • @BelRiose2000 Very tough question…

  • @BelRiose2000 Very tough question…

  • @BelRiose2000 Very tough question…

  • Schweet, had forgot about this one for many years, but used to have the 45 RPM record. Love those 60's drummers, they were the best.

  • Wow, the band is totally revamped here. All fled but Eric.

  • This band has a uniquely primal screaming sound.

  • In the vetnam war My uncle listen to this he sead it was great insperation. It is beutyful.

  • Oh if I were there with him, when I was young... WoW! Sexy, Poet-Singer. Seriously!

  • This is one of the strangest videos I've seen of a band playing to a recording. Burden's singing quite dominantly over his vocals & the drummer's drumming over his part too. Can't tell about the violinist, but the guitar & bass aren't even plugged in.

  • when 99 was young just like erick,,99

  • One of the most underated musical groups of all time.

  • Jack White reminds me of Eric Burdon.

  • @esl190 How so?

Not arguing, curious to hear. I could see how. Just want to know.

  • What a voice,so original.

  • his voice is fucking insane. i've been listening to them for a few years and his voice. it's just so deep, powerful, and you can tell he breathes the lyrics. he isn't just singing them; he is the lyrics. the animals are sooo underrated. they are absolutely incredible.

  • I want that Strat & Eric's Rolex

  • 60's music -- the best !!!! .

  • Eric Burden Right on again, live

  • art rock with a message.very forgotten tune under the wheels of the beatles, beach boys, stones.very well done but not recognised

  • 5 people are gone man..

  • Barry Jenkins great drummer

  • when i was young this was the best music! though i'm older now/i'm still young! i play the drums @ least STILL!!

  • You couldn't fake your way through life, like we do now. (My lost lyric from this song.)

  • thumbs up if you're listening to this in the Stone Age

  • thumbs up if your listening to this in 1856.

  • needs more electric violin

  • one word class !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thats when I was young " I was 14 " remeber the Animals.

Burden has always had this voice that makes you just wanna listern.

    fabulas.

  • there lip- singing 0:11 the violin

  • there lip- singing

  • sounds like violinist john weider missed his cue 0:11 eric the sandoz man is singing live over a pre recorded background track

  • outstanding post! Thanks!

  • Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is hosting? It really was a different time. :)

  • Eric Burdon... thats all im gunna say :)

  • so hot! drummer is sweet! I was YOUNG [10] in 1967 and hadn't heard of these guys til I was 12. Just reunited with the music 5 years ago and they were so unique for the time and no band has ever touched them for song variety.

  • Cool

  • Perfect

  • i wanna make sweet love to a young eric burdon >:)

  • Man, it really sucks them days are long gone....it was just a riot back then

  • thumbs up if your listening to this in 2011

  • @gamedog1231 LOL

  • @gamedog1231 2012

  • WHITEFRO

  • Eric : Forevva young !

  • Seems to be very funny mix of live and playback , great though !

  • THE GUY FARTING AT THE START OF THIS TUNE MADE IT WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAD EVER BEEN DONE BY A GROUP OR ARTIST. SO YOU TELL ME -BRILLIANT? - GENIOUS? OR PERHAPS JUST A LITTLE BIT ANIMAL. YOU BE THE JUDGE!

  • Was the Casey Casim trying to look suave and quite "debone" at the end?

  • chaz chandler played bass and organ in the beginning, then became an exec at emi and discovered Jimi Hendrix. Great jams.

  • playback ?

  • Love this song and his voice. The instrumentation, the lyrics and him, him, him.!!!

  • fuck yeah

  • Did the other original members just get fed up with Burdon ? I know Chaz Chandler started managing(?) Jimi Hendrix but what'd the other guys end up doing?

  • @DrHogfan With new Drummer Barry Jenkins(3-66) blowing the guys off the stage, organist Dave Roweberry was tired of the drug stupor/no income lineup. A final states tour in '66, displayed the parody. Guitarist HiltonValentine too wasted for performance(a clip was on YT). By 10-66, the New Animals(Briggs/Weider/Jenkins/McCulloch) were jamming, recorded "When I was Young" in Nov. One year later, no

funds cracked bonds, Eric fired Briggs in 7//68, in 10/68, Animals announce disbandment. Our Loss

  • Proof that this band Invented Karaoke! To their own music!.

  • LOL Notice the violin started playing before he started playing it..... Hmmmmmm

  • Thats ''Hilton valentine'' on guitar

  • man they had alot of talent I ahad always l;oved the lyrics since it sounded d so muck like my own life. The violyn playeer is also aluesome!!

  • Still my number one song of all time!!!!!

  • THE GUY FARTING AT THE START OF THIS SONG MADE IT WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME. I DO BELIEVE THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME A GROUP OR ARTIST HAD EVER ATTEMPTED SOMETHING LIKE THIS. SO YOU TELL ME? BRILLIANT? - GENIOUS? OR PERHAPS JUST A LITTLE ANIMAL ! YOU BE THE JUDGE !

  • This is from Shebang, a dance show that aired weekday afternoons on Los Angeles television station KTLA in the mid to late 1960s hosted by Casey Kasem.

  • Comment removed

  • Great band. Great music.

One night, Mrs. Gumby said: Eric Burdon was so hot!... He shook me up! And his SEXY voice makes me want to do BAD THINGS (in a good way) to him...

Well, guys, my brain hurts. 'Cause I just don't know what my wife really means...

  • The guys truly were cool then and didn't even know it. gods!

  • @ElusvOptmst yes gods!!!

  • @ElusvOptmst Burdon born 11/05/1941 during an air raid.Has Jim Morrison ever copied his voice??Burdon has always been a rebel but a pure genius. This music is great.

  • 68beano, they have invented punctuation. Use it.

Back in the olden days, because of sound and recording equipment limitations, the bands would play along with the records. It made it sound better at home. The records were probably used through the monitors: It often looks like the performers are listening so they stay with the recording. Hope this answers your question.

  • I am Iron Man.

  • The Doors were inspired by them...just some trivia!

  • Epic fail on the violin player starting when the recording does. Doesn't change the fact this is one of my favorite songs of all time.

  • @Aurabolt127 no......... when you are high on pot/hallucinogenics mistakes by musicians are viewed as "cool"...

  • What TV show is this? I have never seen tyhis rare clip of The Animals!! GREAT post.

  • i love that the groups played live but some times it just seems vocal is live not music i just watched lady jane by the stones mick sounds live but not the music just wanted to know if anybody else knows what's up with that. 68beano

  • Borina verzija je mnogo bolja hahaha ;)

  • @s3rious987 oce sutra

  • Find yourself a life

  • this is balkan version of the same song,,

    /watch?v=4Hv7ticWWKY

    also a timeless classic

  • I thank Eric Burdon for his music and the message it contained. ;)

  • very nice song

  • eric burdon's voice is unbelievable

  • the animals rock xD

  • the animals were and are a reflection of the white boy blues! bad, soulful, and my generation of the sixties will stand the test of time. 1964 cassius clay challenged sonny liston for the heavyweight title. summer of 64--california dreamin--lived it. best music ever--hot rods--the beach--surfing--girls--drag racing. nothing now!

  • @jimmyd10100 Yeah and everyone said Bitchin remember?

  • @2:02 eric's amazing voice makes the screen noise

  • Nice to see a singer that had the balls to sing LIVE on a high profile TV show in the 60's....most groups would have lip-synched...

  • @AvirtualSwitzerland ......That being said, it is also pretty funny to watch the rest of the band. They are laughing at how lame it all is. Watch how late the violinist comes in at the beginning of the song. What the hell is the guitarist doing?

  • @AvirtualSwitzerland it's called smoking pot/taking hallucinogenics....mistakes are cool///..

  • @MERRYJERRYL ....No, it's called NOT playing. Eric's microphone is the only thing live on that stage. And for God's sake, what does LSD or MARIJUANA have to do with it?

  • @MERRYJERRYL Trolls are stupid too, whats your point?

  • @MERRYJERRYL ...."Mistakes are cool when you are on hallucinogenics".......Try to convince PINK FLOYD of that as they chase Syd Barrett, who is hunting butterflies at the time around the stage. Oh how cool, as he stares into the audience and doesn't say a word. Oh how cool, as he turns and faces the wall. Oh how cool, as he puts his hand up to his face and cries like a wolf.....Man, is that cool.

  • i was 19 when he sung this song,shit a lifetime ago

  • Karaoke style is how they did a lot of live small stage shows at the time, but the vocals ARE live.

  • Drummer didn't hit a skin the whole damn song.

  • He LOOKS so young

what an AWESOME song....what an amazing voice.....still gives me chills

this song seems even more relevant today

  • Another stand out lyric from the sixties "I met my first love at thirteen, she was brown and I was so green" ...tho'.. " I was so much older then" is similar to Dylan's "I'm younger than that now"

  • what was he young, just like me 43 years ago

  • FKN excellent ! one of the best by The Animals

  • i was just thinking,i did vnot see the guitar cords plugged in and the drummer was not hitting them like the song sounds, but eric is singing

  • immortal

  • burdon ftw

  • I thinks its Vic Briggs on guitar.

  • Eric Burdon one of the greatest blues-rock singers of all time...

  • Gesang Live, alles andere Playback. Seltenes Stück was ich so nicht kannte in der Form. Wohl der beste Song bzw. Schönste Stück von den Animals.

  • Eric ....I love your voice...

  • wow ! I havent seen this video before.

  • Joder, cada vez que la escucho me siento un vaquero xD

    Buen video ;)

  • ERIC is just so into this song; and he looks as always;;;;;;;;;;;;SEXY

  • The title should be Eric Burdon and not the Animals. The band bears no resemblance to the original Animals, and Eric is singing live over the top of his own recorded voice, while the band pretends to play what is actually the original recording. Classic American TV bullshit.

  • @Breatherable no need for the anger/hate in your post. peace brothers and sisters.

  • @Breatherable

The group at that time was called Eric Burdon and The Animals. I saw this line up in Jacksonville Fla in 1968. It was my first concert. They recorded several albums, before breaking up, and Eric joined with the group War.

  • @Breatherable

Most bands lipsynched for tv in those days.

  • @bluejazz51 yes that's partially true...but nonetheless....they were still a million times "cooler" than most of the "trendy" cats of nowadays,,,,,,,,,,,,,peace and love JERRY

  • Did they just have a make-over or something?

  • even though i was only 5 wish i could go back to the 60s-70s better days better music;;;

  • Is that Andy Summers on guitar?

  • bodywiseproducts, No. Andy Summers joined the band later on.

  • @bodywiseproducts I think it was Vic Briggs or John Weider on guitar in 1967

  • @bodywiseproducts I think it's Vic Briggs on guitar.

  • @bodywiseproducts-No, not him,,,,yet.

Actually, Summers (formerly Somers) joined The Animals in late '67, or early '68, playing on the "Love Is," LP, released in early '68.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • Eric Burdon and the Animals was the first concert that I ever went to way back in 1967 at either McFarlin Auditorium or Moody Colliseum at SMU.

I took this girl, can't think of her name, but I wore a suit.

  • @imrjvm Its interesting how concerts have changed. Now, at any rock concert, people will go casualy and become incredibly violent. But The Animals concert must have been calm.

  • those were the days'''''' even though i was only 6 years old

  • What show was this? Was this like a network variety show?

  • mmmmmmmm Eric Burdon is so fine!

  • Amazing magical voice....ERIC, God bless you....Peace, Love, Light!!!

  • It sounds like Eric is really singing here but are the guys really playing? I mean like the violin at the beginning, you can here it start before John starts playing his violin...

  • @Skutnikman It's hard to get sound from electric instruments that aren't plugged in. ;)

  • da da rriblja corba je to ukrala od ovih bogova

  • Wow~Awesome~does it get any better than this???Bring back the 60's!!

  • CLASSIC GOLD

  • great song

  • Eric, Thanks for cheese & crackers in Milwaukee in 1999.Happy birthday man !`

  • Strange to hear this BOY sing nostalgically about when houses were cold in 1940s England. British Invasion rockers had known poverty and some even WWII, all had grown up without tv. They were pre-baby boom. Come to think of it, the fathers of R&R were born during the depression and knew WWII very well. My god, it's both so long ago and so recent.

  • @wattever333 Agree, see my last post.

  • @elizabethosler ? I can't find it.

  • Good to see this edition of the band with Vic Briggs and John Weider.

  • I'm a techno fan... but fuck that's good! =D

    I love the Animals! :D

  • Like my youth at 14 in So Cal

  • ok this is nice brings back memories to me

  • In many ways I like the Animals better than many of the other English bands though they only lasted a few years.

  • Towards the end of their reign. But a great song. Animals always better than The Rolling Stones.
