I disagree. Melvin has a totally different and very unique style. The fact is that he's playing a lot of Lee Ritenour songs on which Marcus Miller originally played the bass parts. So there might be a slight similarity, as far as the bass line is concerned. Melvin's timing and technique, both slap and fingerstyle, is completely different from Marcus'.
@muller1007 You might want to check your liner notes, That is Melvin not Marcus on those recordings, you should check Melvin on his 7 string bass! Melvin is Melvin, Marcus is Marcus, and as much as I like Marcus, Melvin is really a down to earth approachable guy as I found out one night at Yoshi's. He is a great bass player!
